Got the call today from these "people" They've been calling everday for 1 month now, so I had enough and called them back today, they tried to say it was because of something with TD, but I don't owe TD anything. I did apply for a credit card 2 months ago, so that probably how they got my phone number. I cant recall anything else I owe, except OSAP loan from the government for college. Thats it. Called them back and told them they had the wrong person and to take me of the list. He replied with "Im taking you off the list" done, and done. No more calls hopefully.

I was tired of getting calls several times a day, sometimes before 7 am. I finally found on my phone when looking at the call logs, a feature that I can reject calls from the number. now when they call it does not ring on my end. but it does show a record of how many times they tried to call. from their end, they get a fast busy so they cant get thru. its not worth talking to these people, because they just upset you and are mean and rude.

When Collection Agency are hired by banks the banks are actually just purchasing the service of harassment. Mainly because banks themselves want to partition themselves from the illegalities of the service. Everyone with a debt dispute should only communicate in writing - never mediate over the phone.

Because collection agencies want to settle for as close to 110% of the debt they will employ harassment as aggressively as possible (which will include calling your family about it). If you write to a Collection Agency they will deny having received your letter.

The (Ontario) Ministry of Consumer Protection supports the practices of Collection Agencies as described above. In 2013 the Ministry removed the recommendation from their website "get everything in writing" to "follow up in writing" (the implication is aggressively different - and entirely different from recommendations provided by the Ministry regarding all other consumer-business interaction).

Unfortunately debtors are actually locked out of resolving their situation due to the above "environment" of harassment and restrictions to resolution...and when they move on their contact information still remains a hunting ground for golf-war style phone bombing.

I would recommend sending a registers letter to the Collection Agency demanding that they stop calling within 24hours of receiving the letter. Further, within the letter you should advise them that you will pursue charges of harassment if they call for any purpose. When they do call you and you are not the party that they are pursuing record the date sand time and any messages left. If the calls are belligerently abundant, walk over the the Small Claims courthouse and pay $75.00 CDN to get your $2,500 harassment claim.

Someone from a company on be half of "Equifax Canada" saying they have some updated information about my phone number, other times they say it is updated information about a credit card attached to my phone number (I don't even own the credit card that is attached to my cell phone). They say to call back at 1-855-326-5195 but I never have picked up and never will. Just let it go to voice mail and then delete the voice mail, they call about once a week. Just don't pick it up!

What happens is when you update your info with the credit reporting company (like Equifax), anyone you you owe $ to gets updated as well, if they're keeping track of you. So even if the debt is old/written off, there are companies trying to make a buck off of collecting old debt. As such, they carefully choose wording to make you think you must pay the debt, in order to have the calls stop.

It's important to realize that these are not collection calls pertaining to a current debt. Again, this is a company trying to make money collecting old written-off debts, so they way they will speak to you, or have an automated message leaving a voicemail, is carefully worded.

The only reason Equifax's name comes up is if you tried using them recently to get your credit, or update your info, even through a third party (like applying for something).

I'm not sure to stop the calls, I know that iphone 5C has a built-in blocked caller feature, if that helps, but I hope the above clarifies something.

I keep getting messages left on the company voicemail. They say they are with Equifax and have important updated information pertaining to the phone number. I went online checked out Equifax and the phone number for them was not the same as the one left on the message. So I Googled the number and find it is for a different company. Somehow this seems very suspicious. I am not sure if they are affiliated in some way but there should be a higher standard for this type of business.

I got a call today from that number.  I answered and I didn't get to speak with a real person, it was a womans voice when I called back.  She said at the beep please leave a message.  The original call was a man and he said that he has called me many times, which was a lie because I have never had  a call from this man.  He said that if I didn't call him back that I would be very sorry.  I'm a disabled 61 year old woman and he has me scared.  I don't even know what he's calling about but perhaps this report will help me.

They called at 9 30 am and left an automated voice message. I called back and the man asked for my phone number then asked for my name and asked me if I knew someone. This someone who had this number prior to me. However I've had this same number for 7 years. The man said he removed my number and apologized. Its a good idea to call in and get it removed.

Got a call from the same company. His names was Mr. Belfour ex2233, as I know my TD bank information is over 5 years  old, and its owed about 3200, as I mentioned to him I can make this 1 lump sum payment, as I feel that I don't have the means to make this payment, then Mr Belfour suggested to me to go bankrupt for this amount. I called back and he advise me that my tone was not in a professional manner that he would call the police on me to have me charged with harassments. this is after 10 phone calls to my cell form 9 am - 12pm where then I decided to call back.   WellI am off to Strafford Police to file a complaint to them on as their address is  Credit Risk Management, 61 Lorne Ave E, PO Box 96, Stn Main  Stratford ON N5A 6S8 .

I have had this particular call about this particular account owned by this woman calling me for the past 4 years.  The last time was 2 years ago when I yelled at the poor fellow who answered my call because I was frustrated with them continuously calling me.  They were calling under a different number then.  Now, her unpaid debts have come back to haunt me in the form of TD themselves actually calling me instead of an outsourced debt collector agency.

Unfortunately J's course of action does not work as much as I would have liked it to.  I tried the ignoring them; they ramped up the phone calls from once a week to almost twice a day until I called them back.  The best you can do is call them back and demand that they remove your phone number from your records.  You'll get some peace for a little bit at least.  I'm completely unsure of how to get your number permanently erased from their records.  If I knew how, I'd have done it already.

I got a new cell phone from Bell Canada. It used to belong to a person chased now by the collecting agency and his bank. Automated phone calls every day. Called the collection agency and told them, that I was not the person expected to call them back. I was told that this wil be fixed - however automated calls never stopped. For the TD automated calls I called them and told them I was not the person they were looking for, and asked them to remove my cell phone from their records. The lady answering the phone promised me to update their records and remove this number from the automated caller. It is an idiotic system and not very efficient one. Next time I call Bell and have them call back, or I will change the number or the phone company. There is nothing else anyone can do in this situation.

Credit Risk Management - on behalf of TD Canada Trust.  I had an old debt to TD 6 years ago when I was going through divorce.  I have checked my credit file, and they wrote it off.

Now after all this time, someone is trying to make some $ from collecting that old debt.  Get a life.

Say it is time sensitive, say they can help, blah blah blah - don't call them.  Just ignore.
