I suddenly got these calls too- at work. It started last week and he didn't even get my last name correct as I changed it 4 years ago! He went on and on about how I owe money and I will have to pay $20,000 in fines if I didn't pay $400.00 to him. He said he will get a warrant out for me. I said go ahead. Any American knows you need to bring me to court to get your money and to issue a warrant. He wanted to talk to my boss. I told him to call back Monday. And he did- over 20 times. Thankfully my boss got a kick out of it and wasn't mad. He even talked to them and told them to stop calling. They wanted his information also. We finally called our phone company and was able to block the numbers when they came in. We currently have 11 numbers blocked! They do keep calling from a 000 # and for some reason, we have to block that everyday but they still call..... I reported them the best I could and did put a fraud notice on my credit report just in case. Fingers crossed they stop soon.

Good for you Todd.  You'd think these Indian scammers would get burned out on this same old "I wish you luck"  Scam.    I guess they are still pulling in some rupees or they'd move on to another way of stealing.

Received a voice mail from 829-431-2900...lady with a hard foreign accent claiming to be Janet Cooper. She said I had a case against me and that I needed to call 855-276-8970 because my time was limited. ....I get these calls a lot. They always end with how they wish me luck. I told one lady that I rather wait and go to court....she didn't know what to say....I gave another a fake card number...1, 2, 3, 4, etc.....she finally gave up when I reached 80....lol.....oh I forgot, there is a deaf guy in India now...well he wasn't deaf until after I warned him. I warned him to stop calling me. He said he wouldn't so I put ear plugs in my ears and blew a whistle as loud as I could into the phone....lol

These people started this morning around 11:15 harrassing me on my job.  They called non-stop and even told me that if I got fired they didn't care and not to blame them.  They would not give me any information and they refused to give me a certain amount.  They even told my employer that they didn't care if he fired me.  They told my employer that they would keep calling and they did.  One guy even told me if I send them $200 they would then send me some documentation as to what this supposed debt was for.They called over 30 times today & they only stopped when I acted like I was going to call them back with a payment of money.

I have been getting theses call my self. I just call back and said don't f@#$ talk about it be about it send your f@#$ papers. and don't call me anymore. the government is listing on call why not these. there should be someone  to report this to. our can you call the phone company and block them?

I had 2 missed calls from this number, and when I called it back the man ("Daniel") said my name was Jeremy and that I owe a large sum of money.  I told him that my name is Alexandra, not Jeremy.  I told him that Jeremy is my ex-husband, and it didn't surprise me that he owed a large sum of money, but that I couldn't help him.  "Daniel" then told me that my name was on the loan too, and that I am being held just as legally responsible for the debt as Jeremy.  That made me laugh out loud, and I knew it was a scam at that point.  I said, "Sir, I might have been dumb enough to marry him, but I was never dumb enough to take out any kind of loan with both of our names on it.  Furthermore, I very aware of all the debts I inherited from our divorce settlement and they were all paid off a long time ago.  Nice try though!"  He then responded,"F*ck you, you stupid f*cking b*tch."  Now, I had heard about scammers like these before, and was aware that they can basically do/say whatever they want without any legal ramifications (not to mention stealing people's money).  His comment really angered me, but luckily he happened to catch me on a good day, so my current husband and I only proceed to call & harass them non-stop for the next 2 hours, instead of several hours.  One guy also made the mistake of telling me that they only had one line, and that we were preventing them from reaching other customers (not too bright on his part).  When they finally started just picking up and hanging up, I would leave them long, annoying messages.  Told them if they didn't respond to my message IMMEDIATELY that LEGAL ACTION would be taken, they will be sent to jail, they will be cursed with a horrible accent that makes it so no American customers can understand them, and that God would rain fire on their homestead.  Oddly enough, they have never called me back :)

You need to read these and then go file complaints appropriately! There's a lot of this happening under many different numbers. Extortion to downright fraud! Violations of the FDCPA laws!  You can't be arrested for owing money, its a civil matter and if you do, they would serve you with legal papers to appear in court!

I was called today but they threaten me with prison and I had to pay 15000. They continued to say they are with usacashnetworks. When I ask for more info he got really upset and threaten to have me arrested at work. He then preceeded to hang up on me. When I called back. They would not answer. If anyone has anymore info, it would be greatly appreciated

Got a couple of messages from this number yesterday and again today.  The message was a garbled, very definite Indian accent saying that my name and social security number were being used to perpetrate some type of fraud (?) and that I needed to contact them right away.  Knowing these calls were BS, I decided to call the number back earlier today to end the messages and threatened the gentleman who answered with legal action if I were contacted again.  I got another call a couple of hours later from the original caller, so I answered, had to talk loudly over him because he began yelling at me that his supervisor wanted to talk to me, and then hung up on him.  He then proceeded to call again 8-10 times in the next 7 minutes, but I had turned the answering function off of my phone, so he was unable to leave any further messages.  I hope this puts an end to these messages.  How frustrating that we have to put up with this type of BS and can do nothing about it legally.  I'm so thankful I found this page to know I'm not alone in this frustration!

The little Mumbai Boiler Room Banditos couldn't get themselves arrested if they tried.  It is so silly the way these Asian/Indian thieves throw around the empty threats and hope to hook a sucker.  They have only called me once,  but it was almost comical when they started the threats.   "Steve"  was the name of my personal "estortionist"  from the Indian Boiler Room Call Center.  I'm sure  Kevin,  Kyle,  David,  Crystal,  and Suzan were all on standby.   I understand that "Mark"  quit and went to work for  At&T customer service selling  Bundles.

Read all of the above posts.   Do not talk to these thieves,  hang up.  Advise your manager of what they are doing in calling the employers...

It's not a US firm or even a legitimate business.  These are scammers located in India who are running this extortion scam.

I recommend that you make a copy of this Thread and give it to your employers with a formal letter explaining what these scammers from india are doing and how you cannot stop them.   The Indian scammers have learned how to put pressure on people by calling their employer.  All it takes is for you to discuss this with your manager and the scamming Indian thieves are out of business as far as your employer is concerned.

They are scammers calling from India.   yes,  they will call back.   "Harassment"!!   Now that I've said it,  let me say that there isn't a bloomin thing you or anyone else can do about it.  Our Government has little chance with the uncooperative Indian government.

The good news is that it is Legal to lie to scammers....they do it.

Yes indeed it will continue.   The ones responsible for these calls and many others are scammers located in southern Asia...namely India/Pakistan.  The government can't touch them because of an uncooperative foreign government who believes that it's okay to scam people of other countries who have more than them.  One even posted on this board that he had a right to make a living too. (by extorting others)

I got a call from them today, the first guy was Anthony, first they called my cell and I didn't answer because I was at work, and within a  few minutes they called my work. The person I talked to pretty much said I owed a bill and I needed to pay it right away. I couldn't hardly understand them, they don't speak very good English. I told them I would call them back later, before I got off work they called me again, and I told them not to call my work place ever again and I would call them back, and he said he needed to get his manager, so Mike get's on the phone, and I tell him not to call my work and I would call him back. So when I got off work I called them and the guy that answered the phone was Donald, and I asked to talk to Mike and he said this is him and I said I thought you just said your name was Donald and he said yes Donald Mike, and I said the guy I talked to earlier today was Mike and he says just a  second and them he hung up on me.

I'm an former employer of the person they were trying to get a hold of.  Certainly did not understand, "None of your business.  Your inquiries and statements are inappropriate, etc"  Got indignant when I told him that employee had left over a year ago (more like 2,) "But the records say..."  And I know more than I have a right to know.

What burns me up, they called my oncall service tech--just happened to be me this evening--and that was deliberate on their part.

Clueless, Rude, Offensive--if someone can actually get a hold of who they are doing collections for and it turns out to be a US firm, please let me know--I'd like to actually hold them accountable for their contracted vendor's actions.

I got a call from that number saying I didn't pay back a loan and that I had a warrant and was being sued for like $3000.the guy would have a different name every time like mike or Ryan but the accent was clearly of Middle East. He would hang up or yelled when questioned and recently called me at work harassing me and my managers as well for not handing the phone over called like five times in a row.

I received the same threats and I said sounds good serve me with paper and I will have it taken care of and hung up. I then received 12 calls back to back in a 5 min period. Can you say harassment? This is crazy I have not idea who these people are but I hope he does not call back I had to turn my phone off for a couple hours!

Just received a call from this number. The guy on the phone said i had a case against me and said he had to transfer me. at this point a person who barely spoke english started talking. I said i am sorry i can barely hear you, it sounds like you are all the way in India. that is when he hung up on me. haven't heard back yet.

Threatening me that I will arrested and that I owe them money they called 6 times in 15 minutes demanded my employers number.  I said they weren't here and they said I lied. to them

I have received numerous phone calls threatening that I will go to prison and that I have committed check fraud and various other threats. These people have nothing better to do than to threaten Americans and attempt to extort money from them. The Government cannot touch them nor can they be traced. This is blatant harassment and is not legal by any means. Unfortunately, this type of criminal behavior will continue.
