It isn't a problem... It is simply the Affordable Care Act navigators cross checking with the NSA to make sure they have all of your contact information. After Jan 1, if you haven't signed up for Obamacare they will be deducting the funds from your bank accounts and assign you to a silver plan, if you have enough in the bank. Otherwise you go on the Bronze plan. It's just an easy way to help you follow the law and they know you will like it. Please remember that you will have a $12K deductible on either plan. Resistance is futile. Happy Kwanza!!

Several calls from this number but I never answer because it is (to me) an unrecognized number so I draw the conclusion that it is a telemarketer of some sort of ilk.

Got a call SUNDAY morning looking for donations for American Diabetes Association.

Asked for me by name, but would leave no message.

Put the no. in your phone's "block" list.
Theresa 2013-04-09 15:39:36 Unknown
You can pay Verizon an extra $5 per month and 99% of these call will never reach your phone. I used to have Verizon and paid the extra money. It was well worth it. The only 800 numbers that ever got through were legit calls and usually related to something else I was involved in.

AskADA@diabetes.org I have gotten two abandoned phone calls so far. Use the email address to send complaints directly to the "charity". I NEVER EVER GIVE TO ANY CHARITY THAT HIRES A THIRD PARTY. That tells me they have too much $$ to begin with.

FYI: This diabetes association and it's useless, loser telemarketers are NOT using VoIP.
They only have around 10 numbers. These numbers are NOT spoofed, and are easily blocked by most phone companies. I blocked these numbers last month and I never hear a ring. I know they try almost every day because I can check my phone records and their calls are all marked "refused".
My advice: block as many of these as you can and enjoy the peace and quiet!!
You can also block the entire toll free 855 and 877 numbers!

Keep getting these calls daily sometimes more than once
Paul 2013-03-27 17:03:00 Unknown
Received a call from 855-244-7257 today. I usually don't answer Toll Free callers, but today I did. The woman said that she was "calling on behalf of HABITAT FOR HUMANITY" and hung up. Later I called the number back and received a recorded message from the "American Diabetes Association."
The difference between these two identifiers may tell everything about this number and the people behind it. The quick hang-up routine, which echoes earlier comments, provides additional reasons for caution.
I have also received calls from:
855-244-5107 "American Diabetes Association"
855-246-5095 "American Diabetes Association"
855-243-9125 "Not in Service"
.
Jhurwitz 2013-03-27 15:47:18 Unknown
We also have received calls from this number series. Since we have caller id, we do not answer, and they never leave a message. But the numbers rotate their calls, and are the same numbers you mentioned.
Chris 2013-03-23 14:43:26 Unknown
Have gotten calls over the past week from the following numbers:
All begin with 855 area code:
244-7257
245-5095
638-7579
244-5107
856-4583
No one is on the line when I pick up......next time, it'll be a whistle into the phone.......
Mae 2013-03-20 16:59:16 Unknown
I get calls from this number weekly. No message is left and it comes up as toll free. I don't answer calls from numbers I don't recognize nor call them back.
Jenison123 2013-03-19 20:43:24 Non-profit Organization
Same thing. This number calls daily and there's no one on the line. I called them back and the answer machine says it's the AMERICAN DIABETES ASSOCIATION. I have reported them to the DO NOT CALL REGISTRY.
Irritated 2013-03-19 20:31:56 Unknown
Lately all 3 calls from the American Diabetes Association have been from area code 855. Charity Navigator gives this group its lowest, 1-star rating because of high costs in administration, overhead, and promotional expenses. The ADA's telemarketers should find other jobs.
anon 2013-03-19 17:54:19 Unknown
No, I did not get it backwards. Go to the FTC and read.
Q: Just when can telemarketers call?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
?A: The FTC's Telemarketing Sales Rule allows telemarketers to call between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m.
jag 2013-03-19 17:09:26 Unknown
Non-profits/charities do not have to abide by the Do Not Call list.
Will All Telemarketing Calls Stop If I Register?
If I register my number on the National Do Not Call Registry, will it stop all telemarketing calls?
No. Placing your number on the National Do Not Call Registry will stop most telemarketing calls, but not all. Because of limitations in the jurisdiction of the FTC and FCC, calls from or on behalf of political organizations, charities, and telephone surveyors would still be permitted, as would calls from companies with which you have an existing business relationship, or those to whom you?ve provided express agreement in writing to receive their calls. However, if you ask a company with which you have an existing business relationship to place your number on its own do-not-call list, it must honor your request. You should keep a record of the date you make the request.

They've been calling me several times for over a week. I finally took the call when they called at 8:53 this morning and woke me up. It was one of those ridiculous "we're not asking for a contribution, but we want you to mail your neighbors" calls. I HATE THOSE. I hung up.
Roy Batty 2013-03-15 22:55:38 Telemarketer
Hey!------ Here! Go pound a 25lb sack of sugar up your fat diabetic a***s. UR worthless POS who invade our homes and privacy. NEVER pick up and answer these scum!
Savvy 2013-03-15 15:42:50 Unknown
I think you got it backwards: It's *9* AM to *8* PM.
Calls between 8PM and 9AM (i.e. 'the night') are ILLEGAL and should DEFINITELY be pursued through the FCC and FTC complaint forms, as well, as, possibly, your local law enforcement, as that can be construed as 'harassement' which is a FELONY when a phone is used.

Called AGAIN today. I was in a room with no phone (you can guess!) and didn't get there on time. Ans. machine picked up but of course no message. AT LEAST the EIGHTH call from these SCUMBAGS.
BTW, I called the "American Diabetes Association" and reamed them out yesterday. They ADMITTED THEY USE TELEMARKETERS but claimed they 'only' use those number that start with "877" area code.
THEN they gave me an 800 government number to "Report FRAUD" ***BUT*** it is ONLY relevant to Government Program Fraud such as Food Stamps, Medicare, Medicaid, etc. SO...What THIS tells me is that the ADA *IS* IN of this SCAM, despite their denials.
I *have* donated to the AMERICAN DIABETES ASSOCIATION in the past BUT I WILL NEVER DO SO AGAIN. Not only do they have ONE OF THE LOWEST RATINGS POSSIBLE on Charity Navigator (a 1 out of 4 with 4 being best) but they are LIARS and THIEVES as demonstrated by attempt to get me to just 'go away' by giving me another wild goose chase to pursue.
AMERICAN DIABETES ASSOCIATION is a SCAM, itself.
LuLu 2013-03-14 11:19:41 Unknown
What kind of game are these people playing. I answer and get a hang up.
Don't answer and machine picks up nothing. 9-12 calls a day. starting before 8.00 a.m.
until 2 minutes to 9 in the evening.
It's about time the telephone carriers did something about it. CenturyLink cannot offer anything
other than *77 in this area. Does'nt work as they show number but no name.
Really fed up with these morons.
