This was a call from Anthem, reminding me to get regular health screenings. I don't believe it was a scam. Annoying, yes. Scam, no.

I got the same call today, July 16, 2012, with the same message directing me to call 855-222-8921.  I deleted it from my messages.

Thanks for posting this Kenny. I wasn't so sure this was a scam because I have an unpublished phone number and the automated message referenced my name.  I thought someone might have hacked into the Anthem server but your explanation makes sense.

I just got the exact same call with the exact same message, the number came up on the caller ID as a 412 number and they left the exact same message they left you with the same number to call back, 1-855-222-8921. Guessing a scam!!!!

If you receive a call from this number 412-773-8572  you must be an Anthem member.  It is a reminder call typically about mammograms or other health screenings covered by your health plan and is part of your benefits package called "360 Health".  It is a legitimate call and it is OK to return the call.  It is not a scam, just a part of the increasing mandates placed on the insurance companies by the ACA - Affordable Care Act or Obamacare (which is a scam).

I received the same call voice message today- 7/2/2012. Caller ID notes the call was from Albuqurque, NM 505-345-8080. I called the number and got an animated message wanting my date of birth. When I didn't enter the information the call ended.

Received a recorded message from blue cross/blue shield stating that they've been trying to contact me and want to encourage me to get my preventative screenings.  Bc/bs is my present carrier...they should know that I have already done the screenings. Duh!

Same as above.  The actual call came from 412-773-8572 and Caller ID says "Anthem BCBS".  The recorded message said they were calling for Barbara XXXX (they had my name) with important information regarding insurance services, and to call back at 855-222-8921.  I decided to try it.  The first automated question was, "are you Barbara XXXX?" and I said yes.  Second question was to verify my date of birth.  I hung up.  They are getting pretty sneaky out there.

I received this message yesterday and it went to voice mail, so I didn't hear the entire message. I just heard the automated person repeated the phone number to call back. I did not call back. It seems like yet another scam...

I got the exact same message. The message was automated but they had the right name. Good that I searched online and found this.

I received a voicemail yesterday with the exact same message. My guess is that someone's computers got hacked into.

Just got a call which left an automated message on my voicemail saying it was "Anthem BCBS, calling with some important information and to help make sure you're completely up to date with your care. Please call us back toll free at 855-222-8921."

These days I get SO many calls from SO many different bogus callers, and I mean several EVERY day, that I no longer answer the phone if I don't know for sure who it is, and now I ALWAYS Google the numbers. I'd say about 99% of them turn out to be scammers. Getting this kind of call on both home and cell now, too. Seems like just this past year there's been an epidemic EXPLOSION of calling. It's Really MADDENING!!!!!

I tried to verify with anthem whether or not it was a valid number and they can't verify it.  The representative at a known Anthem phone number agreed that it was probably a scam number.  Why he couldnt say it wasn't them for sure I don't understand though.
