Call came to Kansas at 14:20 hours on 2-25-09. Call not answered and no message left. This call is from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, whom my wife had agreed to help with. Big mistake she says. Also, we have dumped two other numbers of theirs so they must have a whole bank to torture you with.

Thank you for your post.  I, too, am be bombarded by these calls as well as calls from Leukemia Lymphoma Society.  And I also had agreed to donate once several years ago.  In spite of telling them that I can't help now, they persist in calling day and night and all weekend.  I can count on receiving 3 or 4 calls a day and have to leave my phone off the hook when the baby naps.  I do wonder why I keep this land line.  This organization is the worst I have ever encountered.

Have received many calls from this number.  I just pick up but don't talk and they disconnect.  no words said from myself or them.  I wish they'd stop.  I am registered on the Do Not Call registry.  Why do they keep calling?

If all these societies which want donations keep calling, I'M NOT GIVING ANTHING TO ANYONE ANYMORE!!! In other word all of them should stop using telemarketers vecause they are hurting themselves as well as others.

This shows up on my phone - "THANKYOUFRM LLS" frequently.  I am on the do not call list.  Wish these people would honor this.  Just glad I do not have a sleeping child or I would be sooooo unhappy with whom ever they are......

Thanks for the info.  They just called and left no message.  Who it is sounds reasonable - I had often donated goods to ARC (Assoc for Retarded Citizens) and have been getting solicitations from Epilepsy etc so probably that's where this one got my number.

Think I may have the answer.  This shows up on my Caller-ID -- almost daily -- as shown above.  I've assumed it was a commercial telemarketer, but after reviewing posts at this (useful) Website for the adjacent number (ending in -96), I strongly suspect "LLS" is the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  I HAD, in a weak moment, agreed to do their appeal mailout within my neighborhood, and I'll bet this is the "verifier" calling to make certain it's worth their while to mailout the materials. If so, then they are unfortunately exempt, as a charity, from compliance with the Do Not Call registry.  I say "unfortunately" because I see from reporters on that other number that they are persistent and use strong-arm tactics, which is congruent with my own experience of them.
