I attempted to assess an old .hotmail account that I had not used for years, for the sake of being able to send a larger file,  Hotmail informed me that I could not log in due to "numerous password attempts" - My account had been hacked.   Immediately, they closed the account.  In an attempt to rectify this, I searched online for MSN hotmail blocked" The first thing that came up was a website (posing as Microsoft) I assumed to be Microsoft.  I called the number 1-855-383-7242 and after giving Nathan/Alex some  information., NATHAN came back and told me that my account had been compromised "many times".  Nathan then asked for other information (phone number etc) and asked me to sign onto Logmein123.com which I did.  He claimed that MS used this 3rd party website for their email tech issues.  It did not feel right but Nathan assured me that this was legit.  He accessed my pc and in the pit of my stomach I knew something was wrong.  He stressed to me that I should not hit the X which would close out the program.  I hit the x, shut down my pc and nothing has been the same since!  I purchased Malware Bytes and in the meantime, my .MSN account (primary email account) has disappeared from my Ooutlook and it shows that hotmail is accessing my account info.  Too stressed to talk about it but - suffice to say, my life changed by calling this number!!!!!!!!  PC is off and I anticipate major changes tomorrow. I called Nathan back this evening after my pc experienced major issues and he now claims that they are NOT part of Microsoft!  May justice find it's way to this group of liars and hackers - DO NOT CALL THIS NUMBER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was looking for tech support for my Hotmail account and a tech number was in the right margin for hotmail.  I called trustingly because I've been with Hotmail for about 12 years now.  They told me too, that I had been hacked or compromised and that they could help me.  I gave them access to my computer via the internet and they showed me a bogus window where supposedly main hackers have been accessing my data.  They got me to give them my name, address and phone # (for security reasons) and there would be a $250.00 charge for their protective software.  I realized at this point that it was a scam and I started to get angry and ask questions that they didn't like.  They hung up on me.  I have since contacted Kaspersky, my internet security and they ran a diagnosis of my computer. All is okay, but these guys prey on you because you think you're dealing with hotmail and you are not.  Shame on Hotmail for letting this to continue.  I'm contacting the BBB and reporting this incident.  Beware of these a-holes!

I called Windstream and told them about my delimna.  They have Tech Support for $12.99 a month and you have to keep it for 6 months.  I figured that was cheaper than taking it in for a one time fix.  If I ever have other problems, they will help.  They came into my computer and cleaned it out....took 1 1/2 hours.  I hope they got everything..It seems to be working ok now.

I have been googling solutions to my problem over the internet sinceI was hacked or hijacked.  I have tightened my security, ran Malwarebytes, Advanced System Care6 and AVG, ran a system restore in safe mode, and changed all passwords, including my router.  Is there any way to check if there is any malware on my computer that the programs did not detect?  I really hate to start over, but if that is what it takes.....I don't know how to do that but maybe it isn't too hard?  Is there an easy way to do it?   I ran a system back up in 2010....could I install  that?  How about backing up with Carbonite and then how would I wipe clean and reinstall?   Thanks in advance.  I read a site that made me think it isn't as bad as it could be?

Margaret,  it might be wise to do a complete recovery and reinstallation of your operating system on your hard drive.  This will wipe out anything that didn't come with the computer when you bought it.  Be sure and back all of your important files first.   If you are not comfortable in doing this,  contact a friend or someone who knows how.  good luck.

I forgot to mention that I gave access to my computer when I called the 1st number.  They had me go to www.ammyy.com and download (Dumb move on my part).   I was locked out of Hotmail and a program keeps wanting access to my computer.  I disconnected it from the internet.  I booted up in safe mode and did a system recover to a date prior to the incident.  Then I restarted and ran Malwarybytes (Free Program) and Advance Care System that I purchased earlier.   I am going to only use FireFox from now on and not Internet Explorer as I think it is safer.  I hope this cleared out all the bugys, but still not certain.

These are both Bogus Numbers.

I called this number after being hacked by calling 1-888-263-2762,  The number 1-855-383-7242 was to report the 1st bogus number.  After speaking with the rep a few minutes, he said the 1st # was not legit and I was hacked but he could help me.  He would need my year of birth and acess to my computer.  Told him I would not provide any info or allow him on my computer.  He hung up.

They're hard for our government to do anything with because they are located in other countries.  Some say India, pakistan,  ukraine, etc.  I would imagine that the issue isn't big enough with our government to have to deal with other governments.  who knows....

Debt Collector
Jan 13, 2013, found their phone number on the net searching for help with MSN technical support. Same as you guys, but didn't pay at the last minute, lucky I wanted to check on the net for their company information: Itechacharya...
How come such companies can run that long without being shut down???
Guys, have you got problems after they took hold of your PC for presumably sanity checks?

Total scam.  They pretend to be tech service and say they will charge you between 199.99 and 599.99 for services.  I fell for their pitch about hackers on my computer, when they are in fact likely hackers.  I let them run a program on my computer (dumb!).  They claimed I had hackers and could sell me protection... I hung up, but am not certain if they took any important information during that program run... beware!
