Why do honest law-abiding folks have to go through so many hoops -- sending letters, filing complaints, keeping detailed records & logs, paying for certified mail, for lawyers, etc etc etc -- and the dishonest dirtbags do nothing but continue to harrass us & scam our hard-earned moiney? Am I the only person who sees this? There is something seriously wrong here! The message I'm getting is: Ignore the law, ignore the FCC. Just keep scamming. It's so hard to catch & prosecute & punish the dirtbags that I'll make my profit & have fun doing it! Yes, the burden is all on the honest suckers out there!

AM SICK AND TIRED OOF THIS NUMJBER CALLING AND HANGING UP.....!!!! STOP!!!!!
I stopped them! 2012-10-25 19:23:30 Unknown
I got Phone Tray. Best thing I ever did. It stops all these numbers. you just have to type them in and choose what way you want to stop them...by having a recording saying this number has been disconnected; or this number is no longer in service, or with just air or with a loud whistle, or any number of other choices. And the phone will only ring once and that's it. It is GREAT!!! First I look up the number on this website, and if it's here, it goes right on my zap list. I am so happy to be free from these jerks!

Get calls from these a**les daily...the DNC list is a farce...more Government eyewash from the morons in Washington...no guts to do anything...heck! the telemarketers are probably in the FTC's pocket.

Received a phone call from 855-282-6595. Answer phone picked up - no reply from other end.
This was at 8:45 in the morning.. There should be a way to stop these calls. I'm on the
DO Not Call list but it doesn't seem to help.

Once in a while I do pick-up on these calls. I ask them if they are aware of the provisions in the Telephone Consumer Protection Act 47 U.S.C. § 227 (1991). They aren't so I tell them 2 things required by the Act; (1 send me a copy of your do not call policy and (2 Put me on your do not call list. Failure to do these 2 things can result in a $500.00 fine for each additional call. Either that or I answer the phone in my best "Lawyer" voice with the name of a fictious firm!!!!!

I just want to say that at a friend's recommendation, I got a product called Phone Tray. I love it! It even blocks entire area codes if you want, which is great because tons of robocall and other nuisance calls come from the same area code. And there's no limit on how many calls you can block.
It used to be free, but when I got mine, they were starting to put out the word that the new version would be about $25 or $30, It is well worth whatever the cost. It zaps the numbers after only one ring and keeps a log of all incoming calls and indicates which ones it zapped. (And no, I don't work for the company. It's just that good a product and produces great results.

That's an old ruse. They figure your neighbors will think, "Gee, my neighbor ABCDE must be part of that charity. I'll give something just to look like a good guy." It's all a scam. To stay within the grey areas of the law, they probably buy one cheap ad in a local paper saying, "Be Aware of Autism!" They keep the other 99% of the money they collect.

I wouldn't count on 'unsubscribe' actually working. If it doesn't and you can find a mailing address, then a cease and desist letter might have better chance (sent certified mail, return receipt requested.) Keep the card with a copy of the letter you sent. If they repeatedly call after you get the card back, then you may have a case for harassment.

I wrote to an Autism place and this is what they wrote back. This is a letter that appears on their legit website. They aren't happy campers either to be misrepresented. Bottom line - I don't do any phone donations at all. And don't be upset with the real entities that really do good. This letter has some good pointers. But the best advice is just don't answer unknown calls. Until something can be done to really trace and punish spammers, we will have to deal with them without getting ourselves upset.

Autism Speaks has been told, by our supporters, that they have been solicited for donations from an organization identifying itself as the Autism Spectrum Disorder Foundation, implying that they either work with or for Autism Speaks. They do not. Autism Speaks has no affiliation or association with the Autism Spectrum Disorder Foundation. Autism Speaks does not use an outside group or authorize any other group to raise money on our behalf through direct calls to individuals. In addition, Autism Speaks does not ever use automated calling to solicit donations. With any solicitation for donations, you should be aware of the following:
Before giving any money or donation to anyone calling over the phone, ask the following questions: Is the entity registered in your state to raise charitable funds and is the person calling you working for a private group that benefits financially if they raise money for that entity? Autism Speaks does not use any outside entities or fundraising companies to directly raise money on our behalf. We are also registered in each state.
Ask the caller how much of your donation goes to services and how much goes to the company. In most states, answering this question is a requirement.
Ask the caller if the organization for which funds are being raised has a website and if the organization has accreditation from a reliable oversight group.
Ask the person calling for their name and phone number to call them back after you review the organization. If they don?t wish to give you their name, hang up.
If the call is automated, listen for a number to enter to ?unsubscribe.?

Stop calling. I have an unlisted phone number for a reason!

We have the Digitone Call Blocker also and wouldn't be without it. You can block by area codes or phone numbers. If you reach your limit of numbers to block, you can block all numbers "except" the ones you put in your accepted numbers that can call you. It has been worth every cent to us and we haven't had it but about 5 months.
Phoebe 2012-08-27 20:27:46 Unknown
I have the Digitone Call Blocker and love it.You can block calls that show up as UNKNOWN,PRIVATE,OUT OF AREA.On the Digitone box, press and hold the Program Button until you see "Program Mode" on screen,Then "Pick up Phone" will appear.Either pick up receiver on your phone or hit "talk" on cordless phone. When the prompt for "Enter Code" displays on Digitone screen, enter 73 on phone keyboard. If you have problems call Digitone 877-610-5693.These folks are very helpful.I wish you well.
x 2012-08-27 20:10:22 Unknown
Phone Tray Free is just as good and doesn't cost anything. Google Phone Tray Free.
Phoebe 2012-08-27 20:07:47 Unknown
The Digitone Call Blocker can be set to block calls that show up as UNKNOWN,BlOCKED,PRIVATE,OUT OF AREA.You can also block entire area codes or individual numbers. I had to reset my box when I got it, because it was allowing blocked numbers to show on my phones caller ID. Please go back and read the instructions. If you have problems understanding them, call their toll free number (877-610-5693) and someone will answer your questions.I love my Digitone System. It's the best $100 I ever spent. The telemarketers call,Digitone records their numbers in the Digitone box, they get hung up on by Digitone and my phone never rings. But I do have a list of Telemarketers to report to DNC and the FCC (which I do on a regular basis)

Sheriff, can you kill them a third time....or how about "stinging" and arresting them? The FTC does nothing but law enforcement might be able to scare them a bit....
We'd all be grateful!

Information from Jeb, on another website:
Autism Spectrum Disorder Foundation of Schererville, Ind., a charity that addresses childhood autism issues. The charity reported that its three fundraisers raised nearly $2.6 million in contributions in 2010. Total to the charity: $164,000, or about six cents of each $1 donated.

Scammer NOT Autism Awareness 2012-08-27 13:58:52 Unknown
This is NOT Autism Awareness!!! They do NOT make phone calls to solicit fundraising.
These are SCAMMERS!!!!!!!!!!
The "Digitone 10" call blocker SUCKS. It does NOT block unwanted calls. Many times unavailable / unknown calls can come from doctors offices, emergency/law enforcement personnel using secured cell phones or other legitimate sources. This only blocks a phone number... which scammers constantly change with their Internet Caller ID software. $100 for this thing is a RIPOFF! It's only worth $25 at the most.

Second day that have call this number. Answering machine picks up and they immediately disconnect. We are on the Do Not Call Registry and do not appreciate receiving these calls.

Another all! What happened to the Do Not Call request I made?!
Khem 2012-08-18 12:40:28 Unknown
This number calls several times a day. Caller ID has "unavailable" and they never leave messages--I never pick up on scam calls. I just keep the sound turned off and check for messages occasionally, and delete all the calls (99%) of telemarketer scams and call back on any legit ones! Phone stays quiet and I have control of my space and time again! As no one is going to do anything about the crooks, I make it a waste of THEIR time and resources to continue to call me fruitlessly!
Another trick is to forward all 800 calls coming in to the FCC phone #. When they start getting swamped with forwarded scam call, perhaps they will "see the light" and do something to relieve the scammers of most of their ill-gotten gains on a more regular basis!
kaci 2012-08-16 16:02:44 Unknown
They call several times a day and there is nothing but clicks and then a fast busy. ugh! annoying. I will show them ... getting rid of the land line in October!

Dave in Anaheim 2012-08-11 18:31:31 Unknown
Yea, I have alos asked not to be on their list. But the guy who called again today did not know that. If it was a reputable charity, they would respect the do not call list. It is sad that kids are afflicted with autism, but I don't think it's fair that these companies are making money off of their condition.
Coach 2012-08-11 17:31:28 Unknown
Calls one a day but leaves no messages. I called back and there is no answer.
