I have doubts whether this number is really used by Microsoft or a sister company called Windows PC Secure.
They scan computers and ask 300 USD or more to activate a program to scan the computer for defects.
Important; both people talk in a kind of indian english.

Folks called my house to say they were calling from a locating service. Didn't say who they are and they are threatening to show up at our house and place of employment for two outstanding payments. If its so important how come they haven't mailed me these bills. At the end of the message they say I look forward to speaking with you. Well I look forward to kicking your a**. I despise scammers and find them to be the scum of the earth. They are a step below collections agencies who clearly do not do any research on who they are looking for just call anyone that has matching initials.

Consumers across the country report that they're getting telephone calls from people trying to collect on loans the consumers never received or on loans they did receive but for amounts they do not owe. Others are receiving calls from people seeking to recover on loans consumers received but where the creditors never authorized the callers to collect for them. So what's the story?

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

Received NUMEROUS calls from these people to call back SEVERAL different numbers. (855-230-2493, 877-373-0474, 210-338-8172).  It's awful.

They called once again today saying: "My name is Anthony Romano with National Restitution Services and you MUST return this phone call to 855-230-2493 at once.  You will be charged an extra $400.00 to your account as we are not able to locate you."

Ugh, such craziness if you ask me.  They are scamming people right and left.  Make sure you read the FTC Consumers Info and school these suckers before you become sucked in with their lies.

They go by Legal Services and National Restitution Services.

Only  federal and state governments can take tax returns, debt collectors have no rights to do so.

Keep calling, and calling leaving automated messages.  Now they claim to be "AVR Firm" and that there will be an invoice attached to the summons I will be served where they are charging me a $200 processor fee per address served!    They state that they will serve both home and work.  Another recording on Monday was a live person who said they had attempted to serve me at home (unsuccessfully).  That is a lie as someone is ALWAYS home.   They use local numbers when calling to get you to answer and always leave the 855 call back numbers.  2 different ones used so far.   If I ever get served I will repost so you'll know if they are just barking or have any bite!!

If you ever speak to them they will tell you your file came across their desk and want to settle the matter before you go to court..blah blah blah...they wont take you to court I asked them who was taking me to court and they said the place i said nope they are not associated with the debt any more you bought it so then they said the first place that bought it then the next and then he was in a corner and couldnt answer my questions therefore he is a LIAR, and yes the first call they use an area code in your area to get you to answer then they leave a 855 number to call back and it goes to them, typical scam they are illegally trying to obtain a debt and that is all....

This number started calling me a couple of days ago.  Originally they stated I needed to contact in regards to a legal matter and any info collected will be used to collect on a debt.  Since then I have had a different # call with a local area code.  The number was listed twice on caller ID....searched that and was a cell phone # that was listed in blocks (group of numbers combined together. )  Local area code is now coming up Global Communications.  The 855 area code is now coming up as Legal Services.  They hung up when answer machine came on.  I think all of these are connected because at least one recording has been left with each incoming phone #.  All have been the same or real close as far as messages go.   I have not been threatened with court or jail yet.

Anyone that calls and states you have to call them back to be served is a scam they are trying to use scare tactics to get you to call them back. Do not give them any information over the phone. Lots of red flags here, recording does not state who they are, they are leaving messages about being summons, they leave this message on other peoples machines. All of this is illegal when it comes to debt collecting, i wouldnt give them the time of day.

I have been getting calls from them also.  They do not leave info on who they are or who they are leaving the message for. They want to schedule the immediate service of a summons and will excercise [their] legal right under [our] contract and under the laws of this state. They want us to obtain more information on how to handle this case by contacting 855-230-2493.  It sounds fishy to me!

These people keep calling my cell phone telling me they "demand" I call them to arrange a summons.  This is total BS.  My record is squeaky clean, my bank accounts are fine and I have no unpaid bills.  They leave no other information other than that I call them.  This has been going on for days.  The first time I got the call, I did call them - but on a different phone than my cell phone.  You could hear the call center in the back.  They didn't know who I was and I certainly did not give them my name.  No telling what these people are up to.
