We have been receiving a call from this number at least three times each day.  I don't answer when I don't recognize the number, so I have been waiting for them to leave a message...but they don't.  The caller ID reads 'IL Call'.  I will answer next time to see if someone is there.

I used to work for Sound Lending, and they gleefully break every FTC regulation on the books.  They do not have a do-not-call list.  They do not "scrub" against the national do-not-call list.  They will have the loan officers as well as the telemarketers call from lines that do not have caller id in order to get you to pick up.  They wanted us to use our own cell phones to place telemarketing calls.   And the list goes on...
I don't know who Ace is, but the owners of Sound Lending are Charles Allen Price and Andrew Todd Gavagan.  And they are horrid, wretched excuses for human beings.  They are due for *many* of those $10,000 fines from the FTC, and I would love to see it happen.

I too got another call from this number recently, and when I picked up it was static, and then nothing. I googled and found this thread... I was also just on the phone with someone from equifax not 10 minutes before trying to do an ID Verify for ebay. Has anyone else noticed a corolation with a recent credit/id check?
Just worried about someone stealing my ID(although why I have no idea Im totally broke)

Seems like very sound advice, and great that it worked for you, however, I am on the do-not-call registry, and I still get these calls.  The problem is that they are using auto-dialers, and not everyone who answers the call gets to speak to someone.  There are 2 ways to handle receiving a call from a soliciter: 1) immediately say "remove me from your list please" as soon as they ask for you (if they call you more than one additional time after that, they are subject to a fine), or 2) make nice long enough to find out who is really calling, from where, and what their actual number is.  Without that information, they will just continue to call you back.  Even with that information, if they represent a number of different businesses (as is the case with the calls coming from this IL CAL number), they will call you from each of their clients until they have you on every list.  Each company must keep a do-not-call list, and you are within your rights to ask for a copy.  As long as they already have your address there is no harm in requesting that they send you a copy of their do-not-call policy (they must provide this upon request or face a fine). My suggestion would be to call the Sound Lending phone number and request that they give you the name and number of the telemarketing service they are using since they are ultimately responsible for those calls, and that service is currently in violation of a number of federal regulations (not providing a valid/working number on the caller ID, for one).

I used to get calls all the time from various telemarketing companies.  With all of the do not call laws in place, the answer to all of this is really simple.  1)  go to the government do not call website https://www.donotcall.gov/register/Reg.aspx and register your number.  It doesn't cost anything and it's really easy.  2)  if you do get calls... simply answer and tell the company to take your number off the list and not to call again.  Companies have to scrub their data every month against all do not call registries and keep an internal one.  Although it took about two weeks, i rarely get any calls any more from any companies.

These people have called me 4 times now. Out of the 4 times they called me ,it was in the morning ,including at one call at 8:33am ,and another at 9:18am. While those times might not be terribly early ,they aren't times I like to receive calls from people I don't know either. It seems rude that they would call in the morning ,but I imagine they don't really give a damn. I've been thinking about prank calling these b*****ds using a soundboard or a voice changer the next time they call and putting it on youtube. Or maybe I'll just use my own voice and come up with some crazy things to say. Anyway ,I haven't answered when they call ,because I don't want to give them the idea that the number they are calling gets used regularly. I how ever might answer and make it seems as if I were unaware of that their number had been reported and record the call. If I do I'll post the call on the net and send a link to the site I uploaded it to.

Called the 425 number listed above. The woman who answered the call turned out to be a good friend of the family. She was from Sound Lending and was really cool about everything. She said what happens is they hire out another company to do these phone calls. Since she was a friend I didn't want to get too into it with her but she said she will give my number to the company and tell them to remove my number from their list, but it may take a few days because Sound Lending is hiring another company to make the calls. It is such a relief to know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

These people call me every day, sometimes 2 or 3 times per day. About half the time they call me they hang up when I answer, the other half of the time they ask me if they can speak to someone named Charles. I don't know anybody by the name of Charles, when I tell them this they then start asking me if I am a home owner, if I am looking to purchase a home, ect. and sometimes they want me to take some survey. Every time I am able to talk to somebody I ask to be removed from their calling list. Yet I still get a call from them, every single day. It is my cell phone they are calling and I am on a prepaid plan, so they are wasting alot of my minutes. I just wish they would stop harassing me.

They get your name and number from public records, the county assessor's office where the title of your house is recorded. It is a violation of the TOS for companies to use that public information that way, and if you can lull the caller long enough to point out that fact, you probably won't receive another call.  The key is to keep them on the line long enough to give you the name and location of their company, so they know they cannot just hang up because you have enough to contact the company and complain.  Sweetness and light - then drop the hammer on them!  You've then not only wasted their time, but you've probably solved your hang-up problem with at least one company, or until they change their number and start all over again.  I haven't received another call since I got the name and phone number of this caller. The number that comes up on the caller ID is NOT the number for the business.  And, depending on where you are located, the business will be different.  They are all, apparently, using the same telemarketing service.

Everyday I get these calls and nobody answers. I call back and get nothing. I just called the number that the person above did some searching and found. The lady answered "Sound Lending how can I help you" I simply told her to remove my name and phone number from their call list. She said she would pass it on to her telemarketers tonight. Sounds like a shady operation to me, not to mention the backround noice was not that of any business I had ever heard before. Sounded like she was sitting in her living room. Haha... I think we are getting duped by the fat ugly woman behind the line of a 1-800 porn line.

Anyways, hope this works

Okay folks, I have finally gotten someone on the phone from this number.  I cannot guarantee that the info is any good, but here's how the conversation went.  I answered the phone and finally got a person, asking for my spouse.

I then asked "may I ask who is calling?"
The response was "this is [name inaudible} from Sound Lending."
Because she also mumbled the name of her company, I asked her to repeat herself, and she definitely said "Sound Lending".
So I asked "and where are you located?"
Her response was "Everett Washington"
And I asked "may I have a telephone number where you can be reached, please"
To which she responded "there is no direct line, I would have to call you back."
To which I responded, "you want to talk to me about my mortgage, but you do not have a number where I can call you back, you would have to call me back?"
She said "just a minute" and then came back on the line almost within a few seconds and gave me this number:  1-425-265-9100, which is an Everett, Washington number, but I do not yet know if it is good.
I asked her if her company was represented by a bank, or if they just sold mortages, and she said they just sell mortgages.  I asked if they had a number with the Better Business Bureau, and she said no.

Then I said to her "okay, now, I want you to remove my number from your call list, and I do not want you to call here again."
She said "Okay ma'am, I will do that, sorry for the inconvenience, you have a nice evening."
I said "thank you, you too", and hung up.

The number is good according to what I can find.

I also find that they are, in fact, members of the BBB, and appear to be in good standing despite their horrible sales tactics.  Ace Mortgage listed in a post above appears to have offices in the same general vacinity.  This leads me to suspect they are all hiring the same telemarketing company, or are in business together, and that they are using this bogus caller ID number as a group.  What they have done is monkeyed with their "out" lines to show a number on their caller ID which does not exist (another trick some of these businesses use is to use the do-not-call registry number as the caller ID number, so that if you try to call them back, you just get sent to the registry to basically "take care of it yourself" - doesn't work), so they can harass us at home without any backlash.  I'm going to try to get my telephone service provider to contact theirs (now that I have their number, this will be easy) to put a stop to this.

Enjoy!

The calls began yesterday (8/6/07) and I've been getting one about every 1-2 hours during the day.  I'm getting the same thing as everyone else, no one there when I answer (hangs up immediately) and can't dial the number back.

Make sure, when you start getting calls like this from unknown sources, that your credit report doesn't show anything suspicious.  An unknown person who has your name and phone number already has TOO MUCH INFORMATION!  This, especially if your number, like mine, is unlisted.  This is a RED FLAG.  Also, if this call is coming in with a number which cannot be dialed back, this is a violation of regulations in some states.  Check with your attorney general and the FCC.  Also, if you do manage to get a response, and the person sounds like they may be calling from overseas, ask if the call is being recorded.  If it is, and you have not been notified, that is also a violation.  Many times (just so you don't all panic) these "companies" get our names and phone numbers from public records (from the county assessor, for example, if you own your home).  The use of those records for such purposes is, you guessed it, another violation.  So, the best thing you can do is ask who is calling, who they work for, and where they are calling from.  If you cannot get that information, call your telephone service provider and complain that you are receiving numerous harrassing phone calls from an unknown caller after asking them repeatedly to stop and not call you back, tell them the number on the caller ID cannot be called back because it says it is out of service (the caller might have rigged their out lines to show a bogus number), and would like a trace put on your phone.  Your provider will then contact their provider and ask for cease and desist.  If you can get the information (probably not) from the phone company about who was calling, you can then file a complaint with your attorney general's office.  Usually the phone company will not give out this information.  They take action on your behalf.  If the calls are coming from overseas, this is probably a no go, but worth a try.  The calling party's phone service provider, if not overseas, will not appreciate their customers harassing the customers of other service providers, and will probably cut them off.  A lot of work, yes, but these people are predators.

Same with me they keep calling but nobody is there when I answer, when I try to call back says number is not in service.  One time someone was on the other line and asked for me, I asked who was calling, she said they were Ace Mortgage Company.  I asked her to remove my number from their data base but am still getting the calls........

I think it might be a pay phone from Great Lakes Naval Base.   My son is there and the other day he called my cell phone (1st call from him) from an 847 number.  When I tried to call it back, it said that the number is no longer in service.   Today, my home phone got a call from 847-649-5503 IL Call.  No message, but when I tried to call it back, it said that the number is no longer in-service.  I think I may have missed a call from my son at Great Lakes.  They are allowed only pay phone use and only with a calling card.  That could explain why it doesn't accept calls.
