I got the same calls from these same numbers, 888 853 9272, 770 450-6820, stating they were chief investigator. They would not tell me who I owed and would not send me anything proving that I owed this debt.  I never got a payday loan.  The threat to have me arrested also.

Elspeth is 110% correct!  Don't let them pull that "we are not a collector" hogwash.  They can call themselves whatever they want, if they are attempting to collect a debt they are governed by the FDCPA

Based on the number in your OP, they are also discussed in the thread below.  With an idiot employee posting false information as well

Sounds like that operation is using the typically bottom feeder name game --- trying to mislead consumers incorrectly claiming they are not subject to the FDCPA because they are "process servers", "fraud investigators", a "law firm", or "mediation company".

By law, Attorney's also have to be licensed for debt collections if they are acting or doing debt collection.

Per the FDCPA, you should NOT pay any caller who refuses to MAIL a debt validation letter - in fact, it is a violation of the FDCPA to refuse to mail this documentation to you.  Please do report your caller to the FTC, FBI and your state's Attorney General.  Also, the refusal to give company name and physical and mailing address is another violation of the FDCPA and another red flag.  Remember - no proof of debt mailed = do not pay!

Debt Collector
They just called me and left a message saying to contact Mrs.simms immediately before charges are filed against me. They are using two different number's at the moment one is 1-888-853-9272 and 1-770-450-6820. They are saying they are Levi and markowitz. They are trying to say that a internet payday loan is owed for $5,000 dollars. Couldn't even give me the name of the company this loan was through. They had my social number and birth date and old bank account information and my work information. Wanted me to verify my birth date and last 4 of social number. She said I had charges pending against me for check fraud and the county I live in would be picking me up on a warrant. They would be mail me a certified letter in the mail also. They got mad when I starting calling them out saying they was trying to scam people and I laid them out and told her not to call my phone ever again. Not two minutes later they called back this time a Mrs.Crawford telling me wasn't in my best interest to lay them out and not talk to them. I laid her out and hung up. Then they started to call my bf cell phone 10 times in a row. Don't know how they got his cell number are any of my other family number neither. He said what is this about she said I can't tell you but you need to make sure she calls us back immediately before a warrant is issued tonight for her arrest. They will also call your job telling them you have fraud charges and a warrant is being issued for your arrest at your job. This is a scam and every few months a different number will call changing there companies name and number.  I will be contacting the federal trade commission once again tomorrow to report them!

They just called me several times and my other cell phones that are not mine. They are saying they are Levi and markowitz now. Calling from 1-888-853-9272 and 1-770-450-6820 shows up with no name and from Georgia. Said ask for Mrs.simmer couldn't even tell me the name of the debt saying I owe $5,000 to them. And I was having charges against me for check fraud. I cussed her out and hung up. Two minutes later a Mrs.Crawford called and laid her out. Then they call the other cell phones and threatening them. I would like any information you have on them. Calling the federal trade commission tomorrow to report them. In the last few months it has been a bunch of theses fake companies calling all day long. I'm sick and tired of them. They told my bf wasn't a good idea for me to lay them out and hang up on them. They was just trying to help me. They got mad because I called them out on trying to scam people and threatening people!

Consumers across the country report that they're getting telephone calls from people trying to collect on loans the consumers never received or on loans they did receive but for amounts they do not owe. Others are receiving calls from people seeking to recover on loans consumers received but where the creditors never authorized the callers to collect for them. So what's the story?

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

Same here. Levi stein and markowicz. I had an old payday loan. Ended up being called by another company last year about it and paid them. Now this company calling saying the sane thing. Legal action, docket numbers, penal codes. Mr jones, mr this mrs that. They claim I was scammed last time I paid this. Asked for them to bill me for proof and said it would take 7 days and "they" can't wait that long. Knew my address and car I drive and said they would seize my car and didn't need a court order to do it.
