How would you know that? How do you it's a legitimate debt collector? Stop attacking people without facts.

I received a message for my son from this guy, stating it was a legal matter and gave a file # and gave his name as Steve Tucker.  I called him on the weekend and just got a generic answering machine line, "leave a message"...This couldn't be a reputable law firm.  When I called him this a.m. he started in about my son having a bounced check and that the store never received their money in December.  I told him you know you are making this up. If he bounced a check in December and still has the same acct. the thing was taken care of!!   He got really nasty and loud and I hung up.  He is definitely a fake, but I don't like that he has any info, such as the name of banks you bank with

A debt collector claiming to be ?Erica Shaw or Erica Shah,? a ?legal processor? from a ?law firm? called ?Rephen Law Firm? (which she purposely pronounced ?Restin? to avoid identification online) has attempted to collect a debt she claims is $220 for a bounced check with the original amount of $70. Their phone number is 845-678-1296.

1)    She refused to give information about the alleged ?law firm.?
2)    She refused to give information about the original debt.
3)    She claimed the additional funds from the original debt amount were for their ?processing fees? and interest.
4)    She threatened to take me to court, sue me and take legal action against me if I did not pay the debt and their ?fees? in full with an unreasonable time limit.
5)    She refused to send the debt information in writing or on the law firm?s letterhead.
6)    She became irate, accused me of doing illegal activity, and became verbally abusive on the phone when I questioned the fees and requested the information in writing.
7)    She attempted to justify the fees under the ?Uniform Commercial Code? and refused to tell me what part of it she was citing or how my state, FL, had adopted it.
8)    She became irate and refused to tell me the address where I could send them a letter requesting no contact.
9)    She said their only method of payment was Western Union and at first refused a payment plan I proposed. She eventually said yes to a payment plan but refused to offer any means by which to document the original debt or document my payments with receipts.

It is obvious from the overwhelming number of online complaints made to debt/credit complaint forums (e.g., ripoffreport.com, pissedconsumer.com, etc.) that they are an illegitimate operation.

Steve has made calls to me as well.  Demanding an exorbinant amount of money but won't send an itemized list as to how it became so large.  And he won't tell me where the checks are to.  I spoke with a friend who is also an attorney and she said that they cannot just randomly add money to accounts and not itemize it if it has been requested.  I'm getting tired of them and they are now calling from 845-678-1296 under the name Erica.  Even if I had anything out in a collections account the statute of limitations has been far exceeded and they need to leave this alone because they are breaking the law now.

My 21yo Daughter got a call from this rude pig.  I called him and he said something about Telecheck.  I'm a patient man, but just so far.  The call apears to come from a town called Nyeck, NY., but I'm not sure.

Received the same call and kept telling him that it was garbled and I couldn't understand what he was saying and he said to me "oh yes you can, don't play your games with me".  I could not believe how rude this guy was and when I asked if I could have some sort of proof as to what he was talking about, he told me he does not have to provide me with anything and I either pay him or else.  He then stated that he recorded the phone call (not sure if that was a threat) and I told him "good, I am glad you did, you are very rude.  He got more upset so I said "thank you" and hung up.

I just received the same message in exactly the same way (complete with the garbled firm name).  won't call this Steve Tucker back.

I know a Steve Tucker who runs a perfectly respectable law firm called the Tucker Firm. He deals exclusively with appeals. He would not be calling you unless you had called him first about a legal case you lost. Attorneys generally do not call anyone they are suing or have any sort of action against. They work through letters and process servers to avoid the appearance of impropriety. The person calling you is likely an impostor.

    Why don't you get an education so you can understand that the word is obviously and not odviously. I'm sure the police are really going to take you seriously when you tell them that you got a message on your voice mail. I'm sure they'll delay busting that heroin ring so they can contemplate the message that was left for you.

Same thing call from Mr.Tucker about a legal matter and I couldnt understand the name of the law firm either? He said it fast and mumbled. I have not called him back and dont plan on it..he doesnt want to talk to me and be rude cause i will let him have it. There has to be something we can do about this. I think I will call the police station tomorrow and file a report. As for Jami.....Wow she is odviously bored why is she on this website anyways?? I looked up the # and this is what I got..I hope things get better for that girl cause she is odviously not happy with life.

I would listen very carefully to what Steve Tucker says about your information.  Do not volunteer or correct any of his mis-information.  And like someone said above ask him to send copies to you but do not give him your address.  I did a little more research(Google) and there is a book by a Steve Tucker on Debt collection.  I'm guessing a scam artist is using his name and techniques.  http://www.debt-collect.com/whoweare/index.html#steve

Steve Called me early this morning.  Stated I bounced a check with Pizza Hut.  I don't write checks that often, and if there is a problem and I am short on funds it rolls over to a credit card so I have not bounced a check in like 20 years if ever... He also named the wrong bank.  I also checked my credit report and there are no issues.  Definitely a Phishing Scam.  He tried to keep me talking.  Just be polite and hang up.

Actually it seems fairly obvious that all the calls originating from the number are calling innocent people at random and trying to extort money in a criminal threatening manner... I doubt that anyone owes these criminal scammers that likely are lead from somewhere in nigeria or france anything... There is a very special place in hell for people like them... Also what legal entity types in all caps? Are lawyers no longer required to even pass 1st grade grammar and spelling requirements?

I would also like to do something about this guy!  Did you get any response?

A message was left on our phone yesterday from a Steve Tucker, stating he was with some Law firm. (could not understand him) He stated that he needed to talk with James or Karen _______. He left the number 845-875-5204 and the case # to reference.  The only connection we have with James and Karen _________, is that our last names are the same.  We do not even know them. I tried calling back last night and an answering machine picked up, I did not leave a message.  When I got to work this morning I tried the number again and received the same message, I did not leave a message.  A little later in the morning @ work I received a call from Steve Tucker, I guess he has caller ID, he stated that he saw where I had called last night and this morning (must have guessed on this morning, area code, etc.) He started out by asking for my phone and reference number.  I told him that this was not the number for James and Karen _______. He then ask if I lived at __________________ address.  I stated that I did not and did not know James or Karen.  He then ask if they were relatives and didn't I leave in ______________ town.  I stated that I did live near that town, but I did not know them.  I then asked him how they got our number and he stated that he did not know, the clients must have provided it, and that he would take our number off the file. I ask again why our names were chosen,was it because we have the same last name and live in the area? He just responded that he would take our number off the file and we would not receive another call.  I decided a little later to call him back and find out what the name of the Law Firm was.  When I called he answered and ask if this was the person he had talked with earlier in the morning.  I stated that it was and wanted to know the name of the Law firm, he stated it, but I could not make it out.  I ask him to spell it and he refused, he then stated that I needed to get over it and leave him alone, and to not call him again.

Same deal, received a call on my answering machine saying his name was Steve Tucker with a law firm that sounded intentionally garbled so I couldn't make it out, stated I needed to call him about a very important legal matter and gave a reference number.  When I called the number back I get a generic answering machine that certainly doesn't sound like a law firm or any professional business for that matter.  I'm not calling it back anymore, something tells me this is a scam.

received a call from an irate man, yelling and threatning about a check that he claims I wrote....... demanded that I wire him money immediately....... I don't know anything about the check....... Was not very cooperative in helping me get to the bottom of matters...... he just wanted to yell and point me to Money Gram.......  didn't seem ligitimate....... I'm not sending him money........
