Leila Artiste called for an old employee claiming to have some good news and options for a tax lien. They are relentless and kept calling despite us telling them to not call our business again. They claim the need to help her and need to contact her. If they need to do so and know all about this, why don't they have her info? Very annoying during tax season to have someone continue to call.

Yeah... got a call this morning for the business owner about a tax matter. Said he was from 20/20. Obvious scammer. I just want to find the one poor miserable slob who actually takes these phone calls and falls for them, and beat the crap out of him (or her). If these scammers never sold anything doing this, they wouldn't bother. Please educate your staff and family not to fall for them.

Let me first tell you that these people are NOT LEGIT. They are scammers!
As a former state and federal tax auditor, I can assure you...The State and the IRS do not forward your information to outside lawyers or any other agency to attempt or try to collect on a tax lien. They would contact you directly and numerous times, before they would contact you via phone. And then and only then, after a very long time, would a local representative contact you (usually for wage and hours discrepancies). They are always. always, always, professional, and will have all information to provide to you.
Based on my conversation with these people, they obtain your information through ANY filing with the court systems regarding liens, and have no clue what it is about.

Received similar message from "Rick" at 20/20 Financial asking for my adult daughter who doesn't live with me by her first name. Said he "had good news regarding her tax matter with the state of virginia." Why can't the useless FTC do something about these scam calls. I'm on the Do Not Call List and get 4-6 calls a day. I don't answer my phone if I don't recognize the number and 50% don't leave a message but keep trying. It's an intrusion in my home. Canada has successfully dealt with this problem and actively prosecutes offenders. I have sent complaints to the FTC and receive a form letter after a month or so saying there's not really anything they can do.

Couple of voicemails stating need to discuss a state tax liability file or state tax matter. Sounds like a scam.
