I have just noticed that 6.99 has been deducted from my account for at least the past three months.  Thanks to all who have posted here and shared their stories about ESH TechProtrct. I will be contacting my bank and mobile carrier also first thing tomorrow in order to figure out how to get refunded these monies.  A year of these charges per person is a rediculous $83.88!!  How many thousands of dollars ar these scammers stealing?!

I just found this charge on a credit card I got after two months after my newest phone and 6 months after I purchased the phone itself. I immediately called my credit card company and they removed the charge and is sending me a new card. All insurance charges with verizon are billed to my verizon statement. I am quite curious though that it appears to be only customers of verizon or old Alltel accounts (which I am).

Received a letter titled "Cancellation Notice" stating "... your protection is at risk. We are unable to process your payment with the credit card currently on file for this phone: ..."  The phone number, handset model, and ESN information follows, so it looks like information from the cell phone provider.
However, I have NEVER used a credit card to pay a bill like this.
Their instructions for providing a credit card number imply that is the only way they accept payments. Several other phrases make this sound like a scam to me:
1. Your wireless provider cannot assist you ...
2. (In bold) Safeguard your phone by contacting us now.
3. Multiple rferences to "program" and "your policy" there is no account or policy number referenced in the letter.
4. The site they list for a "full copy of your policy" is ... esecuritel.com/CelluarSales.
5. The tone of the letter is threatening, like they hope to panic people into asking for a service they may not want or need.

This number is the number for the ESH techprotect insurance.  We had the same unwanted charges happen to us.  Beware when you purchase a phone from Verizon.  We declined the insurance and are still fighting with this company to stop charging our account. The first time we received someone else's signed approval, now after a second bill we are still trying to get them to stop and refund charges.  Don't trust your Verizon sales person.

I know what this $4.99 Charge is for.  I live by a new Verizon store that just open not too long ago.  I needed a WiFi to connect my laptop to do some mobile training and go to the Web.  So I went to the local Verizon Store.  I too found the $4.99 on my bank statement.  I research it and found out that the Verizon Store is NOT a Verizon Store.  It is a Cellular Sales Store that sales Verizon  Products and the Verizon Signage on the store.  When I bought the WiFi device the sales person wanted me to get Insurance on it.  I told her I already had Verizon Insurance (Asurion) on my devices.  She said that her store is a Retail store for Verizon products and that they do not offer Asurion with their sold products.  If I needed Insurance I had to get it through ?their? provider TechProtect for a monthly Fee of $4.99 for my WiFi device..  I got the Insurance because being Mobile Teaching and if I lost it I wanted to replace it Immediately.  I have also learned that if you demand Asurion Insurance these Verison Cellular Sales Store are to offer it too you.   My sales person did not offer Asurion she lead me to believe TechProtect was the only Insurance that they could offer with my device.  I am returning to the store Mon to try to get this stopped.  If I can not I will cancell this card.  Hope this helps all.

this happened to me.  6 days after I purchased 2 new phones on my debit card.  insurance was added. I could not get any help from the phone # I went to the Verizon store I purchased them from, I told them I did not authorize this charge .  they contacted the company and it was refunded back into my account within 24 hours.  I also cancelled my debit card and applied for a new one so this can not happen again

TECHPROTECT PREM is definitely a fraudulent company. Verizon confirmed that this is not a charge for cell phone insurance and that they have seen numerous complaints and/or fraudulent situations related to this group. According to the Ga. Attorney General's office, they have been following this group for a while and is on the verge of making arrests. The group is fairly unsophisticated and has done a bad job of covering their tracks.

Let me clarify- my card was charged 10.99- the number ESH-ins gives on the charge is 8553098345. I just tried to call that number because I want to cancel the insurance on my new phone. IT SAID THE NUMBER HAS BEEN CHANGED- if so then why is whoever is charging my account giving an incorrect phone number-- how can I cancel???? Can't call a number they give me that is incorrect- stop judging people as idiots that don't know what they're doing.

This is insurance for my Verizon cell phone. The problem is it is not the amount that the sales person said I would be charged each month. I am going to cancel it because the charge is always different and never has been the amount that Verizon said it would be. I would rather just eat the charge of a cell phone if anything ever happens.  This is just my two cents.............

I believe this is the monthly deduction for my cell phone insurance that I signed up for at the Verizon store when I bought my new phone. It is different from Assurion that I have from them before. This is taken from my credit/debit acct. every month, and not added to my monthly Verizon bill.

I have been double charged for $6.99, after looking through my account history 2 other charges have showed up from previous months. I have not had a Verizon phone in over a year, but that's what the bank says it is from, 3rd party insurance. Someone in the bank office also got dinged by the same thing. A friend also said a co-worker called Verizon and after much complaining found out that it my have stemmed from account info being sold.
Now my bank account is suspended for 4 days while they issue a new card, but that's really the only way to stop it, and luckily I caught the double charges while pending, so they were canceled, the others are being disputed. I called the # associated with the charge and I got a lame apology message, a link to a run around web page, and was told that if I wanted to speak to a human to wait on the line, at which point I was disconnected

It's insurance for Verizon wireless phone customers.  They did however also double bill us and claimed one of the pending authorizations would fall off but dispute it with our bank if it doesn't (yeah thanks for f'ng up and inconveniencing us for their mistake).  There seems to be a wide range of billing amounts as well.  I see the guy above pays $4.99.  We pay $6.99 and then I see the $10.99 above.

Okay, I may have to take back my assertion that this was a scam.  After further research, it appears this may be insurance I purchased when I got a new Verizon cellphone.  It showed up on my debit account as TechProtect, which I have never heard of.  In addition, I had two charges for $4.99 on the same day, which doesn't make sense.  Also, I purchased this phone many months ago, however, it appears I am just now being charged for the insurance.  I am still not certain about these debit charges but I don't want to make any false claims against TechProtect.

Jeff:  It wouldn't hurt you to be a little more kind.  However, you are correct.  This is not the place to dispute charges to your account; you need to call your bank for that. This site is for the purpose of identifying possible scams related to a particular phone number.

Today found 2 pending charges for $4.99 on my debit card account which reflected a phone number of 855-309-8345 and a company name of TechProtect.  This is definitely a scam as I have not used this card for months.  Called the bank - they are canceling my debit card and sending new one. Once the payments post to the account, I will have to call the bank again to dispute the charges.

I can't believe that people actually believe that  800notes not only makes all of their unwanted calls but debits their bank accounts too.   This is a Friggin discussion board only,  to discuss unwanted callers....... Contact whomever it was that debited you and contact your bank.

I have had $6.99 debited from my checking account for 6 months.  I assumed it was an additional charge for my automobile ESurance policy.  I am trying to call the compant (ESH*INS) 309-8345 without any luck.  I believe this could be a scam.  I am contacting the Georgia Attorney General's office as well as the local Better Business Bureau.
