Agreed.  There are many scams.  I made the mistake of calling a company to say that the person they asked for didn't live here, they proceded to tell me that I owed them money.  A computer is random dialing and if you pick up or call back, they'll most likely continue.

Many times these calls are not even associated with these charities, but a scam, making a good charity look bad.  Instead, go directly to the charity to make a donation.  Chances are that any money donated from a phone call, will never make it to the charity they say they're working for.

No, that's just a further scam to see if there is someone at that number.  Your number has now been sold or forwarded to other scumbags like this one, possbly.  I'm not sure this is the case, but I could see that being an underhanded way to get your number on a future calling list.

If they are making illegal calls to begin with, then pressing "1" to be removed is surely a way to promise even more calls in the future!

This was the 3rd call from this number and it came at 8:30 in the morning. I have registered for the Do Not Call List and I still get 3-5 calls per day.I have tried to find out any information about that number but I cannot and I am frustrated with all the  calls and scammers out there.

Called the# and left mine on do not call list  said it was Amer. Diabetes Assoc. Who know.

Also look out for 855-244-7257, 855-246-5095, 855-244-5107 - they are all from the same person (or company).  Don't say anything - just hang up - telephone company may be able to block some calls but I don't thnk they can block these.

CID "Toll Free Number"   That's the third telemarketing call in the past half hour, all from different numbers.  That's why I have to let an answering machine screen all calls.

This number was on my caller ID, with the name TOLL FREE CALL.  I didn't answer.  They didn't leave a message.

Caller ID says UNAVAILABLE. No voicemail left. Verizon says it can't block 855 numbers. Time to shift to cell-only.

American Diabetes Association.  Call the number, press 1 to be removed from their list.  It's that simple.  Don't get mad, get off their list!

How do you know they don't just CHANGE their number and call you even MORE, now that you've CONFIRMED for them that yours is a real, working number?

I would NEVER call these numbers back, because you don't even KNOW WHOM you are calling.

BOTTOM LINE: AT BEST, these are TELEMARKETERS **HIRED** by the organization they claim they are calling for.  It is NOT ACTUAL EMPLOYEES of these 'charities.'  And THAT's IF the whole thing isn't a SCAM claiming to be people they are not and taking your hard earned money for their own pockets!

You may get a ton more of these calls; they'll just be different numbers to 'fool' you.  I've been 'telling' these bozos "not to call" for more then TWENTY YEARS, and not only hasn't it stopped, its gotten WORSE.  NOW who 'doesn't know what they are talking about'?

This NEVER stops; we get one to SIX of these calls DAILY, including Saturdays and SUNdays.  NEVER a day of peace.  NONE of these are VALID (no we do not owe overdue bills) nor LEGITIMATE.  ALL SPAM, ALL the time.

Called Again today; Second from this number.  Same MO: "Unavailable" on caller id.  No one there; no message.

These people continue to call day after day, never leave a message and don't answer when I pick it up.  Our number is listed as a do not call, something needs to be done about this stuff.

This number calls my home before 9am and after 9pm, and throughout the day. No one ever says anything when I answer. If my machine picks up, they disconnect.

Called at 8:19AM, making me think there had been a death in the family. No voicemail left, of course. Time to get rid of the landline, I guess.

FYI: This diabetes association and it's useless, loser telemarketers are NOT using VoIP.
They only have around 10 numbers. These numbers are NOT spoofed, and are easily blocked by most phone companies. I blocked these numbers last month and I never hear a ring. I know they try almost every day because I can check my phone records and their calls are all marked "refused".
My advice: block as many of these as you can and enjoy the peace and quiet!!
You can also block the entire toll free 855 and 877 numbers!

They call and as soon as the call goes to voice mail, they hang up.  The caller ID on one of my phones gives me the ability to change the name attached to any incoming number, so I change this and others like it to "spam" .  That way if they call twice, a glance at the caller ID lets me know to ignore the call.  I wish more phones had that feature!
Someone mentioned that 855 is not a US area code.  In a sense that is correct, but not totally.   What it is, is a toll free number much like an 800 number which is not really an area code, just a toll free number.  .  Legitimate calls can come from 855 numbers.

Get calls from this number a lot.  No message is ever left. I don't answer calls from numbers I don't recognize nor call them back.

you don't know what you are talking about. All you have to do to make this number stop calling you. Is just call the number back late at night. call 1 then the number. Then lesson to the recording and get your number removed. That all you have to do. I was never called back after 2 days.

This past weekend I was getting calls from the March of Dimes and asked to be removed from their list. Today I get a call from ADA. I asked the rep to be removed immediately from this list as well. I wonder which organization will irritate me tomorrow?

Any organization that calls me in this manner automatically goes on my 'Do Not Donate' list.

Went to voice mail, they hung up - no message. Not for the first time this month.  It this is really the American Diabetes Association, they should 1. leave a message and 2. have ADA show up as the caller id - what displays on my phone is "TOLL FREE CALL".
