There is a fairly common IRS or "tax scam" being practiced by scammers in both Canada and the USA.

I got a call on my answering machine from 848-260-1787 saying I should call at this # ASAP as there is a check fraud case on my name & they are going to report to some bureau if I didn't call call back.. When I called & asked their company/identity  the guy said 'his name is James Barker & I owe money to IRS from 2008-2012'. I asked to talk with the supervisor & a lady (Susan) came on line told me she calling from  Federal Govt office on Pensylvania Av, Washington DC.
I knew they were trying to extort some money from me.. .

It is a Scam & total fraud.....!

Received a call from the same number four times stating that I have been arrested for not paying taxes and I will be arrested. When they called fifth time I told them I have reported their number to the local police station and then they said sorry and hung up.

Received a call from this number today. A guy with asia-indian accent informs of a law-suit from Crime Investigation Bureau. Then he transfers the call to a "supervisor", a woman hiding her Asian-indian accent in tongue twisting fashion, who talks about 3 investigations ...... As I inform that I would be contacting the township's police ASAP, she hangs up.

Yes! this Beeetcch called me saying he was pressing charges against my dad, and is accused of 3 federal crime. Lol i cried for 2 hours, then i looked up the number, and I just wanna say thanks to all you commenters. :)

I got a call from this number and called the Federal Trade Commission at 877-382-4357 and reported the threats that were made. I also provided FTC with other such numbers and they said that they would start an investigation. I think if the FTC received more complaints from others that may have received such threats, it might provide stronger reasons for them to take immediate and strong actions to stop this kind of harassment.

I also got 2 calls from these A-holes today.  I called back and got a message:  "The MagicJack customer you have called can not take your call at this time."  Really?  A federal officer with a MagicJack???  They immediately called me back, asking for someone whom I know previously had my phone number.  I told them, in no uncertain terms, that guy no longer had this number and they were to cease and desist calling me at once.  He started apologizing and assured me I would no longer be called.  Bunch of idiot pricks.  

I also received a call today.  They said they are from the State Investigative Department and they have received a Legal Affidavit about 3 Federal charges that are going to be filed against me.  I have called my local police department to investigate this matter.

Got calls from this number saying Officer Mike Thomas, I am investigating this guy who is trying to cheat innocent people, I am also investigating this people in India and USA by top officials, hopefully they are behind bars.

Its a fraud that is currently being tracked outside of the country.  Its now big enough where the government is getting involved.  Its a slow process but eventually they will shut them down.

Got a call, from this number , when called back , nobody picked up, but they called immediately
Same as above, started threating me, and saying police will be at door immediately,
Wanted me to agree to settle charges or go to court, but would provide no information about reason

they r using magic jack phone...and sounds like north gujarati.they are not in usa but in india Gujarat.

I got call from this number telling me that I have ignored several communication reagrding legal matter and I can be arrested if I do not talk to chief investigation officer. I said " whatever you have send me in mail" so the guy said "we have sent you enough notice and this is your last chance". I laughed at him and he hung up. Seems like a hoax and harrasing phone call.

Fraud! Call you and threaten saying that they will send an officer to arrest you if you don't transfer the money. In my case, it was apparently $1400! They didnt even have my correct name. Reported to local police. Really hope they get busted soon and stop harassing innocent people.

Got a call from this number by officer Mark Thomas CIS suggesting that they have received a Legal affidavit against me with three federal charges and suggested that I call back to avoid any legal action. It is a scam!!!

Received messages on both home and work numbers from a man claiming to be an Crime Investigative Officer and stating that a criminal complaint had been filed against me.  The message provided this phone number 8482601787 as a call back number and told me to call back immediately.  When I called the number, no one picked up but I was told that the line was a Magic Jack customer's line so this is clearly a scam.  Will report it to my local police.  Hopefully they will be able to catch these guys.

This is pure 100 % hoax. Done by East  Indian Gujarati people . When I called and told them FBI and police is after them. Guy became defensive, started speaking defiantly in Hindi and Gujarati with abusive words included. Guess I got to him. Encourge others to call the number too and give them hard time. Just plain old PUNKS.

Got a call from this number today morning. It is operated by at least 3 East Indian (2 male and 1 female).  They state that they are from the Crime Investigative Unit and say you have not paid 2010 tax. They ask if we know wahat is FBI and do you know what is OBAMA?
I have made complaint to the local police department. Hopefully people are aware that this is 100% pure unadulterated fraud. Hope to catch these folks soon.

I received call today afternoon asking me to talk to particular named person. When I asked him who he is calling? He said he is calling from Crime Investigation Department. I repeatedly asked who he want to talk about? He was angry and shouting said "Fxxc" and so many other abusive words in Indian "Gujarati Language". I had to put down the receiver. I guess his intention for calling to many people like this..

I received a phone call from John McKenzie, stating he was from NJ department  of investigations, and had 3 charges against me and I will be arrested in the 30 minutes, unless I tell him, how I was to resolve the outstanding IRS bill for 2012 tax year. What a scam.

The same thing JUST happened to me around 5 minutes ago, and they said the same exact thing he said to you guys. Its was a stupid guy named David, and he said that the police were going to come to our house in 10 minutes. This idiot called me back when I hung up on him the first time, and then I went straight to the computer and looked up the number, and this came up. These guys seriously have no life, but I hope they get busted. I have reported my police too.

I received the same call several calls from this number and from Justin.  Each time the person claims to be an officer in a crime unit.   They claim they have an affidavit with 3 counts of something (the call was hard to understand) and in the background there was someone saying the same exact thing to someone else.  They asked me to verify my SS# and I wouldn't give it to them and told them to tell me what they have and they wouldn't give it to me.  I told them that the IRS doesn't outsource these types of matters to India and to stop calling.  When you dial the number they leave, it's clear that it's transferring to another country outside of the US.  I did meet with an IRS agent about it and reported it since they called so many times and the agent verified that it was a scam after looking at my information.  Don't buy their story, it is a SCAM.    Report to your local police department.

I got this phone call from Alex Morgan too. I do not understand why FBI and CIA not arrest this scam guy.

I got this call today from Alex Morgan and said something. This person should get arrested rather than us.
He's the criminal, harassing good citizens.  I hope FBI and CIA do something about it.

My elder sister got a call from this number, with similar threat of IRS and arrest in 30 minutes.
She contacted the local police and reported the occurrence.

This is a scam, and should be reported and stopped otherwise our residents might suffer unnecessary issues.

My sister got call from this number and the guy threat her about IRS and said she will be arrested. To threat older people like that can give heart attack.
