called regarding a debt I had no clue about. Asked to mail me a letter. Stated they did in March- I replied I never got it. She said their policy is "to not send duplicate letters." I replied if you want me to talk about it, mail me something, and I hung up.

You don't need a valid debt or a derogatory trade line on your credit reports to be hassled by debt collectors. They call third parties to alleged debtors all the time for permitted skip tracing purposes, or often pretending it's a trace to annoy and shame an intended target whose location is already known.

Nobody mentioned the DNCR prior to your remark, but the joke is on you for failing to comprehend its scope. The federal Do-Not-Call registry exists to help enforce the Telemarketing Sales Rule. Please note the operative term ''marketing''. A debt collector is not a sales person and is therefore not covered. Here are the DNC service terms you were supposed to review at registration time:

I don't answer and have no debt collectors on my back. I guess they just have to call whatever number they have, even if it's wrong. Still, Do Not Call is quite a joke.

they called my number and asked if it was me. I said yes and to verify they said my birth month and year no date and no middle name... They said i owed money on this account since 2008 the bill was paid in 2010 when i found out i still had a balance. now their calling saying I owe more money... it is now 2013.. your not seeing a DIME... now i have to find my records from 3 years ago and figure out where my verification number is that says I paid it. What b***s***... and if they put a mark on my credit i will have to get a lawyer involved... they will end up paying for my lawyer if it goes that far..

I got a call from this number today but hit the reject number on my cell. They left an automated voice mail message for someone I've never heard of and the message went on to say that by staying on the line I was confirming I was this person. Great...now because they apparently don't account for voice mail they will probably start calling me every damn day thinking I am this person.

Oh, and for all you idiots who keep saying "pay your bills and you won't have problems" do you even know how to read???? Half of us are getting these calls for someone we have never even heard of!! Not to mention the others who have been through identity theft and are now getting these calls! So please, explain to those of us who DO pay our bills why we are still having problems....idiots...

This is a debt collector.  I had a debt that I am assuming they were either contacted by the originator or they bought the debt.  They have been good to work with and I have not had any issues from them.

I Got a call from thies Jokers did not take the call. The number on my caller ID was 847-257-8333. Now I see the last 4 is also is 8326. I went though an Identity theft. After spending allot of money with a lawyer. And having letters sent out and letters filed with the 3 credit agencies. I had my lawyer tell me how these BOTTOM feeders make their money. They buy up default accounts for pennies on the dollar and then try to get people to pay for an account that has been charged off and have received insurance money for the defaulted account. The laws in the USA need to be changed, because if the creditor gets money from insurance that they have on all credit loans and gets that money after they file a claim on a default account they should NOT be allowed to sell of a debit account that has been paid for by an insurance company for pennies on the dollar just to make more money. IF Joe X out here doses that it?s called insurance fraud. My lawyer laid out to me how all this works. If you get harassed by these jerks turn them into the FCC and they will get hit with FINES. Next get a lawyer and follow what they tell you. Simple thing do not take calls from anyone you don?t know. If it is important they will leave a message. Call you phone company be it a land line or Cell and have them block the numbers. Some phone companies will require you to renew the block number(s) 3 to 4 months down the road. Hope this helps.

I got a call from a local # last night- after seeing that the prefex was one of my friend's #'s I called back. I was instantly asked "Is this *my name here*" and when I said "yes, who are you?", they were pushy and rushed my call through to a "representative" who then said he was trying to collect a debt. When I said  that a letter had been sent to them, and if they  got it, they said no. They told me which debt it was referring to, but not their company's name.

They were really pushy tryin to get me to agree to pay a debt. He wasn't very well spoken, wasn't understanding what I was saying to him, and was wanting me to make a payment right away.

I received calls from this number with a machine trying to pronounce my name.  They even have started mailing me debt collection letters but I don't owe anything.  I have a feeling they stole my identify when I got a computer virus, or when I reported my card stolen on my cell.  I called the credit card company but I have no balance.  I will go to a lawyer if need be.

I will need to change  my phone number.

I received a call and a message was left with the correct name...like many, she had trouble pronouncing it. I returned the call. In my case it was a valid call and I took care of the problem. The lady I spoke to was courteous. After taking my payment information, I was passed to her supervisor so he could verify I had authorized the payment and gave me a confirmation number.

This number started randomly calling me.  And when I answer no one is there.  Its super annoying.  I don't have any debt.  and they don't believe that I'm me.  They think I am the person they are looking for and I'm lying.  I'm really getting pissed off.

I had this number call me upto 7 times a day, and each time I answered no person was on the other end, I then set my phone to auto answer and got some guy asking for a person not at my address or number, he got aggressive at not finding the person he was looking for and hung up. When I called the number back no one answered. I have reported the matter to the FCC.

Contract labor for Asset Recovery Solutions. They are a third party debt collector. They will call anytime day or night against FCC regulations. Local numbers come up as cell phones. The contractors are rude. If you have a debt which has been charged off (example:  GE Moneybank), these people are working for someone who bought this debt at a drastically reduced amount, literally pennies on the dollar.

Yeah,  got a call from this number today and a lady left a message that it was the IRS calling and left a number, that was different from the caller ID# to call back for an important matter.  Don't call it!  I called the number she left 877-253-3543 and it was Asset Recovery Company not the IRS.  They are Scum if not Scam-artists trying to get your attention and on the phone with you.  Very rude and demanding. They'll leave a msg saying it ARS and with their deep southern accents they make you believe it's the IRS calling. Very clever and stupid all in one!
