I recieved a call at work, on an internal nonlisted number.  I was asked for by my full name.  The woman who called me identified herself as Alana from Nationwide and wanted to talk to me about a payment my wife had made on my truck, which was identified by make and year, which did not clear.  I asked how she had got the number and she claimed my employer's number was listed on my account.  My employer's number was never given to any loan company, as we use a 3rd party employment verification service.  When I asked again why she called she made a claim that a payment my wife had made on the truck did not clear.  When I laughed at her and told her I was not paying on a vehicle that had been paid off for years she changed her story to being an insurance company and I owed money on some insurance on the truck from when I was paying on it.  I told her I would call her back and asked for her name and number.  I was told Alana, from Nationwide at 847-622-0900.  When I called that number on my cell I recieved a message saying my phone carrier would not let me call that number, or someting to that effect.  My wife then called the actual company we used for the truck loan and confirmed that the account has been closed for years and that we owe nothing.

I received a call from someone who said a friend (by name) had used me as a reference.  Then he asked if I was going to be talking to the friend in the next day or 2.  I said no, and he said thank you and hung up.  Weird!

She said she was from Nationwide and Lori Colverson is using me as a reference.  I told her that I do not know a Lori.  She said don't worry about it, and I don't have so be a reference if I don't want to be.  I told her again that I do not know a Lori.  She seemed confused.

Called saying from Nationwide, Not Nationwide Insurance.  Transfered me to someone who is adept at speaking about 120 mph, who said something about recording our conversation and proceeded to then ask for my Social.  Once I said no, he hung up.

Lady with a bad line called not saying where she was from and said it's urgent and that her name was Linda.  I called back and the nationwide recording came on.  I already confirmed payment arrangement so I have no idea why her voicemail stated that it was urgent I talk to Linda at extension 3030. By the way, a male was the voice at that extension.  (strange).

They called @ 3:23am. Do they not pay attention to the time difference? No message!

Just called my cell (5:45 pm). Ignored the call. No voicemail left.

The number is from Nationwide Finance Company but we don't have anything with Nationwide

Nationwide called me and asked if I had an account with them, which I do not. Then said i was most likely being used a reference and to disregard their phone call.

got  a call from an Ashley asking for me (by my first name) saying please call, but didn't say where she was from or what she wanted.

Woman wanted to speak with "someone in HR". Said her name was Marissa, and her company was Necco? Hard to understand, as she was calling from a very crowded fishbowl. HR staff advised to put her straight to voicemail.
