I got a nasty vm from a "Private" caller. Stated his name was Steve Rice calling on behalf of County Mutual Claims office about a Civil complaint that was fwrded to them..and he's been trying to serve me with a summons (then mentioned an addy i havent lived at since 2010 w/ the last 4 of my ss#. Stated he's trying to send me SC100 forms and it's attached to my name and ss# and gave me 855-699-6911 to call w/ a case# to prevent further action being filed against me.
..
I tried to run searches on "County Mutual Claims office..but nothing showed up...and the SC100 form is for small claims court for California?  I've never been to CA?  After reading all of the complaints on here...it seems like all of the ph#'s that start with a "855" appears all to be scams...
..
I just tried calling the # and vm stated "You've reached the general mailbox..all associates are busy at the moment and to leave a name & ph#
..
maybe someone should file a complaint about harrasement! It's illegal to make that type of allegations ... I will defntly look into it ! Hope this helps the next person :)

Got a call a couple of weeks ago. ..I always Google the number to see where its from.  I read the posts and thought I'd  call it back and have a little fun.  I got the same story. .I was being sued. . there were charges against me for writing bad checks (on an account that was closed in 2009) and that I was going to be served...yadda yadda. She didn't get nasty until I told her I had Googled the number and if she thought she was getting my credit card number she had another thing coming.  Still waiting on being served. ... the scary part is they had my husband's name, the last 4 of my social, my dob, and my current and previous address.

This company called my job and said that they needed to speak to my supervisor. They told my boss that I needed to contact them that day if I didn't want to be served papers at work. How embarrassing! I thought it was strange that a law enforcement agency would have a toll free number to call back so I googled it. So glad I did!

Ladonna Davis has a complaint and needs to contact a firm handling a file within 48 hours or a decision will be made...I am not Ladonna Davis and I happen to know for a fact the phone number I have has never been owned by another. either a scam or Ladonna is using a fake number. I called the number and it was a machine for "ARG & Associates". Super lame.

Well, they called my parents who barely speaks English and scared the s*** out of them :/I don't have a phone for anyone to contact me. Only by email! :) so when unwanted calls are being tracked down to my parents? I'm pretty pissed  off. One, they told my parents it's a court summon and that I owe $1115.88 ? to who? That's what is like to know. Two, I don't own a credit card. I don't even like using my ATM card. I always walk in and withdraw cash to spend!

Yes lucklily I googled the return number. I'm a very sick woman and don't need anymore stress. So glad I did look up this because its definate a scam. A lady who didn't have my name correct left a voice mail with case number saying the had a complaint on my and pending case that I must call ASAP and before she hung up said good luck. Her name she left was Michelle Marino.

This company called my Grandma's home and told her I was going to jail. She immediately called me so I called the number. Spoke with a Robert Dickerson, who was completely rude. After asking for him to send me proof of the debt I owed he because very disrespectful and even asked me what did My dad do to me when i was younger that made me into an unstable where I can pay my bills. I was soo upset at that point I became very irate. He started yelling out my social security number and my past employers demanding to give him an updated address to send a court summons. After hanging up on him. I called back in and asked for a Manager. At first they wouldnt connect me because I didnt have a case number. Then after being persistant she connected me to Mr. Bueher..After I told him what happened he says..Send me the prrod he talked to you like that, pay your bills or you wont be bothered with us..Mind you, Robert Dickerson could not give me any details in regards to the "alleged" debt. Everytime I asked he stated. I will send you all the information with a court summons unless you pay with a debit or credit card today..Needless to say..I didnt give him any information and each time he asked for me to confirm my address or employment I told him that he should have that information since he knows me soo well. I guess I will wait for my court summons..LOL...BTW..I just got my credit report and it does not reflect the amount of debt he mentioned.

same for me, but I received two calls, one for my son and one for some other woman 35 minutes after the first.
This phone is not in my name, so not sure how they know, I live 3200 miles from my son. Any way, figured it was a scam-definitely if they are citing old bills or non-existent accounts and want a debit or credit card. Report them-and as a debt collector, veiled threats are not allowed so must be out of country.

A Nathan Hamilton left a message about a "complaint" forwarded back to their "office" or "firm" at 8553129923 and to reference file #100-725.  A no name "office" or "firm" which leads to question the validity of the name of the person calling.  The message also expressed the need of calling within 24hrs or they will be forced to make a decision without my consent.

This does not inspire trust to contact or discuss anything with this unknown person/firm.

I just received a call from a "Victoria Brooks" at 951-200-8300. Like the rest of you, I was told to call 855-312-9923 to resolve blah blah and I was given a reference number. I kind of want to call them back just to screw with 'em.

They're trying to scare you into making a payment on a debt that has either been paid already, is completely bogus or is outwith the statute of limitations for collection in your state.  No one gives a heads up when they're going to serve court papers - the court process server just serves the papers (or they are mailed to you via certified mail).  Read about the FDCPA and learn your rights as a consumer.

Bottom line - if they refuse to send you proof that you owe this debt and that they are legally able to claim and collect said debt in your state, do not pay they a dime.  They are legally required to provide you with this information.

No, they're scammers.  No one is given a heads up before being served with court papers.  If they claim you owe something, demand that they send you a debt validation letter (via mail - not email or fax) showing original creditor, amount owed, date of debt/loan, date of last payment, and whether they are licensed and able to claim and collect said debts in your state.

If they refuse to give you paperwork which proves that you owe this debt to them, let them know that you have reported them to the FTC and your state's Attorney General (and do so).  Also tell them that you are recording all calls they make to you to forward to law enforcement (even if you're not).  Read about the FDCPA and learn your rights as a consumer.

Bottom line - if a "collections" agency will not prove you owe a debt, you owe them NOTHING.

I received a call at my job from some Teresa. She gave me a number and a case file.  So I called it and they said that I owed money and that if I did not pay it  now I was going to be served some court papers. They could reduce the balance owed and I could pay it with a debit card or credit card, now  I am scared too pay them as I read your comments, I am wondering if they are for real or a scam.

Just received a call from this same phone number by a blocked number saying a charge was against me and I would be "hauled off" if I didn't call them back with a credit card to pay this charge in full with 24 hours. Received call on my cell phone and work phone. On her message she said her name was "Elizabeth James" but would not give company name.

Same message as everyone else is getting.  Some type of threat that if I don't return the call in 48 hours, they may be able to make a decision without my consent.  It might have helped me believe there was some type of professionalism in the matter if the young woman who called didn't sound like she had a mouth full of toilet paper.  This is nothing I would take seriously, as it doesn't even sound like they really even know who they are calling for or why.

Did that letter have a return address? The readers here could use one so they know where to send a court summons and complaint to spank some lawbreaking collectors.

Whether you are called a debtor or some collector thinks you can flush one out, you have rights and options. Many are simple to exercise if you only learn how. You are granted control of how you are contacted, the right to dispute debt claims, and the means to sue violators at low cost. The FTC and the CFPB can start you on your homework. See also if your state laws grant additional or stronger rights.

Yep, I got the same call.  Total scam.  He couldn't tell me his firm's name nor did he even have my name right.  And no legit company would charge you to remove your name.  Don't fall for it.  Don't give anyone a dime that calls you...EVER!  Always check your facts.  I don't even give them my name or any info about me.  Don't let them scare you into anything.  A***oles need to get a real job.
