Basically the same scenario as above except I received a call regarding my niece. Some of my relatives received the call too. A "Jessica Williams" from "Revenue Recovery" left a message on my cell phone; niece in serious legal trouble, legal documents, need to return the call immediately and provided a recovery ID number and phone #855-623-3530. Female caller (Jessica) had an issue pronouncing some words and totally botched my niece's name. After listing to the message, I noticed my caller ID had "Unknown" which is suspicious if legitimate company. Before returning the call, I located numerous complaints on the internet regarding this phone number and similar circumstances. Of course when I called the number, no answer. Definitely seems to be a scam to steal your money, not about money actually owed: Fake Debt Collectors (http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0258-fake-debt-collectors). Never provide private information to people who call you.

Received a vm from a Jessica Williams, calling from a restricted phone number. She left a message on my cell phone (which is an unlisted number!) I have no idea how they obtained this private number.  She stated that she was calling from "Recovery Revenue" and provided me with a case number and a phone number with an extension to call back. If I didn't call, she would  establish me as a failure to contact and I will be served. I found this vm to be very odd, as I have NO loans that are in collections or even near collections! I have pristine credit. I called back and asked what this was about and she said she couldn't tell me until I provided her with my SSN! I told her not happening. She started screaming that she would just file with the court then. I told her she was welcome to file anything she wanted and that she could speak with my attorney at any time. She refused to provide me with the company name and/or address. When I called back after hours, it went to a vm for "BDS Tech".. not REVENUE RECOVERY... as she stated. She also called my sister and my father's phones attempting to contact me.

I am in NV.

I received a call from Jennifer today at my job. I have asked her before not to call this number because it is a work number. She said I didn't have to worry about it because this is the last time of trying to contact me regarding this. If I didn't call by 5 pm today they were going to procede to file with the county court and proceed with legal actions. She told me it's for a payday loan from 11/05/2010. I asked what county she was taking me to court in and she said the county you live in. I said ok well what town are you in? She said Texas....I said What Townnnnn? She said Brazola. I know she is full of crap because she was trying to say the name of the town I lived in at the time and didn't have it correct. I asked her the attorney's name and she said Jeffery Truman and I informed her that there is no attorney in the entire county much less my town by that name. She said call by 5 pm or you will be in court and hung up. What a joke? Oh and it's for $300 and they will make a settlement but if I don't call and settle by 5 today and I go to court it will triple in costs. Ummm they need to know their laws. First the debt is for my ex husband so I am not paying it. Second, Texas is a no debt state. They can't take me to court for anything....small claims so their tactics don't scare me. Like someone said above...I have never known someone to call and warn me they are coming to serve me or pick me up LOL.

Correction: the number was 855 373-6925. But the point was that these numbers will try to CHARGE YOU for the call.

I received a call from this same number in May of 2012 and they said they were a promotions company representing Directv. They had an amazing offer. When I called Directv's billing number they had never heard of this company EMP and had no knowledge of this great deal. Upon further investigation, I found that this "company" uses the area code 855 and when you answer the call YOU get charged for the call. They try to keep you on the phone as long as possible so the charge is greater. Don't know if they profit from this but they must be getting something, otherwise, why would they be doing this?

Wow, I am glad I googled this number.  I was concerned when I recieved the call, it seemed very threatning...same information as above.  Austin Rivers left a message, and said he was calling from a private processing position - didn't sound like a company name.  Same 2 hour window, uniformed officer...they only called once, however they said they would make 3 attempts.  After reading these comments I may call them back and ask about the scam :-)

Message left for John Johnson (doesn't live there) about attempts to contact, then warrant for arrest.  When I called back from a different number they couldn't put me through to "Cory Mills"  who supposedly called me and left the message.  I wouldn't give them my name or home number and they couldn't function.  Cory Mills apparently doesn't really work there or is one of many alias they leave.  They certainly didn't seem professional or credible.

These clowns called my 10 year old niece's teacher on his cell phone.  She overheard him repeat her mother's name and he gave her the phone.  My niece gave him (Robert Soto) her mom's number and he called her with the "script".

This happened three days ago.  I called the number they left (855-674-1293) and of course she had never heard of Robert, she was only the receptionist.  The person I needed to speak with was in a meeting.  If I would leave a phone number, she would be happy to have hin call me back.  Yeah, right.

I cannot believe the gall of them calling the teacher.  Times must be getting tough, even for scamsters.

Wow! The H.R. Representative at my work called me this morning explaining that I needed to call the 855-373-6858 number back immediately or I would be served (and embarrassed).  I had recieved a few voicemails earlier in the week, but never responded because I expected it to be nonsense.  However, when they called my superiors, I was heated and returned the call. I told the guy (Kristin wasn't in - the person who I was supposed to request) to stop calling my work and that I would not give them any personal information or money.  I told him that I am at work and that he can come right now to summons me.  He replied, "OK, we will let your county department know"...His dumb a** didn't even know which county I lived in! I also filed a complaint on the BBB but the business already has an F rating, so I doubt that will do much.

Everyone, I strongly encourage you to check this out:
http://ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre18.shtm
It's the FTC's FAQ's about debt collection - what's legal, what isn't. What this company is doing is NOT legal. Threats of arrest and constant lawsuit threats are NOT legal. They can be sued. Try to get what information you can from them.

I got the same fake call. Three times so far. Last time they said "I'll give you a two-hour window to call back before sending the officer out"

BS.

The caller said he was Chris McKenna. He was trying to reach a person I've never heard of (not me...or anyone that has ever worked for me)

For reference, my vicinity is somewhere in "The Middle of California".

They've been harassing me since September... exact same story, and they've given me two different numbers (neither of them being the 855 number). But, same story - they identify as the Private Processing Division, say something about serving me a legal summons. I've been hanging up after the first time they called and I checked them out online. But yesterday, they took it a step further and contacted my brother. They said if I didn't reply, there would be a warrant. I just got done reporting to the state AG as well as the FTC... and I will be ripping them a new one when I hear again.

Yup, got this call this morning--in my voice mail no less!  From Matt Price.  1st, they don't identify the company they work for, which, if this was legit would be a legal must. 2nd, yeah, like everyone said, they don't call you to warn you if you're actually going to be served. They just do it.
Verbage was exactly the same  "This is Matt Price calling to inform you....to schedule a time for a uniformed officer and a process server....2 hour window....case #"  all the same.
I didn't freak out or get worried, because I used to be a collector, I know the laws and I know how stupid it is NOT to follow them.  I was curious about who it really was, though, so I googled the # and came up with this site! :D

Don't even bother calling these clowns back.

hey.. so my mom got this call yesterday, and since she doesnt speak much english she gave me the phone, the guy said he was from lincoln legal division or something like that and said my mom owed money for an unpaid credit card from 2007-2008. we were both kinda freaking out at the time so i believed the guy when he was talking to me.. but after a while to think about it.. it seemed pretty shady considering how he was trying to settle for $700 when the debt he claimed my mom owed was $1000.. so im just trying to make sure this is a scam and not a real thing cause i dont want my mom to get into trouble with the law or anything

You will not be served.  Ive been threatened at least 50 times (as I stated in a lower down post) with being served and it hasnt happened yet.  When you are truly served, no one calls you to warn you and "try to settle".  These scammers cant take you to court because their tactics are illegal.  Just ignore it.  It usually takes about 2 months for them to disappear.  You can change your phone number in the mean time if possible to make them disappear immediately.  Also if you have any good information on who they are, report them to the FTC, and your states attorney general.
