Fake debt collector.
At first sounded like a recording. Then the man made fake threats, saying sheriffs office was going to deliver a summons. First off the sheriff isn't a delivery service, and 2nd if it's a real debt they are trying to collect they must send you something in writing first. Just another phone "shake down" posing as a debt collector.

Called my phone 3 times today and several times in the past, trying to tell me they're with the sheriff's department wanting to deliver a debt notice. They've left several messages previously, but declined today. When I answered the phone to the second call in 15 minutes, "if I don't know you, stop calling my phone," the woman on the other end informed me that "that's not how you answer the phone, ma'am." I informed the snarky tart that I'll answer my phone any way I like and that she needs to stop calling me immediately.

Calls and leaves no message. I don't answer numbers I don't know. Sounds like another phone scam.

Called looking for my sister, said they wanted to know if she would be home for the Sheriff's office to deliver a collections letter. They gave me a case # that looked made up (couple of letters and then 1234). I asked what Sheriff and i was told the name of the City which is not the Sheriff's department in that community. My sister said that when she called they wanted her address and social security # because she owed money and that the Sheriff needed to come by to deliver the notice. But they would not tell her how much, they tried to guess at her address 3-4 different times and refused to give her any information about who she owed. They said they took my name off the list but called again the following day.

This is a BS collection call. Caller states they are from the sheriff's office & will someone be there to sign for a legal document. The dumb chick is in '850' area code and I'm in DFW area. Sheriff offices do not do debt collecting and they certainly do NOT call to verify you'll be home first!
The fact I have no debts, they called my cell (I have no idea how that number was acquired) and they are calling from '850' when I'm in the Dallas-Ft. Worth are all mean is a scam. I've read other posts that state when they call the number back they get some type of standard 'Magic Jack' recording...sheriff offices in Texas don't use a Magic Jack and they have real people answering the phones since it could be an important call. But hey, who knows how the rest of the states do things!
