Two clues that it's a scam. They tell you that you have 24 to 48 hours to respond - followed by there is a restraining order against you. Well. . . um. . . If there's a restraining order against me, how do I contact you? Foreign 3rd world extortion criminals just LOVE to use quasi-legal phrases to scare their victims. Next: Prepaid Visa? Are lawyers taking that form of payment now? No, but criminals are.

Recieved VM on 4/1/14... just went through my vm today 4/29 b/c it was full.  Listened to vm said I had 24-48 hours to respond charges were being filed against me - show cause and restraining order.  Gave a claim # and said I needed to call them back.  So , I called and was then transferred to my "case worker"  who told me I owed $552.00 to Credit ONe Bank and the officers were going to come to my residence to serve me, I would have to get an attorney and the total cost for court would be $4,500.  Wanted me to pay over the phone today.  I said I couldn't didn't have the money.  She quickly said they would settle for $300 but I had to pay today before 5pm.  I told her I wasn't comfortable giving out my bank information so she encourgaed me to go get a prepaid visa but I had to do it before 5pm.  They are scammers!!! don't give them any onfo.

We received a call giving us a claim number to give to our attorney and said there was a restraining order against us and to call 855-213-2464.  This is the second time they have called our number.

Debt collector, I called turned out to be an old credit card balance from feb 2008. They wanted 200 dollars to settle

I got the same message. Also got one on my inlaws phone. same number. same message. Got to be some kind of old bill collector to find both numbers on public records. I checked the courthouse website and no one is sueing me. If they would answer the phone I would curse them out. I will try again in the morning.

i got a call from this number on my daughters phone. She ignored it and they left a voicemail.. Definetly a SCAM.

Got this call on my cell, showed as Restricted Number so let it go to voicemail. When I checked, a woman identified herself as being with Cook County Courts(Illinois). Message is same as all these posts are getting. Whether it's a scam or debt collector, it's misrepresentation and it's illegal. I just don't answer the phone. Few years ago this happened so after a few voicemails. I answered the phone. Told the caller I knew it was a scam and knew who they were. Said my lawyer was going to file criminal charges. Never heard from them again. Lol. That time they were middle eastern. This time it was American.

I like that one. They want you to call them, but they tell you that you have 'a restraining order' against you. Um? wait? Isn't that suppose to keep you away? Somehow when tv in Asia is showing old episodes of "Law & Order" in Punjabi they lose something in the translation.

If you are in California, check out the Attorney General's website concerning debt collection.  Hopefully this link works, if not, you could go to oag.ca.gov/consumers and proceed from there.  Sounds like this IS illegal and they should have a complaint filed against them.

Sounds more like extortion scammers to me. Scammers from foreign country's do not know how our laws work. They can not get a "restraining order" over owing a debt period. Nor can you be arrested for owing a debt, its a civil matter, not criminal. All the threats are direct violations of the FDCPA laws and illegal.

If you think a debt collector has violated a law, you can file a complaint with the California Attorney General's Office at 800.952.5225 and the FTC at 877.FTC.HELP or 877.382.4357. Collection laws give you the right to sue a collector in a State or Federal court within one year from the violation date.

Received this call for someone else (no idea who this person is), regarding a complaint and it also involved a "restraining order" and to contact your attorney.  After doing some further internet searching, it appears this may belong to Credit One Bank.  Sounds like intimidating and strong-arm tactics.  This may also be illegal.  I am in California, I don't know all the laws regarding creditors, but I believe it is certainly illegal to threaten, lie and misrepresent themselves in this state.

Got this call more than once stating my husband had a claim filed against him and there was a restraining order. The called my cell phone not his. Sounds like the other post I have read! I won't call back that's for sure. Scammers!!

I got the same call as mentioned. This is a work phone number. I thought I would call to tell them they had a wrong number. He started asking me questions about myself...which I would not answer. I told him I wanted to know who HE was and to stop asking questions about ME.  In his nasty voice said "don't tell me what to do" ...I immediately hung up. JERK

so they want you to pay but have a TRO against you.  makes a lot of sense eh?  we've seen this M.O. many times.  it's all bogus.

Received a voice mail message from this number saying they were a civil investigations unit and were calling about a complaint being filed against.  They stated that the order to show cause contained a restraining order and I had 24 to 48 hours to oppose this matter.  This is definitely a scam!  Restraining order for what?  Complaint for what?  Wouldn't I have been served with a complaint if one had really been filed against me???

Just rec'd a call giving me some claim # and told methat i had a restraining order against me, which I know isn't possible. I've received this call before.  This is sounds like a scam and someone trying to get my banking information.

A woman left a message saying I had 3 legal charges and a restraining order (which I really doubt). I was supposed to call this 855 # to verify  my address.  Sounds like a scam. Actual legal notices would be mailed, I suspect.

I got a call from this # 855-213-2464 on 03/28/2014 and the message side that i had charges  pending and to call.So i did an all i got was leave a message. This is not the first time fromthis number
it is about the 3rd callon my home.
