"your KEYPOINT-CREDIT-UNION bill service is expired, for renewal call 909.543.6011"

I called just for the hell of it and it was the automated voice telling me to input my CC#. i just hung up.

What can we do to fight back? i called sprint and they said "we are to busy getting our heads out of our a** to help, but you might give your local police department a call, would you like add sprint text messaging to your plan for another 20 bucks a month? you can text all you want".

(ALERT) You KEYPOINT CREDIT UNION account is closed due to renewal, call us now at 9852414747.

I'm not too sure what to make of this, but I am most def. certain it is a phishing scam.  I am very pissed off that, not only is this a new cell number of mine, but that I don't appreciate things like this happening to innocent people.

My girlfriend recieved a similar text.  The phone number in question 845-868-4215 is serviced by Level 3 Communications and is in New York state.  Their contact number for customer service is 1-877-321-5465.

I would encourage people to contact Level 3 to advise them that one of their telephone numbers is being used for a phishing scam.

I just turned on phone so not sure what time today was sent. I am also with Verizon. It came from a fake web alias info@katcomputer.com I am concerned cause I received on friday a suspicious call stating you have won blah blah and you can claim your price, we just need a credit card in order to prove you are 18 or over. I hung up. it came from an Unknown #. But it is getting very upsetting now and I do not know what to do, who is phishing for info and how can we stop them.

Same thing here, from info@avaterea.com.  I'm with Verizon as well so I presume that's how they got the cell #.  Obvious scam, Karma will get these a***oles in the end.

I received my text at 846 am from members@saltlakecu.com stating my credit union bill service is expired with the number to call them. I automatically didn't even question it. I am a relay operator for the deaf and I would say about 80% of our calls every day to banks and shops to order large purchases is usually people from nigeria using your credit cards to do fraud and the FCC runs our company and makes it impossible for us to do anything but relay the call even when we know it is fraud it is horrible. EVERYONE put secret questions on your bank accounts!

I received the same text this morning verbatim as the others. Only the email was members@saltlakecu.com. Since the email seems to be arbitrary and can just be inserted into the text, the whois look up by zuruichibi proves nothing. The 845 area code is for New York, so why would a Salt Lake CU be operating in New York? My guess is that this operation is large, and as time goes on you will see more people from other cities inquiring about this number.

AN OBVIOUS PHISHING SCAM. i called, entered a legit credit card number (no worries, it's an account that is set-up for just a situation) and went through the whole process, which included SSN, mother's maiden name (which you speak) and date of birth. salt lake credit union (www.saltlakecu.com) has a warning notice on their home page. the whole operation is pretty amature, but obviously effective if you fall for it.

"(NOTICE) Your Salt Lake Credit Union bill service is expired, for renewal please call us toll-free 845.868.4215 ASAP"
I recieved this about 9 am this morning.
I did not call the number and I am a member of a credit union but not Salt Lake Credit Union, this seems fishy.

I got a text from info@primantibros.com this that stated:
"(NOTICE)  Your Salt Lake Credit Union bill service is expired, for renewal please call us toll-free 845.868.4215 ASAP"

I'm in Salt Lake, but I'm not a member of the Salt Lake Credit Union, besides, credit unions don't have bills, or have never texted me.  There were just too many red flags.  When I called the number a computer voice answered and said that they needed to verify my account based on my credit card number.  (another red flag).  I entered a bunch of fake numbers, and it just kept repeating the same prompt.  I wonder if it could tell a real number from a fake one.  I'll bet if I typed in a real credit card number it would then ask for my PIN.
