The mosy annoying people
Jane 2011-06-06 21:00:27 Unknown
stated they were from the FOP and were asking for $$$$$$$
John 2011-06-06 21:00:27 Unknown
They asked for me by name, and the salesman sounded like he was from a boilerplate stock operation. He claimed to be with the DuPage County Sheriff's FOP or some such. At any rate, it's probably a marketing company.

Claimed to be fund raising for the Kane County FOP - I told him it was BS (I'm with the County) and to not call again. Very persistent.

Please, everyone...DO NOT DONATE to the Wishing Well Foundation. They have just been rated the worst "Charity" in the USA. They use telemarketing firms to do all of their fundraising and they will call you multiple times a day...most times, the people working at these firms are people who have just been released from prison. Look at Charity Navigator and see. They have been rated with 0 stars. They give only around 5-10% of funds received to terminally ill children. They give 80% to the telemarketing firms. This is criminal and I don't know how they still manage to keep their non profit status. It does no use to tell them to stop calling...they just call more. File a complaint with your state's attorney general. They are already under investigation from Minnesota's AG. We just moved and changed our phone number and I haven't received a call since...heaven! This firm also calls for IL Vietnam Veterans, America's Food Bank, Disabled Children, DuPage Sheriff, etc. They are all the same...DO NOT DONATE!!!!!

Received a call at 8:37am on Saturday 3/12/2011 from 847-403-1920 automated stating please hold for the next available rep. So I waited. A young man who did not identify himself asked for my husband and when I said he was unavailable he said he could speak with me. Basically said he was from The Wishing Well and they were asking for donations for children who were dieing from terminal illnesses. Asked If I wanted to donate? I asked him to send information to me before I would donate, he pressured me into trying to make a donation before I received any correspondence from them in the mail. Told him I was unable to do this and he very politely said to me THANKS FOR NOTHING and hung up on me. Call said it was from Wheeling IL. I think it may be a SCAM.

Do not donate to these people!! They hire telemarketers who keep 80% of your "donation" Complete scam and they will NEVER stop calling you!

Wishing Well Foundation has a very poor rating. Very little of the donation goes to the charitable program. Most goes to the tele-fundraising company.

Received pressure soliciation call from someone claiming to be from wishing well foundation of hofmann estates IL. when I asked about the foundation they tried to pressure a donation. When I said well you are not going to let me look you up - they got off the phone. Call came from 847 232 3324 (Park Ridge). It is listed as unlisted in reverse lookup. Not willing to pay to see who it is - will report it. There is a wishing well foundation but it is out of Louisiana. Too bad someone is trying to scam a charity

Heavy pressure to give. Told them that I had heard of Make A Wish Foundation but I had heard they---Wishing Well Foundation--were really not legit. She avoided that..and of course said they were...and kept asking me if I cared to grant a terminally ill child's request? They don't want to send info on their organization...just want the money....run from this one... If they were legit why would they hide their phone number?

I didn't answer because it came up unavailable, but I have gotten several calls from this number in the past.

Man called the house, asked for my partner by first name. I said she's unavailable, he just said, "I'll call back," disgusted-like, and hung up. There was a lot of background noise, like a call center. I thought it was a workmate until I found the comments on this site. Thanks for posting!

I've been getting a lot of calls lately from the 847 prefix. I answer the phone with my speakerphone button, hit the mute button and wait. I can hear people in the background like its a call center or something. This last guy just ended up yelling my name into the phone. I also called back and it says the number is out of service. Freaks me out. Is there a way to track these people down? I'd like to start placing 100s of annonymous calls to their family so they can see how obnoxious and unwelcoming it is.
847-805-0910 2008-04-08 22:01:06 Unknown
It's a telemarketer soliciting for money. Mine was some firefighters' association wanting a donation. Once you're on their phone list they call unrelentlessly, so good luck.
Randy 2008-04-05 14:57:43 Unknown
This nuimber calls at least once a day. My answering always picks up and no message left. Is there anway of stopping this. I have already signed up on the do not call registry.
LCP 2008-03-18 23:12:06 Unknown
I answered this call because it was not toll free, but immediately knew I had made a mistake by the background noise. I heard someone say "Mrs. _____?" right before I hung up.
Mimi 2008-03-18 19:17:31 Unknown
Called on March 18th, says "unavailable", no message left on answering machine.

Woman called from 847-805-0910 to ask for a donation for the Wishing Well Foundation - a real organization, but not out of Hoffman Estates, Illinois. I told her I would "look" at the material and decide if she wanted to send it to me - she said, we "need to confirm a donation" in order to send materials. So, I said ok, $10, but not on the phone - send me info and I'll send it in. I'm a Licensed Therapist, so I work with non-profits and charitable organizations all the time - knew it was a scam, but am hoping they really will send me something so I can use it as material to report to the Attorney General. Called the number back, and like everyone else, said "not in service." I asked how they got my phone number as I'm on DO NOT CALL Registry - they "claim" it's different for a fundraising organization looking for donations with non-profits versus "selling" you something - they turned me over to someone who would "verify" my address - they called it the "mail department;" I made him tell ME the address - I revealed nothing. We'll see. Willing to help out the REAL organization, not this scam....good luck people! Beware!
