Definitely a scam, avoid.  1-855-288-9762.  Add to blacklist.  Claimed to be Verizon Wireless rep who had new pricing options available for our account.  Do not give them ANY information.  If you want new rates you go directly to Verizon's website, telephone number, or a walk in store.

Didn't take their call.  Then figured out on this site I did right thing.

Since I have a Verizon account:

When telemarketers call me, I log into vzw.com and add the number to my list of blocked callers. I know the block only lasts for 90 days but it keeps my line telemarketer free.

I also block the customer service follow up survey calls .

They say they're Verizon.

But I called Verizon, and Verizon says they cannot stop these calls, because they're not coming from Verizon.

I think they're Verizon.  or acting on their behalf.

Either way, they are unwanted.  DNC registry is useless.

Here is the scoop.  I called the number.  They claimed to be Wireless till I pressed him furthur.  He told me that they are " Dial America" which is authorized as a Call Center to make calls for Verizon.  I told him that I am on the Do Not Call List and he claimed that I gave Verizon authorization to call me for upgrades etc.   I told him where did I give Verizon authorization?  He told me that he did not know but I could talk to his supervisor but maybe somewhere buried in the contract I did give Verizon authorization to call me.   Very sneaky and a way around the law by Verizon.  This Call Center was out of New Jersey from 855-288-9762

Did not recognize the number so did not answer.  They did not leave a vmail.

I have been receiving a call on a daily basis from 855-288-9762 and I refuse to answer it.  Based on all the comments written, Verizon is not doing its customers any favors by trying to reach out to them using telemarketers with unidentifiable telephone numbers.  It appears that Verizon is loosing business because customers like myself, refuse to answer the phone.  Even if I am eligible to upgrade my phone, I would rather talk with a real person in a store to get a better picture of the upgraded phone and what it could do for me.  With that  Verizon, stop calling customers with unidentifiable telephone numbers.      

This number called me on my business cell line and identified herself as calling on behalf of Verizon Wireless. Asked for a foreign sounding name I've never heard of. I told her it was a wrong number and she very politely apologized and said she'd remove the number from her system. I assume it was either a customer service call or sales call.

This number has called many times and also leaves not message.

I have an unlisted phone, and also am on the do not call list, which is updated as often as we can.
These harrassing call are getting out of hand.
No one's number should be give out to be used as a Telemarketing device.
If we want something, we will get it on our own.

These losers won't give up, they keep calling and don't leave a message.

Called me twice, didn't recognize number, let the answering machine answer, but they did not leave a message.

I called it back ..poor lady that answered was really offended when I mentioned the reverse look up and told her it was a scam ...still didn't give her any info just ask them to stop calling. She said she needed my number to take off a list ..but I just couldn't do it so I let her go

You are wise to be suspicious. They called my cell phone, claimed it was Verizon Wireless. The man hung up on me upon my second statement that I was not interested.

Been getting these calls from Verizon everyday this week.  I keep telling them I do not want to upgrade my plan but they still keep calling.  Plus I get this annoying echo every time I speak.   So I hang up on them.

They called around 2 pm.  I don't answer unknown calls or those I have added to my contact list as Do Not Answer. This number has now been added under that contact.

I just got a call from them using this number; I had gotten such calls before, but I was surprised when they told me I had a different account setting (ie no data, no texting) than what I know I have.  Without accusing them of scamming, I asked them what phone I use, and the caller answered correctly, and then gave me details of data usage, which matched what I knew already.

855 numbers are just Toll Free numbers.  just like 800, 866 and 888...although we all like to associate TFN's with telemarketers, scams, and bill collectors...they are also use by plenty of legitimate companies.  I would say that a call from any number asking for your information is a scam.  855 is a newer TF number (opened about 3 + years ago), so people are still getting used to it.

Just got the 2nd call from this number in a week. I didn't answer it but it sounds like it is Verizon Wireless. I am due for an upgraded phone and normally I do this right away so I bet they are calling to see if I am going to upgrade. Nope. When my contract is up in Oct I am going with a cheaper per-paid phone service.

I logged onto my verizon account and entered this number to be blocked. It accepted it (I was surprised!) Hope it works.

Must be a scam. I just got a call from this and another number claiming they are Verizon. Total b/s. people who say it is legit are associate w the scam. Verizon never calls frOm numbers like that

Guy called from Verizon.  I told him that I have had Verizon for years and never had a call like this. He went over my account as I had just done a week ago. I had already changed my plan to save me money. He offered me bonus rollover minutes if I added a year to my contract. Absolutely not!!! I have never even come close to using my minutes so why would I want that? Especially if I have to have a longer contract.

I just got a call from this number too so I called Verizon to check that it wasn't a scam and they actually had the call on file, so it is definitely a Verizon person. They were just calling to go over my account and let me know I could get an upgrade.

I withdraw my hypocrisy claim. It is possible that Google inserted the Verizon ad based upon its intrusive privacy policies which, in this case, preys upon our comments about annoying Verizon calls.

These are definitely harassing calls on behalf of Verizon for selling new plans to current Verizon suckers. This site and others show that this is a night and day campaign.

This WhoCallsMe site opens by saying ...Report it... immediately above a paid ad from VERIZON!!! Hypocrisy? or horribly foolish judgement. Playing both sides against the middle?

I don't want to get unsolicited calls.  I signed up for the right not to receive unsolicited calls, yet this idiot and others call me.

I upgraded yesterday and was called by this number today. I was suspicious... they are calling back today but I am not doing anything though them, just my local Verizon dealer.
