Oh yes that company is a scam. They wanted me to drive and bring money for class.
yes this is in Florida.  After I told him I had my PEC card already and other cards, he hung up the phone.  I pray those guys are locked up and shut down. They are getting rich and not giving anyone a job. So people please beware.

That sounds cool for you guys.. I'm an epileptic computer guy.  had different certs in that area over the years. employers had the attitude - we know you know it...we aren't going to pay for it. so some lapsed. They do me no good now.

Just took the class in Ft Walton at 40 Beal Pkwy. I hope I didn't get scammed out of 285. I can't afford it. I have adopted 6 kids in addition to my 2.

You think you know it all huh? You can't even get your words together. You sound like one of the recruiters I talked to earlier this week. Plain dumb. A guy named Mario and Tom called me and when I call them..they never answer. What do you have you say about that? Too many bad postings to even compare to the semi positive on here. You just be one of them. It's ridiculous how you guys talk like you're trying to help others get employed your a wolf in sheeps clothing.

For everyone who is concerned about Offshore Recruiters at 40 Beal Pkwy SW in Ft. Walton Beach then you should be.
I too almost got scammed out of $285.00 for the Safe Gulf Class but after further research I found out why no one is getting a call back for a job on the oil rig. The MAIN Resaon is:

You have to obtain a T.W.I.C card which is issued thru the Transportation Services Administration which is a government agency. Here is the link below from the TSA's website to research further for yourselves.

http://www.tsa.gov/stakeholders/transportatio ... tial-twic%C2%AE

I also called some other private companies and was told that you can not board a port or get to the oil rig without the T.W.I.C. card and they know this...so they take your $$ and don't tell you b/c they don't need you anymore.

You will have to go in person and they take get your finger prints, take your picture along with your documentation and send it to Washington, DC to be ran thru the Homeland Security systems and once you are cleared, then you have to physically go pick it up (this usually takes 2-3 weeks)...then you can apply for oil rig jobs...but I have also noticed that you will need the SafeGulf/Land & HUET Water Training which consists of protocol to survive in the water in case you will have to evacuate a helicopter; as some jobs you may be transported via helicopter to the oil rig.

They almost got me, but thank God I read these posts..I am much appreciative, so this should take the mystery out of why there are no call backs from Offshore Recruiters after they have taken your $285.00 + because they already know that you need a TWIC card and everyone may not be able to obtain one. I did hear that they will take some felonies, but not sure of the ones they will...so Good Luck everyone :)

This is not a scam what the problem is you got is some people who dont know how to follow directions. Marine Consultants is not a scam I know numerous people that have gotten placed through them. You idiots talking about scamming have no idea how many placement companies are out in the states. And then you got dumb people believing that theyre a scam because you got public forums like this and one person says its a scam and they end up believing these claims. And as for jobs being available in the industry if you people did some research youd see that entry level positions are virtually always open for employment. If Marine Consultants was a scam theyd be shut down. Now as for certifications. As anybody with a brain should know youd have to pay for a class to recieve any certification. And the instructor of the class is certified to teach the class of course he isnt going to teach you for peanuts. Its not a scam but if you want to believe obama is an alien cause someone online told you go for it.

Strange, I got same company offshoremarinerecruiters.com given to me after a very long conversation w/ a guy as it's posted in the Thrifty nickel. The number is always different, when I finally got a call the gentleman explained to me he apologized for the lengthy wait but that he was the owner of the company, went over all my schooling, certifications, job references, etc.. He was impressed & said in my case a minimum of 4k-6k a well would be to be expected. I had to pay the 285$ & come for an 8 hr. Class. He strongly stressed to me he hoped I could pass a background check & " NOT PISS OUT A POT PLANT " literally, I told him not a worry, & we both agreed it would not be waste of either of our time. Now I know for a fact you do need the card/certification to get even on the helliport on these rigs, whether chef or whatever. Told me it's usually two weeks on & one off, 12 hour shifts & that I would split a bunk & room w/ another person so the one one working & one w/ room to himself. Man, s*** I even got all my dr. S*** for them & all, if this is BS being I went to site today & it's just BLANK!!!  I had this conversation over a month ago, if I don't get a call back, I'm going to list all the numbers for you all on here & as well be calling the district attorney. The county I live in has a new Sherriff & has launched a huge SCAM task force w/ the FBI as well & I'll also contact them, so if any of you boys are reading this & I dont mean the good Ol boys that have hopes & dreams to get these jobs, than you should pack up & move the he'll outta Florida or the US as I'm not playing!! I got family & kids to feed & have put lots into the hope of going & taking this class. I'll update soon. God Bless to you all & America!!!

My daughter  is on her head to go to this class. I told her it wasn't a promise you would get a job but mere training. There is no way you can be trained in one day for all the things you will need to know. It sounds like a rip off and the state of Florida is letting them crooks get away with it. Someone please reply so I will not think  this sounds to good to be true.

IT'S NOT OSHA. IT PEC SAFEGULF AND SAFELAND AND SEMS. Get your facts straight before taking s***. The people that do it right, take care of business are out on the industry working and DON'T HAVE TIME to sit on the internet and blog. Do better research people.

Do Not Be Worried... Be motivated. No matter how you want to cut the cake. YOU WILL HAVE TO GET CERTAIN CERTIFICATIONS before your allowed to work offshore. Its the nature of the industry nowadays. EMI is a placement company, their sole purpose is to set people up with oil/gas companies for employment... It's actually a convenient for you that you can get CERTIFIED and begin JOB PLACEMENT ASSISTANCE the same day.

$285 is the amount you're paying for certifications. EMI DOES NOT make a dime off of the $285 that goes straight from your hand to the certification company. EMI makes commission and only commission and only when they send your a** to work.

I been dealing with  Todd.  He was great.  I started working like almost 4 days after I attended the  class.  It is true that they only make money if you get the job, but hell I been working ever since with and without there help.  I got another job just based on the fact that I got the first one, which I don't think I would have without Todd and MCR.

Been dealing  with "Todd, Rick & got an email from Capt. Darren", all working for EMI, @ 40 Beal pkwy. SW, Ft. Walton, FL.  Same address as MCR in 2010.  They want 20%, first 3 months.  Hit me with HUET and safe land, safe sea training @ $285.00.  Sooooo, they sell training?  Where do they make their money?? Contract says they get paid only if you get a job.  Comments?
