How do you know it's a federal tracking call? What purpose does it serve?

Caller will just say, "Hello" with the noise of a call center in the background. It isn't a scam. It isn't a call center. In fact, it's a call tracker system we use for a few Federal Agencies. Answer it, but give them completely bogus information in a silly voice.

Caller started to leave message: 'hi this is...' and got cut off somehow.  Caller id only shows the number, no name.

Got several calls from this number and caller id said 'Unknown Name' but they never left a message. Don't usually answer these kind of calls, but I finally did. It was a man claiming to be from GE SECURITY wanting to confirm my name and address and offered to install a free security system in exchange for placing a sign in yard. I don't think this is a legitimate call after researching this number.

Received a call from this number this morning. "Unknown Name" on the  caller ID. A man stating he was from GE Security wanted to install a free security system in exchange for putting a sign in the front yard. This is really strange because I received several calls from a female yesterday from a different number with the same area code stating they were from ADT Security. I am also on the Do Not Call Registry.

On the calls where the guy wants to install a security system, it sounds like he's fishing to see if your house is 1) occupied, and 2) has a security system.  Given the calls about being high, he's probably looking for properities to rob.

OMW this person has been making these calls for nearly a year now to people, he needs to give it a break, When I get the calls no one will speak, mine also come out of Destin FL.

Received call from this number today.  Caller was a female, asked if this was  Mrs "my maiden" name. I said no, who's this?  She then hit a button to automatic response that said Goodbye.  I'm on the "Do Not Call" Registry as well.

Annie - I rec'd the exact same call...I am in south Georgia...I called the police department also.....

Called and said he couldn't hear me.  Sounded like he could, but OK, I'll play his silly little game.  I did a Google search on the number, and lo and behold.  So, when he called again I simply hung up on him.  Don't know what his game is, but you'd think at least one person of some authority could do something about these complaints.

Person at this number called my mother's home and said something about "it's about time you got your sh&* together over there" she hung up but the call worried her.

Well, I guess I'm part of a large club of people being called by this guy saying he's with GE Security System. I told him I don't need a security system and goodbye. But it sort of "creeped" me out so I called his number back and it was "not in service." I also am on the Do Not Call List. I'm going to report him to the links you listed. Thanks!

I just got the same call from GE Home Security to my home phone which is on the "No call" list. It listed on the caller ID as UNAVAILABLE but the phone number showed up and I have family in that area code... the number that called me was 850-654-8492. Like others have said, the caller didn't know I had picked up until I said hello 2 or 3 times. He said he was calling from GE Home Security with a once-a-year promotion. I told him I was on the do-not-call list. He said he would add me to the do-not-call list. I told him I was already on the national list and that they were violating the law by calling me.  He hung up.  I have a second phone line in the house, and I immediately got a call on that line from the same number.  I let my answering machine pick up but they did not leave a message.

850-654-8492 called, I pick up and he said something must have been wrong with his phone, he couldn`t hear me so he`ll call back. Second time he calls I hear nothing so I call him back and the number is not in service. Interesting....

This number  850-654-8492  is on  my phone messages, no message left, however gave found it originated in Destin Fl.  and I have made a report to the police dept.   as upon returning this call repeatedly there is nothing but a dial tone.............

Just got a call from this number. The guy identified himself from GE Security and said if we would let them put a GE sign in our yard they would install a security system free of charge. I told him no thank you, we already have a security system and he said "I don't know why you people do that" and then hung up on me. His tone if voice was so rude. I called the number right back and a recording said it had been disconnected. Very strange... Then I Googled the number and came to this page of posted comments on it.

This man called me and the conversation started this way, "Mrs. (my last name) how are you today.?  Thinking it was my yard man, I replied, "Fine".  Are you and Mr. _____ aware of the home invasions going on in Pensacola?  Do you and Mr. _________ have a security system?  I replied that we did and he hung up.  I was very spooked about this call and felt that he was after information and I immediately called our Law Enforcement.

No message -- called many times.  Who owns number?

just received a call from this number that came from destin florida. i left the machine pickup. they didn't leave a message. i called it back said it was out of service which is weird b/c they just called from that number. I hate numbers like this. had another call a while back and looked it up online and it said from that number they were trying to get all your info and come to find out it was a crook. how are they getting our numbers? the do not call list doesn't work apparently.

Received a call from them just a minute ago and like a previous poster said, it appeared they didnt realize they had completed the connection.  So I put my phone on mute and listened to them talk about schedules and putting up posters with their names on it, and eating...it was an entertaining 2 minutes.

I received the exact same call as JCB and MT.  I answered the second call but no one spoke after I answered.

Just got this exact call, but when I answered and told him I wasn't who he was asking for he hung up on me.

This guy called from this number (850-654-8492). He said he "couldn't hear us", but we could hear him fine. He then said he would call back. He did call back one minute later; we didn't answer and it only rang three times and he hung up. ???

Called/I was on phone.It beeped in and there was nobody on line.

DO NOT ANSWER AND DON'T CALL BACK!

Guy called claiming to be from General Electric wanting to install something that would help lower electric bill. My grandmother answered the phone and said he would have to talk to me about that and he started asking all kinds of creepy questions. Was I married, and was I happy in my marriage. Then asked if I was pretty and how old I was. Weird! Needless to say she hung up on him.

Just received a call from 850-654-8492 but no message was left and when I called the number back got a recording stating that the number was not in service. Also caller id showed the number as being out of area. I've received calls from this number in the past and dealt with the same BS with no message being left,etc. My question is how can someone make a call from a number that is not in service. Tired of these callers.

Got as call from this # asking for me by my name . When I asked to be removed from their call list they hung up on me. They said they were from GE Security but caller ID says unknown. When I googled GE SEC. I talked to a rep.  who said I was not on their call list, but whoever called  was not GE Sec.

Got a call from this number just a few ago. Knew our last name & asked to speak to Mr. or Mrs. I said this is Mrs. a couple of times and asked who I was speaking to. He didn't answer & only replied "Is Mr. there?"  Like he didn't believe me. I do sound young, but really?! Glad I didn't have to hear the sales pitch though! Should report it to the Do Not Call Registry as I'm on it!
