(847) 232-9534 called my cell phone and a pre-recorded message talking about becoming a contractor.  A reverse number look up is possible on Whitepages.com, but you have to pay a fee to get the registered owner information.  The free part of the look up shows the following:

Got a unwanted solicitation to become a contractor from this number.  Please something to stop this unwanted calls.  And who will pay for my cell minutes!!!

Called my cell phone at 11:44 this morning, but left no message.  Since it was clearly an out of state number, and one I didn't recognize, I guessed it was a telemarketer or call center.  I thought it was illegal for telemarketers to target cell phones.

Left a pre-recorded message on the answering machine. Something to do with becoming a contractor. They even had the gall to say it wasn't a sales call when they were clearing selling something.

This company called me and called me and kept calling me. They would not take no for an answer. They sent their garbage and they wanted me to pay for it. Thats been approx. 7 years ago. I hurt their a**. That will teach you not to mess with a big dog like me! I hurt bi****s like you. Mess with me agian and I'll take more of your money. Your lawyers a chump and couldnt collect money from the blind. I knocked your and his a** out too. Call me agian and I'll knock your a** out agian bi***! I still got your product you sent if you want this sh** back it'll cost you $250.00. and the price keeps getting higher the longer you wait.

Got this one on my cell phone at about 9:30 in the morning. as soon as I heard the recording start, I hung up.

... oh, just discovered that the address "DAN" gave me is a UPS Store.

Call actually came from caller ID 800 400 3000 ... but the M.O. and company name are identical to above.  I was able to verify the following info about this shady company:

Claimed to have gotten my phone number as a "referral."  I'm on Federal and State DNC lists and have owned my phone and the number they dailed for more than 5 years. I asked for details about the "referral" and "Dan" said the company doesn't keep those details.

just got a call from this # on my cell.  Says its from IL. Didn't answer.  Have gotten call from this # once before.  I'm getting annoyed because I'm registered on the National Don't Call Register. They don't leave a message but guess it doesn't matter if they are advertisers/marketers.  How/who can we all complain to about these telemarketing annoyances that cost us time and money!!!!!!! They prey on people and they're disgusting scams.  A friend my a**. I try very hard not to allow "3rd party" access to my personal info so they can intrude on my life.  So, I'm asking, could our telephone servers be selling our info now?

They called me too.  Only about 4 people have my number.  How'd they get my number?

I have to answer calls from people I don't know -- this is my business line.  I called them back and left an irate message.

Just received a call from this number. It is 11:55 in California. They did not say anything when I said hello. I hung up.

Just got the same call as the people above. I can't believe I even bothered to answer it. I blew one minute on Verizon!!!

I don't answer calls I don't know, searched and saw it was a annoying caller from the history listed here.  Erased the message w/o listening to it

I hung up right after "You have received this call because a friend has told us about you...." Hummm... I wonder if I'll be charged for receiving the call... Well at least they didn't block their number, so I was able to find this website and the information 'bout 'em!

got the same call but they hung up on me, not going to even call them back.

Call showed it originated in Illinois on my caller ID.  When I called the number back from a land line, It was answered "Thank you for calling the California Contractors Licensing Division.  If you know your parties extension you may dial it at any time" Of coure it went into dead air after that.  Contacted the California State Contracting License Board and was told that the call was BOGUS!!

Just got the same call and message as Y.R. (first post)annoying but my brother is a contracter so I don't know if he used my number for something or what.

"You have received this call because a friend has told us about you. We are giving you free information on how to be a contractor." This is to my cell phone. The recording wouldn't stop, so I hit zero on the keypad to see if I could talk to a real person and immediately the call was disconnected.
