He wanted my name but I would not give him that because it did not match the person he was calling for... So he said he was done with the games and wasting time and hung up... lol it is just a scam trying to get your private info..

Every 4-5 months I get a string of calls from 855 269-9628.  The call is very vague, at least the message they leave on my voice mail.  They are calling in reference to a Kevin Stephens and I dont even know a Kevin Stephens.  I have called back numerous times and normally get a very rude MR Banks who has used foul languange with me a few times now.  I did speak with a lady late in 2013 who was very nice, and promised me that she would do something to get my name removed from the records, obviously that didnt work. I got a call again today, and called them back, to get Mr Banks.  He always acts as if I am lying when I say I dont know a Kevin Stephens.  He makes me want to change my phone number he is so beligerent.  I wish these calls could stop.

Prank Call
Wow, Mr. " Villan" ova is a busy guy. I wonder why his entire case load is dumped under the same case , 155-168LT? How does he tell us all apart?

I only received the one phone call from this moron a week or so ago at the 866 # & finally got around to checking it out today. I figured it had to be bogus.  I just finished cleaning up all my old debts.

Thanks for the info on where to report this.

This is the message I receive at my Mothers house
"Jan 30, 2014 10:00
Hello this is Ray (Dolenola)
My office has spent enough time and resources trying to reach you already. It's definitely in your best interest to return this call immediately to resolve your matter voluntarily. Please refer to case 155-168 LT. Our number is 855-269-9628. Again this is my final attempt to try to help you resolve your matter voluntarily. Good luck to you."
The emotional feeling I had was FRIEGHT , felt bullied. Ray did not say who he was attempting to locate. NEVER received a prior VM, appropriate letter, email, etc. VERY unprofessional. When I called the number this was the message- "Hello, you've reached the offices of DRS outside of normal business hours. Please leave a message and your case number and we'll contact you back as soon as we are able to, thank you"
Interestingly enough when you let the VM end and stay on the line it just rings and rings. No way to leave a message. This does not sound like a legitimate company. My hypothesis is this is an attempt to get credit cars info from you "voluntarily" through fear and intimidation. Businesses do NOT leave messages in this manner. I will be forwarding this to my Attorney.

You are more than welcome!  Oooooh, people like this make me furious!  I hope you will file a complaint like I did.  The more the better.  Also, if this really was a legitimate collection agency, you would have received two letters already....One from the company you owe money to, saying that they have turned you over for collections, and one from the collection agency itself.  It is the law that they send you notice in writing first before ever making a phone call.  I just hope these jerks get caught and sent to jail where they belong!

If you never received a letter in the mail telling you that you have been turned over to collections, then do not respond to this number!  These people are scammers!  It is the law, that if you have genuinely been turned over to collections, you would have received a letter not only from the company you owe money to, telling you that you have been turned over to a collection agency, but you would also have received a letter from the collection agency, telling you they are trying to collect X amount of money from you for X company, and for whatever service this company provided you.  If you didn't get a letter, then ignore these jerks!!

The fake debt companies, pre litigation companies, payday loan thieves, lead generators make up a 32 billion a year crime.  Do not pay them any money whatsoever.

If it were a legitimate business they'd abide by the FTC laws and not risk the legitimacy of their business by illegal practices of harassment and or intimidation of a consumer.

Report them and when you do let this community and others know  about it.

These types of fake companies and theft thrive in the dark. They literally bank on your not knowing what's up. They hope you do not know your rights. If they purchased bad debt they did so at their own peril.

Know this - You will not be arrested consumer!  You will not go to jail. Your consumer protection bureau will tell you that. Even if you had several loans or incurred real debt, you don't owe a fake pre litigation or collection company.  It's those companies not you that committed fraud.

Of course if you have real debt you would want to pay  that debt to the original lender where possible. And you should talk to the original lender directly to come to an agreeable solution before a loan or debt defaults.

However that said,  caution is needed here because you should  Never negotiate with a fake or illegal entity. Those companies are ruining the lives and livelihood of countless consumers unawares.

Thankfully the "Apollo Nida" Federal investigation is throwing light on the types of illegitimate companies and schemes that are setting up internet store fronts and shops to obtain customer identities and propagate massive fraud. Because of his role on Real Housewives of Atlanta the case is getting nationalized.  It is just the tip of the iceberg.

The Feds and various agencies are freezing assets and collection efforts across the country.  Google it and look at the state of NY as an example.

Help is on the way for consumers who are already struggling in this tough economy.

It's your duty as a consumer to report early and often. God Bless!

I just got a call from some A-hole named Ray at 855-269-9628.  I didn't answer the call so he left a message, saying that He is tired of wasting his time and resources on me, and that it was in my "best interests" to call him NOW!"   We don't owe anyone a single penny, and are not behind on any debt, so after a few minutes of getting really angry about this, I called the number back.  Of course, nobody answers (proof of a scam), but I ripped "Ray" a new one.  Then I proceeded to report this to consumerfinance.gov   This is the place you need to go in order to file a complaint about this number.  The government will contact these a**wipes and tell them to back off or face charges.  I learned as well that for it to be a genuine debt collection call, you would have had to receive a letter from the agency, listing the amount of debt you owe, what the debt is for and who you owe it to.  Without that letter, they are breaking the law in contacting you!!  Make sure you go to consumerfinance.gov and file a complaint!  I'm also going to try and file a complaint at the BBB.  I'm sick of this crap!

I just got the same exact call from 555-269-9628!  They said that they were "tired of wasting their resources on me" and that "it is in YOUR best interests to call me back right away!"  We don't owe anyone a single penny!  Besides, if it was a legitimate debt collection agency, they would have had to send me a letter in the mail, notifying me of exactly what debt I owe, why I owe it, and who I owe it to.  They never did that.  These people are a scam!  I reported them to consumerfinance.gov  Now they're going to have to put up or shut up, and if they don't, I can sue them!!  Make sure you report these a**holes!  GRRRRRRRR!!!

Very frighten and offensive, said I needed to call them and when I did the call went to voice mail.
For someone who wanted so bad to speak with me I thought this was odd, them not taking my return call.
Who are these people and what do they want.  The voice on the caller ID says the company is  DRS.

This recording says "MY OFFICE HAS SPENT ENOUGH TIME AND RESOURCES TRYING TO REACH YOU.  YOU NEED TO CALL BACK WITH CASE NUMBER XXXXXXX IMMEDIATELY."

They don't say what it is for or who it is for - it is some bogus collection attempt and they don't answer when you call back either.

I'm so tired of these scam artists and such calling even after being listed on do-not-call registries and complaints.

A massive federal investigation sting operation and crack down on these disgusting scammers are underway.

Pls contact the FTC and or your Attorneys General office to add these violators to their growing targets, or to learn if they are already indicted.

You can do a quick search on the web on FTC fake debt companies and public information that the government has disclosed. Some parts of that investigation is not yet public due to covert investigative activities still underway.

The government, state and federal, are making huge substantial wins on behalf of the consumer at large.

Be brave, the consumer is on the right side of the law no matter the debt. Harassment is an overt violation even if the collector were ligit, which however they are not.

Contact your local consumer agency for starters to report or do so on the web. But do do immediately. If you speak with these companies at al, which I don't recommend you do, but if so then record the call. And advise them you are doing so. Do not give out any identifiable information at all or confirm any. Just obtain their identity and contact information and report these offenses immediately.

Know or learn about your consumer rights. There is a statue of limitations as well, even if you  had incurred 'bad' debt. You will not go to court or jail because of a fake debt company.  Infact these fake companies are out of time and out of luck. They are playing their last card but finally the Feds have the scam and scammer identified, scared and on the run. They are the ones that are being served indicted sued and jailed. Folks the government is now utilizing homeland security and newly applicable laws to effect warrants and subpoenas and jail time for this level of scum fake companies? lead generators, payday loan fake companies who under these laws are operating illegally and deem to pose a "threat" to consumers / homeland security. This includes obtaining and stealing consumer identity information .

But act and act with a sense of urgency to notify the state and local government agencies to add immediate attention to all violators.

If you were contacted or harassed, this is indeed actually great news, now you can gather as much information as you can find, like on sites like this and all over the web about that scammer and Report them. Add them to the goverment's list of homeland security risk and ins entity terrorists.

Kind Thanks to State and Federal government, agencies, law makers, consumer advocates, and politicians who are protecting the consumer with these unprecedented collective collaborative and even now international measures and efforts.

Now add your voice!
