Yes, this is a scam.  REAL process servers do NOT call ahead of time - they just show up, unannounced.  Per the FDCPA, you should not pay any caller who refuses to MAIL - do not accept email or fax - proof of debt/proof your caller has the legal right to collect said debt.  Refusal to mail this documentation within five days of their initial contact with you is another violation of federal law, and you should not pay them.  In other words - no written, verifiable proof you owe this money to them - do not pay, per the FDCPA.  Oh, and if they pull the argument that they are "arbitration" or a "law office" and the FDCPA doesn't apply to them - they are wrong. Arbitrators and lawyers, who work as or on behalf of debt collectors, also must obey federal debt collection laws!

I got a call from a Cindy Scott, had the last 4 digits of my SS# & said she would be bringing me documents for court unless I call & take care of this. Do they ever really show up or have papers delivered?  She left a message, I never talk to her personally. Is this really a scam?

I'm sorry to see so many people being scared and intimidated by these callers.

Be assured that they are trying to scam you!  You don't have to listen to them.  Don't call back!  Don't put any effort or emotion into trying to find out what is going on.  It's bogus!  Just wait for the 'official' documentation to arrive to you in the mail.  It won't arrive because the whole thing is fraudulent.

Same stories as above apply to my husband and I. I just had "that feeling"... canceled my debit card and reported it to the BBB.  The BBB said the company has no info listed except their name, location, and a very low rating!  JS Resolution would not give me any information or mail me proper documents first. I told them I would look into it and they'd hear from my lawyer,  to which they turned into a yelling rage and hung up on me. The BBB and my bank stated that they were a scam if they would not give me any info about MY debt without payment.

I got a call from these folks on June 18th... We were out of town, unable to run trace on the phone number, so I called back...
Gave them the. 'Case number' they said please hold ... I did, for over 20mins... Then the call ended.
Came home found what everyone else has gone through, and of course they never called back...

I had the exact same thing happen to me today. Everything everyone is saying about "Amber" happened to me. I talked to a lawyer today and it's a total scam. I almost didn't want to believe what the lawyer was telling me. You can't believe anyone these days. But how crazy all these posts happened in the same fashion. Makes me feel better that I'm not the only one.

Laurie,
Calm down. Your caller is a scammer. Nothing but a fraudulent collector attempting to collect on an invalid debt. "Amber" is a fraud. The debt she's trying to collect on is time-barred. It's past the Statutes of Limitations regarding the collection of debt in every state. She can NOT successfully sue you for a dime. Do NOT pay her a single penny. Doing so could re-set & re-validate the debt. That's what she's hoping you'll be foolish enough to do.
Research & know your rights under the FDCPA. It's easy. Google it. Then DEMAND a notice of validation be mailed to you. NOT e-mail or fax. "Amber" will audibly wet her pants, go in to a tirade of laughable threats & will make it very clear to you what a pathetic fraud she is. She will NOT mail you a thing. She will NOT serve you a thing. She will NOT visit you at work. She's a nothing. Just a minimum wage cubicle-clown trying to supplement her meager wage with a commission. Ignore her. Block her calls if you can.
Be Safe. Be Aware.

Debt Collector
I received a call from this number stating I had an outstanding balance owed to a company from 2003.  She could not send me any information except for a receipt once I paid the amount in full...which was a little over $400.00.  I felt quite uneasy so I did not give her my bank information.  She said the name of the company was JS Resolutions, a debt collector.

OK.....so I need some help here.  I received the call as well from a lady named Amber stating the same thing that she was collecting a debt from 2003.  I got the threat as well that she would be serving papers from the court. She gave me an amount I could settle for which was a little over $300.00.  I got a little concerned when she could not send me any papers about my debt. and said she could only fax a receipt after I paid.  All she had was the last 3 digits of my ss#.  I guess what Im worried about is what if this is for real....I dont want to get served any papers at my job....but how do I know if this is legitimate??  I really need advice as to what I need to do please!!!!

We just got the same call yesterday from " JS Resolutions" with the phone # 1-855-295-4658. They gave us a case # and said we wrote a fraud check from a bank of a closed account. They had this big story about how we were on camera writing the bad check.... okay! And we were to pay over $500 by a certain date, someone is "suppose to be" coming to our house to serve us court papers because they are suing us. This so called issue was back in 2008, this is ridiculous! We are positive this company is not real, and from what I checked with the BBB, they just opened there "business" only 3 months ago! Do not pay them any money if they call you!! There are so many hoax's that people are not aware of, don't get scammed!

But i did catch that she is calling from JS Resolution. She gave me some case number and said that some documents will be mailed to my residence and my employer. And that I need to call 855-295-4658 number if i have any questions which i don't. I do check my credit report and i don't have any debts on it. And these guys from JS Resolution say i did some fraud on some check and that i need to send them some money. They say I took a loan who knows when and that my check bounced... and some other bs..... Don't be afraid of these people. Even if u have any debts that are old. Just tell them that the statute of limitations of this alleged debt has expired. DONE.

Yep, just got the same call!  I had to listen too it several times since she talked very fast. ( also from a blocked number) She said her name was "Brittany Parks" Gave me my last 4 digits on my social, and said something about getting a fax and she had to come to my home or work to serve me the paperwork (which is illegal by the way) if I didnt call them back within the next 24 hours. I thought she said she said she was with with "JA Resolution Group" but it was hard to understand since she talked so fast lol. I did call back however, and a recorded message answered and said this is "Phoenix Resolution Group" (I live in Phoenix) what a coincidence right? and told me to leave a message...I of course didnt. If you ever talk to any of these people, NEVER give out personal information, but do ask them for their address and tell them to cease and decease and that you are going to send them a registered letter to do so. Tell them you are going to tell them you are going to notify the FTC, your local Attorney General, and a Consumer Law Attorney. If they are a real debt collector you can sue them for damages and can get the debt wiped out. But all of you are right, these people are normally scammers, and buy the original debt for pennies on the dollars and bully you to pay off the loan. They can do nothing to you. They move from place to place so the Consumer Law Attorneys cant track them down (trust me Ive tried to do this) After they find out you're not going to take the bait, they move on to the next victim. Your number is on the rotary system. Also I dont know which states you guys live, but most states default the loans within 4-6 years (Arizona does) but if you agree that you owe the loan, it starts all over again...make sense? :) So dont agree or disagree to owning up to the loan. Just say that they need to send you everything in the mail, no further contact is to be done by phone! You want the loan amount, the original debtor, their address...etc. Dont fall for anything. I hope this helps :)

Same scenario here. Call from a blocked number, which I didn't answer, she spoke very fast saying I was put on her list "to serve" & she had the last 4 of my social. She said she represented JS Resolutions, which just defaults to some "virtual address", which appears to be in Albany, NY, but is just used to appear in a certain area so they can get into a specific court district (according to the web). She left this number with a case number. It all sounds very suspicious. I've been cleaning up my credit for years and have virtually nothing bad on it, except a few late payments. Sounds like a scam trying to get money. She said her name was Katia Marshal. She said she works for "the Liasons office" and this morning in her office was a "fax notification that there's a case being filed under your name and social security number". She said "they are requesting that I stop by your residence and or place of employment to get a signature on some documents..." She's obviously just reading off a script and trying to talk as fast as possible to get as many calls in as she can. Don't send these people any money.

I got the same call! I asked if they were a debt collector and the guy said no they were arbitration. They had the last 4 of my social and said it was a bill over 10 years ago. I called them back today as a lady speaking really fast left me a voicemail last week saying she was coming to my job/home to serve me papers. And the guy today said they were going to subpoena me. I asked him when he responded within the next 24-48 hours. From what I've read online this is a huge scam!!

This was a strange call to an inlaws home that asked for me by name. The person gave the name of Philips Garnet with a company name Resolutions He gave a case number and a 855-295-4658 number to contact a (no name given) person directly that had filed some sort of complaint. Philip Garnet did not leave a contact number on the voicemail. He spoke very fast, making it hard to understand the message. very suspicious!
