These guys are tools.they are calling me and saying they are coming to serve me papers at my home or plays of employment. They say they have my social security number. The gentleman had an urban hip hop accent. Next, I had a call and only heard a woman speaking in a foreign language on other calls with the sounds of A call center going on in the background. the gentleman threatened me and called me numerous times. I have about 20 missed calls from this number in the past week I will not call them back. I would like my name off of their call list. They are called credit protection Depot. They suck.

They do own the debt. They buy it for pennies on the dollar. The reason they dont give out their address is cause their practice and the way they conduct business is against the law. They do this to avoid being sued or singled out. Reason i know this is cause i use to work for them and quit when i saw how evil they were.

Credit Protection Depot. Don't listen to their threats, and they will threaten. I even had one lady tell me that I would go to jail. I informed her that there are no debt prisons in America... lol

I just got a phone call from 1-855-227-2728.  The only reason I answered it was it is my work number and I have to answer it.  He told me I owed $617.00 to Payday Max from an alleged loan that I took and demanded to settle this over the phone by giving him my personal information.  I told you were calling my work number and I am telling you again that he cannot call me at work for an alleged debt.  He just told me he would keep calling my home phone number until he gets what he wants.  He has a problem with that as I changed my phone number.  As far as I know, I don't owe these people money and told him to prove it in writing which he refuses.  This is not the first time this company has called me at work.  They call and say no one is available to take the call and do not tell who they are calling for.  The people at work now know about these scammers and if they answer the phone for me, the message is passed on but nothing personal is given out as we are not allowed to give our co-workers their personal information without the permission

Got a call from 855-227-2728 I never answered as I have a rule to not answer calls I do not know. I will go to this site and type in number to see if others have had complaints. The only payday loan I defaulted on was My Cash Now and the reason I did so was under advise by legal counsel. I was trying to get a home modification loan and they were looking at my bills. When they saw the payday loan they said do not pay this as North Carolina has a no pay day loans bill that was passed to stop the lenders from being able to do business in NC. I guess these folks have gotten this loan and that was over two years ago and now are trying to collect. Going to change phones and number.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

My wife had her identity hacked from a college computer. an internet company Paydaymax Ltd processed a loan using the stolen information after a fraud alert had been placed on that specific account 72 hours before the loan was approved. Now the affiliate company Credit Protection Depot is attempting to collect on fraudulent loan for Paydaymax Ltd.  Incidentally both of these companies along with several more affiliate companies  are owed by the same man who has been investigated by the Federal Trade Commission. If you ever had an internet payday loan CPD (credit protection depot) is the company that handles the account if you default.  They are not licensed in any state in the USA and the do not abide by fair credit protection act. They will never give you info unless you give your name, date of birth, ss# and address.  NEVER GIVE THIS INFO.  They also will never give you any proof you owe a debt via us mail or will they give you their address.  They also will grossly inflat the amount you owe.  How do I know you ask?  Because they done it to me. I borrowed 600 dollars from an interned payday loan company but had to  default.  I made arrangement with cpd to repay the amount I borrowed and I paid the 600 dollars I borrowed now cpd wants me to pay them 1440.00.  I will never pay the 1440.00 since I have repaid the 600.00 I orginally borrowed.
