The ceo of chase received a 2 million dollar bonus on top of his HUGE salary.  When Chase bought Wa-MU they increased my interest from 9% to 18% - I called and asked why - I'd had that credit card for at least 10 years and had always paid on time.  Didn't give me a reason for the increase - said call back in 6 months. Called back - still refused - no reason given.  Called 2 years later offered to split the debt in half - and make it done.  Refused.  Called again several months later - refused again.  Said they would prefer bankruptcies and foreclosures because they an get the money from the Fed.
Now you know why Chase is out of the basement - First the feds back them up - the top bananas get their increased salaries and bonuses - and all the people who have lost jobs, get their salaries slashed, lost the homes, etc.  have given Chase the money.  There have been rumors they will go bankrupt themselves.  And then there is the money JP Morgan "stole" from the government... no mention of Chase being JP Morgan!

The Do Not Call list doesn't apply when you already have a relationship with the caller or the company they represent.  It applies only to cold calling as with Telemarketers.

I just got a call id'd as Chase Bank, which is my bank, but gut feeling was do not answer and to google the number.  Here I am.  I'm hammered all day and evening by Capitol One and other numbers that leave no name. This sucks, weekends don't matter to these people, nor do early mornings.

I forgot to mention this.  I registered my number with the do not call thing and since then I've received calls from Discovery and others that hadn't called before that.  Could DoNotCall be giving these numbers out?? Something to think about, yeah?

Chase credit--they closed my acct., they can't give me a reason.  I paid on time, every time, over minimum payment due, for over 5 yrs.  So until I have a reason for closing my acct., i have other bills to pay that will happily take the $100 a month and not close an acct.

Glad to hear I'm not alone.  It get's overwhelming when the minimum payments are just too much....I just stopped paying all of them, and concentrated on the rent and utilities, etc.

If you notify them in writing and officially request them not to call you they have to stop.  I suggest keeping a journel/log of each time they call and how many times a day they call  I feel that it is an autodialer set to call.  I've receive a minimum of 5 calls from them a day.  I voluntarily closed my accounts due to their fraudenlent banking practices (do not follow federal law regarding disputed fees and/or amounts).  I have written all 3 credit bureaurs informing them and asking that it be noted on my account so my credit is not destroyed by a pissed off Company.

BECAUSE the banks received bailout money, and now being required to pay it back, they are sticking it to their customers with less than professional ways of collecting or acquiring fees.

They told me 911 created harder policies that govern issuance of credit.  I TOLD THEM 911 created harder policies of my payments to them.  They didn't like that response at all.  Told them if they had changes in their policies, then so would I.  Let's see how they like it.

THAT ALL BEING SAID, JUST WRITE THEM AN FORMALLY REQUEST THEY STOP CALLING YOU.  KEEP A JOURNAL IF THEY DO, THEN SUE THEM IN SMALL CLAIMS COURT FOR VIOLATING THE FAIR DEBT COLLECTION ACT.  You can do this.

Yep, they screw you and anyone they can, don't worry about it. All banks are screwing the people since 1913, Thomas jefferson said this would happen.

Hmmm, yes chase, Lets see , you get free money from the taxpayers, do bank take overs , jack good credit interest rates to high rates, then want people to bend over...I don't see why anyone would pay , yes we all are still waiting for our bailouts also...everyone just stop paying...sounds fair to me, you ?

Chase... I missed one payment and they started 4 months ago. I called back told them off and they fixed the one month. I paid on time for 5 years and I still owe the same money??? I've already paid them back with plenty of interests. How is this legal??? 30% apr from 9% because they feel like screwing people. I don't know what to do. I can't afford it anymore. ;( for 5 years I tried with no rewards.

Thanks to all above for the info.  We are filing bankruptcy also and mostly because the credit card companies increased their payments even thought we were not late.  F*** them now becuase of them we couldn't keep up.  Things were fine before that and I was making all of the payments so I have no sympathy for them now...

Same boat as a lot of you.  On February 4 certain "changes" were made at work.  Those changes included my having to pickup the workload for one of the terminated employees AND the elimination of vacation, sick pay, etc.   Basically a 20% pay cut.  I barely have enough to pay my rent and other  survival expenses.  Good luck.

My debt is interest that accrued from a false adverse effect on my credit report. I had proof and they jacked up my rates anyways. Screw them. They can sell it already cause I'm not paying anymore money for that crap.

Actually, even if you are filing BKO but haven't filed yet, they shouldn't be calling you as long as you give them the info (atty, #, chapter).

Dee. Getting ready to file for bankruptcy and having filed for bankruptcy are two different things. Until you actually file they have no way of verifying that you are indeed protected by bankruptcy laws, so they can still call you.
