Debt Collector
I keep getting calls from this number. I think it is a scam because they are talking about having me arrested. There is not such thing as debtor's jail. If you were going to be served or arrested the authorities will show up at your home not call you. BEFORE YOU PAY THESE PPL ANY MONEY MAKE SURE YOU RESEARCH THEM

Debt Collector
Hey Sarah,That 855-219-4671 number's been calling my sister's house as well. They even went to the point of disclosing the reason for the call, and that if I personally didn't contact them back with in 24 hours, that I would have a warrant issued for my arrest as a failure to contact them. They gave some case # and everything, and then went on to threaten them with some failure to tell me bs. I'm personally trying to find out what agency this is, for my attorney is now wanting to know as well. Considering taking legal action now against them. The 855-219-4671# Said it was the office of "Goldberg And Freddie", but there's no official listing that we could find. Hope this helps Sarah. It's Definitely a huge red flag when they're going out of there way to harass you're friends and family. It's a scare tactic in a form of skip tracing. But under federal law, it is illegal to disclose personal information with a 3rd party without written concent. I hope this helped, and If I find out anything else, I will be sure to update here.

Wow I didn't expect any responses so quickly! Thank you for taking the time to reassure me and to provide so many links to this information! I truly appreciate it Elspeth and Gunnar. I will be following up on the links you provided and following through with what needs done. I find it sickening that there are people out there so viciously trying to scam people. I told my sister to let the calls go to voice mail so that we have a record of this callers activity. Thank you again for helping me. I really do feel better after reading your posts. I will be returning back to this page to report any progress or information I can get on these people!

Sarah, calm down, take a deep breath & relax. You're being "worked" by a fraud. Probably a foreign one. The tactic they're using is older than the scum-bag calling you. The object of the caller is to weaken you're defenses. They'll use embarrassment & intimidation in the hope that you'll fall for their ploy & fork over money for some invalid, or bogus, debt.
Be aware that the best method in dealing with this kind of parasite is to ignore them or block their calls. If you chose to take one of their calls, tell them that you're not a fool. Google the FDCPA & understand it. It's not hard, you can do it. Tell your caller that you've done so. Tell them that, under federal regulation, you are DEMANDING a notice of validation be mailed to you. NOT e-mail or fax! When the bluster, excuses & threats start...case closed! You're caller has just proven himself to be nothing more than a fraudulent and/or bogus debt collector attempting to collect on an invalid, time-barred or purely fictitious debt.
Be assured Sarah, your caller is far beneath you. You're already far more than they'll ever be. They know it, they feel that you have no right to be better than they are. Such is life Sarah. They're where they are because that's where they belong. As for you Sarah, you'll go on to....
Live Well.

Regardless of who's calling, what they're saying is illegal.  No one gets a heads up they'll be served - the process server just shows up unannounced (or in some cases, you'd receive a Certified or Registered letter - but no advance phone call).  Per the FDCPA, you should not pay any caller who refuses to MAIL - do not accept email or fax - proof that you owe a debt and proof that they can legally collect said debt.  Refusal to mail documentation about the alleged debt is a violation of federal law.  Scammers call people about a bogus debt, debt that's already been paid, or debt that is owed - but to another company.    More info here:

Follow the steps in what you need to know. A legitimate debt collector agency should not have a problem with giving you a real business name and address you can google and verify via google street view, BBB etc.
For extortion Scam Operations, file reports with the FBI, your state attorney general and Department Of Justice,FTC & FCC..

I forgot to add that I have been receiving the calls meant for my friend for at least a month, almost daily with voicemails at least 2 or 3 times a week. My sister received the first call regarding me, two days ago. I have been doing research and I'm trying to figure out who these people are that are calling. I don't want to call them! I suppose I should contact a lawyer with my questions. Does anyone have any recommendations or advice? Or has anyone experienced these same calls?  5/1/2014

My sister received a call from 855-219-4671 ext. 473.  They would not state the name of their company. My sisters number is unlisted, so I don't understand how they got it. I have never put her down as a contact person for anything. They told her they were trying to serve me papers or a summons or something. They told her they could not find or contact me... I have been getting these same calls on my cell phone for a girl I was best friends with back in 2003. They say the same thing and say she will be judged and have a harassing tone and they say "good luck"  at the end of the message. I notified my friend of this and she said she has no clue what it is about. At this point I feel very uneasy and I have a feeling something fishy is going on.
