I didn't answer and they didn't leave a message. Wireless carriers really need to improve the service so that we can block numbers.

This is the New York Times. I called their official customer service 1-800 number and asked for a call-back because there was a 4 minute wait, and this is the number they called back from.

It's the NY Times.  I called them, took the option to enter my phone number and have them call me back, and then accidentally hung up when they returned my call.  So I called them a second time, and during that conversation, this number popped up on my call waiting.

They are the New York Times.  When I called the NYT about my subscription, they were busy and I left my number.  This number called back and was able to help me.  I am guessing that those of you in New York getting calls from them are being asked to subscribe to the NYT.

I WOULD NOT TRUST ANYONE CALLING FROM THIS NUMBER!

I received a call on 1.13.04 at 6:10 p.m. PST from (850) 475-2049 while I was out. The message left on my answering machine stated the caller was "from the New York Times newspaper, calling on behalf of..." and that was when the recording stopped, time ran out.

Area code 850 is out of the Florida panhandle: Pensacola, Panama City, etc. However, the caller stated the call was being placed on behalf of the New York Times. Why would the New York Times use a call center from the Florida panhandle? They wouldn't.

At the time of this call, I had not subscribed to the newspaper, and I lived outside its subscription area (in another state).

Anyone associated with this number is highly suspect, in my opinion. They're probably "phishing" for information.

Have receved multiple calls from this number. I never answer and they never leave a message.

I received similiar calls (about 10 in 5 to 6 minutes)about three months ago and the next day had money withdrawn from my checking account. Watch your credit cards/checking accounts to make sure they don't use your telephone number to get indentify information.

I recieved several calls from publishers circle and never get a message from them. They always hang up after the third ring and they call all hours. So I figure that they are trying to scam or find out wheather they are calling a male or female. Well my answering machine is a automated recording, so they won't find out either way!

Calls almost daily during lunch hour at almost the exact same minute for about six mos to a yr now.  Doesn't leave a message.  Probably a ploy by the phone company to sell "*69" or "Caller ID" services.

This number has called about 6 times in less than a week. They never leave a message, but the number shows up on caller ID. When I called the number back to tell them to stop calling me, there was a message. It went something like this... (Female Cheery Voice) HI!! You have reached Gannett- there are no reps. to take your call so leave a message. SCAM's R US totally.

I have received about 10 calls from this number.  They never leave a message and it usually hangs up after three rings, before my answering machine will pick up for a message.

These people call constantly and never leave a message. They are most definitely a telemarketing or scamming company and they do not care nor adhere to the do not call list.
