this is a bunch of false crap! I had a "process server" call me first, would not give me her license number, or her name and phone number. she said are you stupid do you not know what a plaintiff is, when I asked what kind of company it was. She was rude and yelling at me. I called this number and I gave the number given to me, she asked if I was so and so, I said what was this about, she would not tell me unless I verified my social, which I did not, then she said well I guess we will send you to court.
This is a ruthless debt collector trying to collect debt outside of the laws and regulations. do not give them any information inregards to your social or dob. They will scam you!!!!!!

This may be a legitimate office but they are all scammers. I received multiple calls from them trying to collect on a debt from 1999 that I am protected under the statute of limitations on. This debt has been off of my credit for many years. I told Ms. Morgan to stop calling me and she screamed that she was sending the sheriff to speak with me. I told her to do that and she got upset and hung up on me. I called her back to get their company address to send them a cease and desist letter and she refused to provide it to me. I then filed a claim with the FTC regarding them. I received notification that the company that also goes by RS Associates is most likely a scam. Any collector that is following the laws of the FDCPA would provide me with their address. Do your research on this company as they just try to extort money from consumers who dont know better.
jo 2012-06-27 19:10:45 Unknown
You probably work for this establishment because they are a scam according to the FTC. They are notorious for buying old debt over the statute of limitations of being able to collect and try to scare you into paying it by telling you that they are sending the sheriff to your home or business to serve you.

Ok so I just got this call from a 714-453-1913 that came up LAWOFFICES on my caller id at home. you can't understand what she is saying very well. They were looking for my husbands ex wife which they stated he is still married to! I laughed at her and said first of all he hasn't been married to her in over 7 years. I asked what this was regarding and she told me its a lawsuit that involves her and that's all she can tell me. But when I asked if it involved my husband she stated well I'm not sure but you can have him call 888-696-4623 with the case number. Are you kidding me? First of all how did they get my number and it be associated with his ex wife? I'm not sure if I should have my husband contact them just to make sure that he has no involvement with this crap. After I got of the phone with them I started looking this up just like everyone else. Some people say it's real while others say it's a scam. I called both numbers and its the same lady answering the phone "Law Offices of R J Salgado how may I help you"
Mom in TX 2012-04-18 19:08:37 Debt Collector
This doesn't necessarily mean that the debt they are contacting you about is legitimate, however, the law firm is legitimate. I received a call today and was immediately skeptical, but after tracing back all of the info they gave me, it was legit (not the amount they quoted me, of course). They provided all of their contact information and the bar # for RJ Salgado, which I then confirmed with the Calafornia Bar Association. I found "Mr Alexander" (I used to work in collections, so I know they don't use their real names anyway) to be pushy but reasonable. I spoke calmly and so did he. I suggest familiarizing yourself with the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act to make sure that they conduct their business w/ you in a legal manner, but I highly recommend calling them back and just confirming the validity of all debts. It might be a pain in the butt, however, if they file a civil suit and win then it's public record AND they can collect through forced legal means - such as liens. Not fun, but it doesn't appear to be a scam.

So I recieved a call at work telling me that there is a civil suit. I went out on the internet just like everyone else dont you think that if you were a real company you would have a web site so people would believe you?

i recieved a VM today to call back a law office at 888 696 4623 because i had a complaint against me i called back to see what they were referring to and rite away sounded suspicious . they answered the phone ??Law office? did not say which law office just answered ??Law office?? i told the man that answered the phone (without telling me who I was speaking with when he answered the phone) that I had called back because someone called saying they were filling a complaint against me. He asked for case number I told him I don?t know a case number you called me telling me that YOU have the complaint not me. I then said that it already sounded shady since he only answered the phone stating LAW OFFICE then he has lawyers and attorneys working in the office. I then asked what company or law firm I was calling he mentioned something like Delgado office is what it sounded like he then placed me on hold and got another man on the phone and asked me again for a case numb I again said they called me stating they had a complaint against me he then pulled up some files and said that he had a debt that closed on 2008 and had files and records stating I told the company he was representing that I would never or will not pay the balance but if his records were wrong and I never said that he would try to update his info and try to see what else he can do. Then I told him I was never contacted by the company he claimed he represented so there was no way for me to say that I told them anything because I was never in contact with them. Then he became rude and said why don?t you just tell that to the judge!? I said wait what?? Didn?t you just say that if you records were wrong you would update them ?? he then started yelling stating no were suing you were taking you to court and were going to get all your mailing address I tried to interrupt and ask him were you not just trying to discuss this issue and say you would update your info if that was wrong? He said no were suing you and just ended the call with well see you in court and hung up I believed he mentioned something about recording the conversation towards the end of the call not sure since he just kept talking fast without explaining anything he was saying. i googled the numb and did not find ANY company's with this numb 888 696 4623 ...but i did find this discussion board which will help now if they try harrassing me again

Consumers across the country report that they're getting telephone calls from people trying to collect on loans the consumers never received or on loans they did receive but for amounts they do not owe. Others are receiving calls from people seeking to recover on loans consumers received but where the creditors never authorized the callers to collect for them. So what's the story?
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:
is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.
Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

So here is my question to you, charged off I exactly that charged off. They can't call and threaten to take you to court, this one guy told me that me that he wuld have my county serve me. Well if bank of america didn't have my county serve me then who is suppose to be.
don 2012-03-08 22:59:32 Unknown
ALWAYS record their calls. Log their calls. Tell them you are recording immediately when you answer the phone. If they object tell them they can end the conversation, otherwise they WILL be recorded. If they are calling the wrong number tell them you will file complaints with their attorney general, your attorney general and the FTC. Demand their physical address to send a certified cease and desist letter. Google it to make sure it is a correct address. Send the letter. If they call again sue them for a FDCPA violation. If they claim you have a debt DEMAND a letter of validation be sent through the MAIL. If the debt is beyond the statute of limitations do not pay it. Research the FDCPA ans sue for each and every violation. You can make a few bucks on their violations of the law. Be civil, but do not let them talk over you. Yell over them if necessary. Remember RECORD their calls :).

i called this people because they left a message on my v/m from a mr sanders, apparently it's a legal company that buys charged off debt from banks like chase, bofa, citi bank. anyway i did owe $3,200 on a citi bank card from 3 years ago that i stopped paying, they offered me a settlement for $800, i paid it and sure enought they did as they promised, they sent me an agreement with the terms of the settlement and they updated my credit as paid in full not just settled, i'm glad i called them. if you're getting calls from this peiple it's because they bought one of your debts that you stopped paying, be a responsible person and take care of your bills. this is what's wrong with us as americans we get a credit card , run up the balance and then stop paying for whatever reason. that's why i'm on a cash only budget. i learned from my mistakes.

These people just called my cell and my place of employment. I threatened to have my legal representation contact them and he said "sure thing, have them do that". Yeah, right. Then when I requested they remove me from their calling list he became very angry and started yelling at me. I told him that he should "Google" who he is claiming to represent and acted as if he didn't know what "Google" was. I then hung up on him.

Some prick has to be distributing my number around to these herpes of society. I re-submitted my name to the Do Not Call List a couple of months ago but the calls haven't stopped, though they have become fewer. Used to be up to 10 or more a day.
On this call someone calling themselves Mr. Williams(?) said to call back on an important legal matter. Being a good, law abiding citizen ( just a few fractures here and there!) I highly doubted it as I haven't been caught in a long time. ;>) Just kidding...or am I? LOL! Anyhoo, this is really annoying, especially after re-registering on the DNC List and giving it the requested 31 days to get distributed.
Does anyone else have the same suspicion as I do that some of these companies are using the DNC List as a source for numbers to call?
Everyone should pester their DC representatives and senators to give the DNC List some punitive authority. I say 50 lashes in the town square when they catch one of these pricks and a $50.00 compensation for each call to each complaining victim of the calls. OK, OK..a hundred lashes so we're not seen as being soft on such ill mannered and criminal behaviors. Am I serious? Hell Yeah!
