i got a call and they left a message saying they tried to serve papers and didn't find me.  They left a number but i didnt call back after reading all the information on here and other places.  They have been calling other people who know me as well and harrassing them even daily. I truly do believe they are scammers!!!  The courts or attorneys offices dont call to ask when they can come serve you not here in the US. A processor is not going to call either because they wont get paid.  This is a joke  BEWARE !!!

Got a call from this # today @ home.. something about documentation, the clerk's office...blah-blah-blah made out to my name.  Funny, but I got the exact.same.message on my cell phone AND home phone on Wed but the return # was diff (855 851 6695) & the man who called Wed left msgs for my HUSBAND'S EX WIFE.  How they got her name on my cell is beyond me; or our home, since the home # is in my name as well.

Freaks.

I received a call from them stating they were going to serve me papers at the clerks office.  I asked what county and they couldn't even tell me.  Then said I had already missed a court date.  Yea right.  No one have even brought me any papers.  Called 3 different times and was told the name of the company was 3 different ones.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

My sister received a call from these clowns this morning at her work. She has never been used as a reference and her work number is private. We have different names as well. At any rate she was freaked out as they left a message at her work saying they were with the clerks office etc and a lawsuit was needing to be served. I laughed as it didn't sound right at all but she was pretty concerned and woke me up early this morning to tell me via text message.

There are many morons out there trying everything. I had a debt collect trying to collect on a 4.11 cent item from direct tv from 1994. These guys are desperate to get money.

Received a call from a blocked call. They left a message asking to call this number 855-332-2413. I called and asked the man if this was a call to collect debt. He said "possibly", and would not release the company's name. The voicemail that was left was threatening to serve me. Very strange.

I got a call from the same people. It appears to me this organization trying to collect on expired debt. It is common for these unscrupulous collection agents to use scare tactic designed to frighten you into settling the debt. Often they will make wild claims, such as claims of arrest or lawsuit. Don?t fall for it, fact is that according to California Code of Civil Procedure § 337(1), the statute of limitations for a written contract (Credit Card Default) is four years. Tell the collection agent up front that if they file a lawsuit against you that you will file a motion to dismiss based on the statute of limitations defense.

I just got a call from this number. They wanted to verify address so they can serve papers. Stated if no return call in 24 hours, will assume address is valid and papers will be served. As far as I know, no process server will ever tell you in advance that they are coming.  Received this on my house phone and my cell phone. Am not about to give them anything.  I know it's a scam, and I am not falling for it.
I saved the cell phone message for the authorities.

I received a call this morning from a private number . A woman left a msg stating she was calling from the "clerks office" . She left an "in office file number" and the phone number 855.332.2413. She stated that if I did not return the phone call they would be forced to proceed with further action to my address and place of verified employment . Instead of calling them back I phoned the FTC instead and filed my own action agianst them .Nice try Jokers !!!

I got a block number call.  They verified my name and said someone will serve court doc paper today at my old address.  Which was very odd.  They said call this 855-3332-2413 and provide the court doc #.  I can smell this was b***s***...I didn't call.   I will report this to the FTC and my district Attorney.

Please do report the caller to the FTC, FBI, Dept of Justice and your state's Attorney General.  You'll find that if you call your local courts, that the "document number" is not a valid number, and your name is not on any docket.

Also, if the callers were legitimate, they wouldn't need you to verify your address - they'd already have it.  If they were going to file a lawsuit against you, they wouldn't call you and tell you either - you'd receive a court summons either via court process server (who does NOT call ahead of time), or via certified or registered mail.  (And, I have to add, if they were legitimate, you would have received dunning letters for some time referencing the alleged debt.)

Never pay any debt unless the caller mails proof that you do owe this debt and that they have the legal right to collect said debt.  Refusal to mail proof of debt is yet another violation of the FDCPA.

I got a call on my voicemail from an unknown number telling me to confirm my address and that if I didnt call back and confirm my address to 855-332-2413, information would be filed with "the clerk's office." They gave me a document control number too...

I'm a bit freaked that they had my name and number but not freaked enough or stupid enough to call back and give them my address. I have no collections nor have I ever been involved with a situation with anyone serving me.

Nice try, but no cigar.  No one should ever pay a caller just because they say they're collecting a debt - you ALWAYS make them mail proof that the debt is yours and that they actually have the legal right to collect said debt.  You don't pay just because it "sounded right."  Oh, and even if the debt was legitimate, your credit score doesn't go "up some" after paying it - it takes months before your score would improve.  Having said that, you still come across as a company shill.

All these people getting calls from some outfit who consistently violate the FDCPA, who refuse to mail proof - as required by the FDCPA - for debts they NEVER incurred - and you say they're "legit".  Maybe in your own mind, since obviously you must work for them.  Reported for being a company shill.

The poster means they "said" they were RD & Associates - however, that doesn't mean that there actually IS an RD & Associates or that they're calling FROM that company.  Many scammers "spoof" numbers and say they're calling from this company or that, when in actual fact, they're not.

Wrong - you NEVER get a heads up you'll be served, and they can only serve the papers to you.  "Whoever accepts the papers will have to appear with me."  Nope, that's not how the legal system works here in the US.  Trust me, if they were legitimate and were going to serve papers, they'd already HAVE your address and would have served those papers.

Report the callers to the FTC, FBI, Dept of Justice and your state's Attorney General.  NEVER pay money to any caller who refuses to mail proof that you owe a debt and that they have the legal right to collect said debt.  It is a violation of the FDCPA (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act) to refuse to mail this documentation.
