It's a scam. How could Chase be calling me when I do not have a account with them?

People please.
Fraud or Not...
Call the 1-800 # on back of Chase card.
1.) Spoke with Chase moments ago. She was eager to have the number due to she has previously escalated the issue of people calling and reporting it as fraud. I quote, "Chase will always leave you a message, don't give them extra information. They already have your phone number" (cell...which has not been given them). She went through my account, charges etc and not a thing wrong with my account. Poor Communication between departments? Doubt it. Legitimate companies will leave a message. You can always visit a branch and have them call fraud dept on your behalf and figure it out.
2.) I used *67 and returned the call. It went to a message stating that it is a discontinued number and to call carrier yadda yadda...then I waited a moment longer and someone picked up. She immediately asked for the number I received the call from since it didn't show caller ID, which I refused. I asked about her company etc and she said she was unable to give me that info unless I gave my phone number. WTF? That's not gonna happen. I harassed her for a while..it just felt good.

You decide. Fraud or not? Clearly as a collective people we can't seem to figure it out. It's unfortunate that we have gotten to this new paranoia because of the scamming.

This call was from Chase fraud prevention. However, I immediately ended the call without giving the caller any personal information, and called the number on the back of my Chase card. The customer service rep knew the correct details of the call (fraud prevention tried to reach me at home, then at work), verified the information fraud prevention had intended to discuss with me, and lifted the temporary hold on my card that had been placed on it after the call that I'd ended earlier. They also advised me to do just what I'd done: when in doubt, call the number on the back of the card.

I got a call from this number.

They asked for my wife (by name).  I said, "this is her husband."  He said, "Is this [my name]?"

I said yes, he explained that he was from Chase Fraud department.  He then proceeded to read off recent transactions to me (including a payment) to see if they were legit.  Then he told me that they were closing my account, and asked me to verify the street name of my address (which I gave him, because he needs more than just the street name to do anything.)

When I called the number on the back of my card (to verify that this was legit), it was (of course) Chase.  I entered my CC#, and got an automated message saying my account had been closed.

Either this is legit, or it's so well organized as to be undetectable as a scam.

I would not say anyone has a "right" to call anyone.  However, as you probably intend to say, it is not illegal. UNLESS you tell them to stop calling.  Then, in most states, it becomes criminal harassment.

I received a call and VM on my mobile telephone stating this was a call from "Mike" at Chase Cardmember Services.  Mike seemed new as he did not have his script down and the VM message was a bit "bumbling." I called the number on the back on my Chase card and the representative told me there was no notice on my account that Chase attempted to contact me, and that there is ALWAYS a notice on the account when Chase attempts to contact a card holder.

I tried calling the number and received a recorded greeting that the number was a "non working number for Chase" and that I should call the number on the back of my Chase card.

Chase has caught a lot of fraudulent activity on our account over the years - hence the reason I called Chase, but this appears to be marketing rather than fraud investigation.

Read up on the do not call registry.  It isn't a blanket coverage so that no business can ever call you.  How would your mechanic let you know your car was ready or the doctor's office let you know your results from a test?  Businesses have a right to call you if you have already chose to do business with them.

I just had this number calling on my personal phones on file from Chase.
It was Chase Fraud department. They noticed charges on my husband card from different part of the country while we were on vacation and even blocked his card during our vacations upnorth.

While reviewing the accounts (without me mentionning any of my numbers), they had in files all the last transactions, the ones I did myself with my own card for paying utilites and the ones they even declined for us during our vacations (a gas station, taxi...) with the correct amounts and as well the ones fraudulent from gas stations during the 4th July week-end and even today.

If it was a scam, it would be so a very Chase card internal one to have access to all these information.
They are still blocking one of the card to prevent more fraud while we are checking all our purchases recently till I will call back to the number 800-704-0285.

But instead I called to the regular number behind the card.

I received a call from this number but no one left a message so I called back the number and it said this is a non-working chase number and to call the number on the back of your card if you need to talk to chase.  Probably someone trying to scam people - I don't know how people can dream this stuff up.

Why can't you people on here give a correct answer.  Do not respond if you are not 100 percent sure of what you are writing on here.  How can someone say it is fraud and another person say that it is not.

This is not a valid Chase phone number. When you call it, it says it is a non-working number for Chase and they ask you to call the number on the back of your card. Do NOT give anyone who calls from this number personal information. Just call the number on the back of your card if you have issues or concerns.

I got a call from this number today and it was a valid Chase number. It was a representative calling about a fraud claim we had open, to verify whether a charge that came though was valid or not. She gave me a name, 855 callback number, plus extension. I was not asked to verify any information other than whether a purchase I made was valid, and they had the retailer's name and amount, which matched my purchase.

This one is real. If you don't have a chase account they probably have the wrong number, it happens. Just call the back of the card if you think it is a scam.

Those numbers are not scams. Chase USA owns those numbers and uses those numbers to call you about fraudulent activity and other things. Chase might call from their office phone but don't allow incoming calls and instead must use their 1-800 number.

Received a call from this number today. Caller said his name was Robert and that he was calling with Chase Bank concerning a business card that may have fraudulent charges on it. Got the bosses name right as well as his Wife's and gave a possibly fake last 4 digits on a card. I figured it was legit and was about to send it.

Came here, read the reviews. I called back the number that the caller called from and sure enough, it was a non-working number at Chase USA. Then I tried the direct number that he asked me to have my boss call back. The number called in to a recorded voice message that says you can save hundreds of dollars on your car insurance and to press 1 to find out more.

Clearly a scam. Judging from a quick Google search this number appears to be out of China.
Here's the scam number he gave me: 1-800-704-7285

I work at JP Morgan Chase........this is not a current and valid Chase phone #. When you call the number back you get a recording that says "You have reached a non-working number at Chase USA, if you are an existing card holder and need customer service, we ask that you call the toll free number on the back of your credit card."...............and then the call disconnects.
