i worked for this company. it actually is located in roselle.

I work from home and get calls from some guy (always male) from TAI Chicago, raising money for police, firefighters, the Wishing Well Foundation and others.  I am not exaggerating when I say that I get 5-10 calls from them a week, requesting money for the same charities multiple times.  You can say no to one guy, and another one calls you back the next day.  It's incessant.  Unfortunately I don't have caller ID so  dash for the phone every time.

5/10/08 3:39pm - caller ID # 1-847-760-5164, reads "Elgin, IL":
 Received call, caller said they were TAI calling for some
 charity (think he said Firefighters), told him "not interested"
 (since charities get little of proceeds thru telemarketers).

 Received another call, claiming to be TAI for Firefighters,
 would swear it was same guy as just 13 minutes before.

 1st problem - when I asked why they were calling me a second
 time that same day, he denied it was them and he claimed it was
 only the first time they were calling my #.

 2nd problem - when I told him to take my name and # off their
 call list, he argued back something to the effect of "Don't you
 care about Firefighters?".  I re-requested that they take my name
 and # off their call list, and finally got him grudgingly to go
 along.

I originally wasn't going to follow-up but, after seeing all this, I'm thinking I should pass info along to Illinois A/G office.

As to 4/10 post from Susan - unfortunately "Do Not Call" carved out a number of exceptions, including those for charities, so unfortunately some of this nuisance is entirely legal.  DNC would've been much better if we, the subscribers to telephone services, could decide individually which categories of calls we're willing to accept.

Guy talked. Asked for Ande. Said yes? And he was like well are you gonna sit there or are you gonna go get him, and I said Ande is a girls name and he said excuse me I am going to go put a bullet in my head and hung up. Wierd

I didn't pick up the phone since I didn't recognize the number, but it seems I'm getting a rash of these **** calls again.  The DNC list is worthless.

Called today at 5:49 PM.  Did not leave a message.  Am glad I found this website, sounds like whoever is making these calls is up to no good.  It will be interesting to see if these mopes try to call me again.

Called.  Left no message on the answering machine.  Called the number back that I got on the caller ID.  No answer.  Third time today.  Will call the attorney general.  Thanks for identifying this.

Got call today from 1-847-760-5161. when I picked up they hung up. I tried calling back and it kept ringing..

Asked for my husband (by name, like he was a friend).  I told him he wasn't home & the guy hung up quickly.

We have received repeated calls from this number. Caller ID says "Elgin, IL 847-760-5161." They never leave a message. I finally answered one of their calls. They asked for my husband who wasn't home. When I asked if I could take a message they said, "No, I'll call him back & hung up". It sounded strange enough that I looked up the number on google & found a list of complaints about it.

Not the best grammar is an understatement.  WOW!!!   Sounds like the dumb a** people who call from this number.  Anyone know what the name of the company is?

Fund raising call. Leaves hang ups in 3-4pm and 7-8:30pm  during January of 2008. Chicago time frames. Young woman would double talk to my requests on why they were calling me.

calls sometimes. never leaves a message. i called them back and some guy andwered. There was a lot of noise in the background.

These guys are the worst.  They always call and ask for my wife and if I say she's not here, they just hang up.  I tried telling them she wanted to be removed from the list, and the guy (in a fake Chicago accent) said he didn't believe me and that she had to tell him that she wanted removed.  Then he said he'd call her back later and hung up.  They're typically calling for Chicago firefighters or police, and are easily the rudest telemarketers I've ever experienced.

I have received several calls from this number. Trying to raise money. These guys are scamming the public. This morning, I got a call. and the other party hung up when I answered.

It means the person has an infant in the home, and the phone calls are waking the infant up.  Might not be the best grammar, but I got the gist of it...

Got a call today.  This number 847-760-5161.  Asked for my 10 yr old daughter by name.  These guys are crossing the line.  Said he was with vietnam veterans association.  Got irate when i told him to 'take me off his list'.  Called police.  Police said to report to attorney general at 1312-814-3000.  If engough people report him they will prosecute.  Please call the attorney general.  thx

He sounded like a young man disguising his voice to make it deeper. 'said he's calling from the Illinois Correctional Facility, 'told him "no english" and he said he'll call again. Go figure.

Said they were doing annual fundraising for wishing well, last wishes for dying people.

Asked for my husband and when I said he was asleep and that I was his wife and if I could help him he said "No, you definitely can't.  I'll call back.  Can't stand getting these calls!!!!

When I answered there was breathing and a TV or something in the background...after about 15 seconds they hung up.  I called back and it just rings and rings.

I called number back.  Nobody would answer.

I picked it up and heard talking in the background.  Caller didn't respond to my answer, then hung up.

Phone rang.  I picked it up - silence.

Obnoxious phone call from "Arturo" from mcHenry County Police Assn. wouldn't take no for an answer.   I finally hung up.
