Caller wanted to know if either my husband or I had been covered by any insurance company other than Rural Carrier Benefit Plan in the past 12 months. (I think he said 12 months---could have been more. I was so scattered when he called that I don't remember!) Explained that husband had been a City Letter Carrier, but my insurance was better; so we were both covered under mine. I had to retire on disability---so I gave him dates that S.S. qualified me and date I  actually retired from P.O.  Also told him that my Medicare starts sometime this month. He said that seemed to be all the info he needed. He didn't ask for any personal info such as birth date or S.S.#, so I felt it was a legit call.   I guess the insurance company is trying to get out of paying something, or trying to get money back from something they paid and decided it might be someone else's responsibility.

Francesco from Zero Sum called and said he had a question about our health insurance.  We owe no debt and did not call back, we did, however, contact our health insurance company who promised to look into the matter, and get back to us. I would recommend that action to anyone receiving a call like this.

ACS RECOVERY is helping Cigna and other insurance companies with a process called subrogation --- helath insurance companies will send out letters to their members when they receive claims that are for injuries, like bck pain, knee pain, fractures, they do thiss to determine if someone else is at fault and liable, for instance did you get hur at work, or in a motor vehicle accident, did you slip and all at Walmart, etc... this is NORMAL and actually is documented as a policy in our health insurance plan. All health insurance companies do this, and no it has nothing to do with the government or Obama.  ACS RECOVERY will call you if you did not respond to he letter that as previously sent to you, or if they need more information about the injury  you received treatment for. If your injury was due to a motor vehicle acident or is wok related, etc your health insurance is NOT liable to pay for those charges that were incurred due to someone else's fault (ie: worker's comp injury, mva where someone else is at fault), and by law has the right to go after who is responsible for reimbursement for monies they have paid out.  I have worked for doctors, as well as health insurance companies and what they are trying to do is standard practice, as well I have been on the receiving end of their letters and phone calls - due to injuries I have sustained that Cigna paid on - luckily my injuries occurred at home - so there was not one for them to recoup from - they are liable for those.

The only time they will try and coup funds on a subrogation issue is when someone else is at fault, meaning the accident occurred at work, or an mva where the other driver was at fault, or on someone else's property stuff like that - if you are the cause of the MVA they do not recoup from you.

Hope that explains things for you all - and yes I too got the call from ACS Recovery. No one is trying to get out of paying your health claims - they are just trying to get reimbursement if they are due it by the parties responsible.

Dude relax they're not fabricating injuries they get files to review and call out insurance members if you didn't  receive treatment most of the time it could be that your doctor can be making up these illnesses to get $$$$ from your insurance its a real problem mainly among elder senior citizens report it to your insurance/attorney that way you don't get scammed acs is still running their not doing anything illegal they're hired by the insurance to investigate possible frauds and to see if there is someone else at fault for members injuries

Survey
They are basically employed by big health insurance companies so they can figure out if there is someone else who should be paying the bill other than the insurance company. it can either be a good thing or a bad if your at fault you have to pay some of the bill and say you got hit by a car they'll basically go after them so they would pay for the doctors and not the insurance then that way they can keep you from paying much higher prices for insurance therefor they can get more people to join their insurance company more $$$ for them. They're not going to get out of paying for your injuries if you could get someone to pay for it wouldn't you do the same? Its legit their just investigating if theres someone whos owing the insurance companies money the sooner u answer the questions the sooner theyll stop bothering you their just doing their jobs you can also confirm with your insurance companys if they call they usually leave a callback number

The blame DOES GO TO OBAMA. Veryone needs to get there heads out of the sand/rectums, ad see that his policies have caused several businesses to let people go due to increased taxing and obtrusive requirements placd on small businesses. Obama should be fired.

Our president doesn't own all the blame for the problems with our economy. Quit reading your 1948 version of Paul Samuelson's famous economics book (still in print) and look at the world economy. Europe and Asia are both struggling with their economy. So what? Well, they buy our "Stuff". They buy lots and lots of our Stuff. When they stop buying our Stuff, we have to lay off workers. Their problems also impact bank rates, stock markets and every other piece of our economy. There isn't much any president can do about this except try to keep our economy from exploding like the economies of Greece, Spain, Italy and Portugal. Read some news. Look at the extreme measures those countries are having to go to just to keep their ENTIRE COUNTRY from bankruptcy. There are other things you can blame on our president but he's been doing pretty well with the economy compared to other world leaders. Get informed about the world economy; it's not just our economy anymore.

Think you ment to say, "Thank you Mr. Bush and the Mr. Speaker, Mr. Bohner", for your unenployment. And if they have their way and you have a pre-existing medical condition, Mr. Speaker and Romney will insure you don't get health insurance.

You can' put all blame on someone for not having a job.  Obama has caused this country to go to dogs.  All people want is a handout.  Some people want to work but Obama has made it easier for them to sit home and draw govt.checks and food stamps.  Obama must be voted out.

AMEN!!!!!     ASK YOURSELF IF YOU ARE ANY BETTER OFF NOW THEN YOU WERE FOUR YEARS AGO?   I CAN HONESTLY SAY IM NOT.  ITS NOT A MATTER OF BLAME BUT WE GAVE OBAMA THE CHANCE TO START FIXING THE ECONOMY AND HES FAILED.  IF YOU OWN A BUSINESS AND YOUR EMPLOYEE DOESNT DO HIS JOB OR HURTS YOUR BUSINESS, DO YOU KEEP HIM/HER ON OR GET RID OF HIM?   WELL OBAMA HAS NOT HELPED THE AMERCIAN PEOPLE ONE IOTA, SO I AGREE HE WONT GET MY VOTE AGAIN.

So we can live in a country so ****ed up that we actually have a black president in a nation where blacks are always claiming that they get mistreated?

Well said, td.  I just came here to find out if I am obligated to respond to them.  My daughter broke her arm on a trampoline last month.  Daughter's arm is fine and the insurance has already paid out but I wonder if ACS is going to make trouble if I give them more information.

Guy,   First, learn to spell...it is Reagan.  Second, while much of what you say is true about jobs and tax credits (and I agree GE paying nothing is a travesty) you are overlooking the fact that single payer healthcare must still be paid for by someone---the producers.  Currently 51% of our citizens pay 0 income taxes! Zero!  How is that sustainable?  For all their systemic flaws, I will gladly choose to pay a private insurance company who has a vested interest in retaining my business, rather than a government entity which is by its very nature inefficient because after taking my money it must first sustain itself before it then gives to another.  An insurance company, or bank, or oil company, or any other industrial whipping boy does not have the right to throw you in jail for not parting with your money--the Federal government retains that right.  Besides, if the Feds opened up cross state insurance purchases tomorrow, competition would increase, the prices would drop, and the government could go back to its Constitutionally mandated duties.  If they got the heck out of micro-managing every aspect of healthcare, the free market would set the price which miraculously is affordable for all.  Let the  people decide....it's called a Democracy!

They are ACS Recovery Services and they are used by Aetna and other healthcare insurance to get back the money the insurer has paid especially if you have been injured in an accident or have other insurance.
