Hi,
I have my recipents and everything too.  The guy was rude and started yelling at me.  The calls stopped, but I recieved a call from them again yesterday.  I asked for thier address because I am going to the cops.  This man gets on the phone and tells me not to call again and hangs up.

This number called me again left me a voicemail.  Claiming i have a claim filed against me for writing a bad check with my social security number attached.  It's for a payday loan that I paid off 2 years ago.  So I called back asking for thier address because they keep calling me I said I was going to the cops.  They put me on hold some man gets on the phone claiming to be the owner says "hi mama please don't call our office again, have a great day and hung up.  Now I know they are scam artists..  I am going to the police station and blocking this number...

Also two woman calling using the same name. they call from a resticted number then want to me to call the 855 number. They called me a couple months ago. I ask for a copy of the debt and they became nasty. I know I have outstanding debt but usually these companies tell who they are and are polite.

Received A Message From 855-217-4635 Regarding Some Pending Legal Matter & Containing Various Threats. When I Called Back They Said I Was Under Investigation For Check Fraud & Legal Affidavits Were Pending Because I Owed Money For An Old PayDay Loan Through A Company Called Huskhawk Corp. I Told Them That I Actually Did Remember Having A Loan Through That Company About 2 Years Ago, But I Was Pretty Sure I Had Paid It Off. I Advised This Person That The Loan Was Paid In Full, But She Insisted That I Still Owed Money. I Asked For Some Type Of Letter Or Proof Of What I Owed, So They E-Mailed Me A Sketchy Looking Document From "Asset & Check Recovery Service LLC", Which I Attempted To Google But Could Find Nothing. Lots Of Similar Sounding Companies, But Not That Particular Name. So I Then Called The Original Lender (Huskhawk) & They Referred Me To National Credit Adjustors (800-286-5427) Who Then Referred Me To A Company Called ACS Who Last Had The Outstanding Debt (855-317-2094). They Advised Me That The Account Had Been Paid In Full Since 2013 & That This "Asset & Check Recovery Service LLC" Is Most Likely A Scam. I Have Had Several Payday Loans In The Past, So Unfortunately My Info Is Out There For These Scammers To Use, Hoping That I Won't Remember Old Debts. Fortunately, I Have A Great Memory & Know How To Use The Internet, 2 Things These Scammers Are Hoping Against.

Yes it is.  Almost certainly a scam operation located in India.   They are trying to extort money from people with phony threats.

The number 855-217-4635 appears on this site which looks like it originated in India.  Peculiar phrases and sentences all over the place.  It could be a spoofed number but I think this company is a cover for other scam operations.

Any debt collector who refuses to give you written validation is breaking the law. More over threatening to take legal action when they don't actually intend to is breaking the law. Report these guys to the FTC, and your state attorney general. Most likely the reason they wouldn't give you their address or info is because they are scam artists.

I just got a message from them similar to the one above from a blocked number. She miss pronounced my county and last name before I called Monday i thought id check them out and landed here. They sounded fishy in their message being they can't actually issue court summons' but I wanted to make sure before I run to my attorney and the FBI.

Got  a business name for them? A legal street address that is verifiable ala google street view (no a PO box is not going to do it)??  Have they sent you legal debt validation as required by FDCPA law via the US mail (hardcopy) so you can verify the debt? Do they want a green dot card for payment? Major red flag that.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you

.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.
