Give him one.. And file complaints with the CFB,FTC, State Attorney Generals office (yours and theirs).. Then go after them. Seek a FDCPA/TCPA attorney if you need to. Make sure you keep everything from them. If they call, keep recordings. Keep a notepad with names & details. Record the calls according to your states laws.

Debt Collector
I got vm at work.  I called # back and it was this mckellar group.  Same thing....I supposedly had debt and was going to get served and it would be very "embarassing" getting served in my place of business.  Asked for documentation and never received.  Less than a week later....800 charged on my debit card.  Luckily I work at bank and seen it hit.  I filled out proper paperwork, made police reports etc.  I did email them and got not one but many responses.  Funny thing is each response only incriminated their scam even more.  Police have those emails now.  This "Adam Owens" actually asked for a cease and decease from me!!!  What a lowlife piece of swamp scum.

These people just called my cell and my sister in laws cell looking for my ex, who I have not been with in over 10 years stating there was a complaint filed against him and he was going to be served.  I told them don't ever call me again!! I called the number back after listening to the message Tom Rogers left on my sister in laws cell phone and a woman answered stating there were no phone numbers in her file so she did not know how this man got my number.  I do believe my ex has old debt but much of that debt I am sure has fallen off his credit report and is now invalid.  These idiots buy VERY old debts and think they're going to get money.  They are absolutely insane!!

I see many comments in these thread and half of these people bashing don't know what the hell they are talking about.  People are not trying to get out of paying their old debts but if you're smart you're not going to give up money to someone trying to collect money from almost 15 years ago.

Well said --- however, I suspect this was a stealth/shill troll for the company.  I occasionally get calls for the previous owner of my cell number (he is deceased btw), some of which seem to be aggressive/abusive collectors.  The last thing I want to do is show up here and complain about it making negative statements about that person

You are wayyyyy out of line, disrespectful and definitely a person who gets a kick out of verbally abusing other people.  I hope you do not become homeless and out of money - then you will experience how it feels  and if so prayerfully no one will disrespect and belittle you!!!  But on the other hand you reap what you sow!!

Got a call from the following numbers 855-275-5199 and 855-872-6999
They also called at least 6 different people in my family several times a week by different represenatives each time. They asked for my maiden name which I haven't gone by in 12 years. Threatened me with a case number and outstanding debt. I called the number back and some guy answered "Hey this is Carl." I immediately hungup because I figured it was all a scam. A month later they call my sister's phone which she answered. They stated that they were literally taking me to court in the next 3weeks but if she paid my debt for me than they would drop everything. My sister terrified decided to try and pay my debt. They told her the debt was $4,523 but they would drop it down to $2,314 if she paid it right then. She gave her card number and waited for their confirmation email. In the meantime she called me and told me everything. I call the number back and the lady tells me that I apparently had a card open from the bank I had at 18. She said there was a negative balance on it for the past 13 years and that fees have been racking up nonstop. Mind blown about this I call the bank and they said my account has been closed since 2002. They verified that my account was closed without any negative balances or issues. The bank then told me to stop talking to McKeller Group immediately because it had to be some sort of scam since I have no issues with their bank. Finally I call McKeller Group back, explain all of this to them, ask them a few questions which they got upset about and then in the middle of me asking their address the lady just hungup on me. My sister had to cancel her card. We'll see if they keep calling back or not. Kind of scary that this even happened. It was all false! Be careful people!

And she has another  ex's last name - whi h is coincidentally like mine- so they think I'm related to the -witch! So angry today. I got another call! But I gave them an earful about her!!!

Got a call from a woman stating she was a processor server trying to verify my address, asked her about what and she told me to call TMJ at 855 872 7193 and gave me a case #.  Called this number and was transferred around to robert.  Said he was with McKellar Group a law firm in Beverly Hills, CA.  Had all my credit info except the debt he was collecting for was not me.  Tried telling him this was not my debt and he said I had to get a copy of my credit report and file a police report.  I told him I did not have to do this because it was not my debt.  He said I could go to court but it would be my word against his.  I hope I get served and then can counter-sue for harassment and false claims.  I called our Attorney General's office and reported the scam.

I called them back as well, after my ex-husband received a call. When I refused to give them any info they hung up on me. I called back and they gave me an address at 8200 Wilshire Blvd, Ste 400, Beverly Hills, Ca 90211. After some research, I found out that this is "virtual" office. Don't know if certified mail can be delivered to a virtual office, but I'll give it a go! Good luck to you.

I just got a notification that Mckellar and Associates also pulled my credit report without my permission. This has to be illegal! I did not give them permission. This could possibly lead to fraudulent activity or accounts issued in my name since my credit is actually decent! Something must be done about this!

Debt Collector
Yeah I received a call last week from this Company. We'll let me start over, I first received a text from my brother stating he had got a couple of messages from this company trying to serve a so & so ( me) some paperwork about a debt owed and that they were going to prosecute me but needed to serve me with the paperwork and if they couldn't get a hold of me than there would be a warrant issued for my arrest and than my brother also gave me their ph # 855 275 5269 with a file #.  So I apologized to my brother for the harassing call & said I would take care of it.  For the life of me I couldn't figure out what it could be because I knew I hadn't done anything wrong.  Yes I do have some, actually a lot of past debt that I owe & am planning on filing Bk but that's my business & yes whoever said no one knows each persons circumstance of how or why they have not paid these debts!  Everyone case is different & it's their business .  Anyway I called them blocking my number and spoke to a gentleman gave him the file # & than he proceeded to tell me I owed 5000.00 something to a bank & if it wasn't paid Ithe district attorney was going to prosecute me and he doesn't care about restitution he would make sure I did jail time for writing bad checks!  I told him I never wrote a bad check it was all bank fees that I owed to this bank and it was from several years ago & was no where close to 5000.00 & explained to him my situation & that I was filing bk he immediately jumped in and said I couldn't claim this bank cuz it was not a creditor!  I told him really??? I wasn't aware of this.  He than asked me how I could afford to file bk but couldn't afford to pay this debt & I told him they accepted payments.  Well in the end he told me that the bank was willing to settle for 800$ and would even accept 400.00 now & the other 400.00 in thirty days.  I said what part of I don't have any money do you not understand?  I asked him if I never get served how will I know when Iam suppose to go to court & if I could call him to find out he said sure & good luck to me!  Than the following day my phone rang with a "unknown" # coming up which I never will answer but a vm was left again saying his name & that he had received a complaint about me & I needed to contact this firm who was handling my case & left a file # & AGAIN  that same # 855 275 6269!  This is such Bull.... I have been really upset & worried & wondered what my rights were so I started checking around & first googled area code 855 to find out where it was then decided to call the number again knowing no one would answer late night .  A msg came on stating it was the Mckellar & Associates group and to leave msg with file #.  I then googled the company & saw all these complaints WOW  am amazed & thankful I saw this thx for the info and this company can F.... Themselves!

She is not a professional debtor. There is not such thing. It sounds to me like she is someone who knows her rights. Sounds like you are a debt collector and are justifying illegal practices. There are legal protocols collection agencies must adhere to. Those who don't, are bottom of the pond scum bags. Judging by your lack writing skills, you probably work for them too.

Mckeller & Associates  pulled my credit report without my permission. I have no  outstanding debt.  they called an old friend looking for me and threatening they were sending me something because they were a process server.  she said she didn't know me.
after reading all these reviews I don't care to call them but they pulled the hard copy from my report and I'm just wondering what I can do about it.  when I view my credit report,  it says if I didn't give my permission,  to contact the company that pulled it.
this is bull and has got to be an ancient debt.

If you've learned anything from this, I hope it's this:  NEVER pay any caller unless they MAIL a debt validation letter showing you owe a debt and that they have the legal right to collect said debt.  In fact, it's a violation of the FDCPA (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act) to refuse to mail this within five days of the first call to the alleged debtor.

Using threats of service, wages being garnished, etc is the modus operandi of outright scammers and junk debt buyers.  It's effective, because as you learned, it scares people into paying bogus debts.  Please DO report the caller to the FTC, FBI and your state's Attorney General.

Never pay any caller unless they MAIL a debt validation letter showing you owe a debt and that they have the legal right to collect said debt  You can find more information here:

Consumers across the country report that they're getting telephone calls from people trying to collect on loans the consumers never received or on loans they did receive but for amounts they do not owe. Others are receiving calls from people seeking to recover on loans consumers received but where the creditors never authorized the callers to collect for them. So what's the story?

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

She said she  can make an arrangement to pay half the amount she owed, they said they called and send my daughter letters, and was going to be served, and her wages will be garnished, I talked to my daughter and she had never received any letters or calls, and never had a wall mart credit card,  the year they are  talking about 2007 was the yr she went through a bankrupcy.   My daughter googled it, and came out w/Mckeller group, she called me right away and said to cancell the amount of $300.00 they were asking bcus it was a scam, I felt so foolish, called my bank and cancelle my debit card...my son tells me, when they called him, he started asking questions and put them on a spot to the point they didnt know what else to say, my son told them to give him more information of to f*** off!! If they refused it, it is indeed evidence. You should consult a attorney at this point and go after them..   That was a big no no,lol, hope you have logged and note booked all the calls as well as recorded them also.  The more evidence the merrier!

Wayne,

You?re a comedian, you don't even know who red 2 is and your are making those statements!! Hilarious! You obviously work there, and your real name is probably Jane. The funny thing is, that the majority of the people that collect debt for a living  are low life uneducated scum that can't get a job doing anything else, I guarantee not one person in your dirty little closet of an office has anything more than a high school diploma and your kind usually has just as bad if not worse credit as the "professional debtor", how ironic! These people that do this are the biggest cowards you will  ever meet, every last one of them uses a fake name, a mailing address (not a physical address) and talks crazy on the phone. I have also recently got a BS phone call from this fraudulent little company, it was a small debt that was paid off 5 years ago, I faxed over the proof and the moron on the other end of the phone was just stuttering and sounded like he had seen a ghost, he was upset because he couldn't steal from me. This is a group of con artist and they rely on people not being prepared, not having their paperwork inline and intimidation. My advice to you is if these criminals call you do not pay them, record all of your encounters with them, call an attorney that deals with debt collector harassment (Google it, you will find hundreds) you can initially speak with them for free and they will go over your rights and how to protect yourself, this is what I did and I knew exactly what to do. More than likely if these slime-balls called you probably have a case. Most importantly be proactive file complaints with FTC and authorities, get the word out about this company and companies like them.

Debt Collector
I continue to receive phone calls from McKellar Group requesting that I stay home on a certain day so they can serve me with court orders for an attempt to collect debt. Since I have no credit cards or loans I asked what it was about. I was told I had an outstanding balance on my "Wal-Mart" credit card, we didn't even have a Wal-Mart anywhere close to my town till a year ago and the debt they claim was from 2008, that's neither here nor there since I would never open a department store credit card anyways. I asked if they had any more information they could use for verification purposes, they used the middle initial E, mine is C, and they gave me the last 4 of a SSN that also was not mine (don't worry, I didn't disclose my SSN).

The first time this happened the guy on the phone said he'd remove my phone number, but they keep calling and I keep going through the same process. Today the same group called an identified themselves as "McKellar Group" I asked if they were a collection agency and the response was "no, we are an attorney's office". I quickly googled the company and sure enough found that they are a debt collector. I told the guy on the phone that the internet shows they're a debt collect and he said "Oh how smart you are to look us up on the internet, then of course it must be true"  in a very condescending tone, when I tried to respond he would make loud rude noises over me.

I called GE (holder of the Wal-Mart credit card services) and confirmed with them that I was not the person they are trying to contact and that they would notify the collection company, two hours later I just received another call from McKellar group. I'm a full time student and the money I have is better spent on food, rent, insurance, etc. then on hiring an attorney, this is just so frustrating. I did fire off an email to email address on the company website, but I'm doubtful this will do a bit of good.

just got a call from a "process server" at my job telling me that they were trying to serve me and needed to speak to my manager so they can get permission to serve me at work lol. i used to be a collector before and i know for sure these "process servers" wont call you to give you the heads up that they're actually trying to serve you... these FOOLS!! Anywho, i asked what debt are they calling me about and then she said "oh, sounds like you dont even know what's going on...why dont you give the McKellar group a call at 855.872.6997" ok??? sure dumbass, give me their contact info so that you can miss out on serving me and on getting paid haha. I then called and they kept putting me on hold so i just hung up. I googled them and i reversed searched their phone number and got the following address: 8200 Wilshire Blvd Suite 400 Beverly HIlls CA 90211 (i also called again and had the receptionist give me their mailing address and it was all the same). After like 30 mins the same girl called wanting to spk to my manager because they were trying to garnish my wages...this info was not given to me, it was given to my co-worker!! wtf? thats 3rd party disclosure!! then my boss calls me over to tell me about the call she just received from them and told me that i should counter sue because he disclosed debt info to her... luckily, she put them in their place and told them to stop calling my POE. I just sent them a certified letter stating that they have to verify the debt bla bla blah...lets see what happens.

"professional debtor" - where have we heard this before ? Oh yes, it was another shill.

You,sir, are a jackanapes. I pity your employer if you speak as you type.

Not to be a grammar Nazi, but since you're being a pompous a***:
1) You don't understand the concepts of capitalization, punctuation, and contractions.
2) Text speak is unacceptable in the real world. If this is how you filled out job applications, I am not surprised that you have nothing better to do than come here and shill.
3) Your spell check appears to be broken.

If you intend to come here and insult someone for circumstances they had no control over while trying to pretend to be more intelligent than they are, you might want to consider applying basic grammar skills. A 4th grader can do better.

Since you so wisely (note my sarcasm) suggested that the money be used to "not be homeless", may I suggest you use yours for a remedial English course ? Perhaps your career options would improve.
