Appears to be a scam. Non american voice and claiming hey want to discuss a job applicant that worked for me. They never did of course.The number didnt show on caller id. but there was a voice mail with a call back number. Calling back unknown numbers can lead to massive charges on your phone bill. Never call back an unknown.Claim the comp. name is posted signage. BS

I returned a call from this number.  First Advantage, an employment verification service.  I found them to be totally legitimate.

Called home phone at 7:15PM EST.  Caller ID = UNAVAILABLE.  Left a message to call "Ed", but because of his heavy Indian accent I could not understand the rest of his message.  Doubtful any legit company would attempt to contact another business for job verification at 7:15 PM on a Friday night!!!   Judging from the background chatter, this was obviously placed from a "call center".  If they go to all the effort to block their identity, I can make the effort NOT to answer their calls.  Just another low-life, bottom-feeding, scum-sucking phishing telemarketer.  They make excellent practice targets, by the way.  :-))

Message left but when I return call I get I wrong number message.  I also don't have access to international calls on my phone.

RYAN CALLED FROM THIS NUMBER 2 SEPERATE TIME THIS MORNING AND WAS TOLD THE PERSON NO LONGER WORKS HERE AND WAS ASKED NOT TO CALL HERE AGAIN, AND THEY DID. VERY RUDE PERSON!

I received a call from this number. It was a request for job verification. It was from lexus/nexis. I found this call to be completely legitimate.

That shouldn't be scary.  Heck there is an abundance of sources that one can get information about anyone.
Lots of closed and dead files laying around and even being sold.  One question that I would have asked right off the bat was "If you already know the company,  why don't you check your files,   or look it up yourself"
He was phishing for whatever purpose...

My husband got the same call on 10/4/12 asking for the phone number of his previous employer (they knew who it was) for a background check. This is obviously a BS scam and I'm going to lexus/nexis about it. Luckily he's not looking for a job right now or he might have bit, the fact that they know who the previous employer is is a little scary though.
