I just got that call half an hour ago.
Steve Gordon, and Justin Sanders. (I'll eat my hat if they weren't Habeb and Rajis .)
Totally pushy then mean. They gave me my address name and zip code.
That just freaked me out. So I asked for physical location . Off shore, was the reply.
They told me if I didn't follow their instructions they would pull the plug on me and I would entirely loose all my data.
Do not under any circumstances follow these asshats instructions.
I have no idea what they are up to but it isn't good. I'm filing a report with law enforcement tomorrow. Maybe even HLS . Make them work a little for their money.
I'm calling it fraud.
P.S. I'm still online.

Alex called from 1-855-384-9273 and said that he was from Tech help line for Microsoft.  He wanted me to turn on my computer.   He said that every time I use the computer information is stored on my hard drive.    Well, duh.   I informed Alex that this sounds like a scam and that my husband is certified in numerous CISCO fields so we are pretty computer literate.  Then stupid Alex wanted to talk to my husband.   Good thing my husband wasn't home.   By the way, he was very rude.   Not even a good scam artist !

Got a call from 'Sam' with a thick Indian accent yesterday (6/26) at 8:56pm.  He said he was with IT and asked about my computer.  Oh really?!?! This clearly didn't pass the smell test, so I asked for a callback number in case we were disconnected.  Was given this number 855-384-9273. I jotted it down and will also be posting on donotcall.gov.  However, I have no idea if this is the actual number that was calling since the Called ID only shows 'Unavailable'.  What is the most irrirating is these scammers are calling and have the ability to have their number as private, so there is really no recourse here.  The only way to help prevent it to post your experience and hope it will catch up with them at some point....

Just got called from private number, tech help for computer asked me to get in front of it. Asked him whether he was just a good samaritan (didn't understand what I was saying) then when asked to provide a number for call back, he gave 1-855-384-9273 and said his name was Brian Scott (with one of the thickest Indian accents on the planet). Beware!

I got a call from man with thick accent.  Said my computer was sending error messages and they were messing with the function of my computer.  He said they were a tech help line.  He asked for me to get in front of my computer so he could show me my error messages.  Completely odd conversation.  I did not get in front of my computer.  I asked for a phone number and he gave 1-855-384-9273 and have name of Rick Gordon. He told me to call back and ask for him.  It is scary to think that this number could be calling so many people and not be legit and allowed to do this.  Can't we get them to stop.  Where do they get our number anyway?

Claim to be from Microsoft/Windows.  SCAM Have asked him every time he calls to stop. This time I told him I'm reporting him to the police and he just laughed.

Got a call from somebody with a strong accent ( Indian?)...I was asked if I had a computer and if I was in front of it.... I said yes I had one, but I was involved in something and could not go to it...I asked what was the purpose of the call and how my number was obtained.  I was told my phone number was associated with my registration of Microsoft  and there was error messages emitted by my computer... And I needed to go to my computer while staying on the phone and I will get some help solving the problem. I asked for a number to call back  and was given 855-384-9273. The person asked me to give a  time when I would call back...I began to be suspicious and asked what was the name and the location of the company..I was told it was I T...The tech department help line, specialized in help with microsoft. I asked if this would cost me anything, and I was told that it was a free service. I then asked what was the incentive of the company I.T to help me if it was a free service...There was some hesitation and I could detect also some frustration....I went on to decline any service and asked that my number would be removed from the calling list.
This is not the first time I receive a call of this nature but usually the caller hangs up when I ask for a phone number.

Hello,
Woman calls me. Thick Indian or Pakistani accent and talks to me in a rushed urgent voice that my computer was at risk and they were a tech line who called to handle these type of things. I am not really buying this whole thing so she hands me over to a supervisor who magically gets on the phone. How many supervises are that fast? So I listen to him. 'We have a lot of error messages coming from your computer and it will hurt your computer and it can all be handle off line. Well, anything done offline can be programmed to attack you when your online next time. First they send me to Eventvwr, then he wants to show me the large number of error reports on my computer and is nutty about me not touching anything in that file. By in large tech guys are dead from the neck up, emotionally detached characters  and don't get excited over anything and this guy was trying to scare me. Then he has me inter iexplore www.ammyy.com\aa_v3.exe I'm not entering an exe anything without my own tech guy there to say yes or no. I told the man I'd call him tomorrow after my tech man takes a look at it and asked for a telephone number to call him back and it was 855-384-9273! And I look it up to find I am not the only one they are scamming! Let me know if either of you recently joined or bought something on Etsy???

A man named Michael called my mother's home phone # and asked her to get on her computer and he would tell her what to do.  My 88 yr old mother is totally computer illiterate and had trouble understanding his heavy Indian accent. She asked him for his phone # and said one of her children would call back.  I googled the number he gave (1-855-384-9273).  Sounded like some sort of scam and this site confirms it.

I got a call from 985-825-5016. The caller ID showed it was from Lousianna. The man on the phone with an Indian accent said that he was from "Tech Support" and that my windows computer was generating error messages. He was calling to fix. I decided to play along. He told me to go to my computer and open the RUN function. I pretended to do so and played along. Then he told me to enter some instructions that seemed to be allowing him remote access to my computer. Eventually I told him that my internet had gone down. I asked for a call back number and he gave me 855-384-9273.  He said it was a toll free number back to him. I looked up that number and it too was linked to these same people with the same scam.

Received unsolicited call today from 855-384-9273 stating that they were calling to offer support due to recent microsoft windows issues reported by our home computer.  I asked for their phone number and they gave me this number.  They then asked me if i was in front of my computer.  I told them yes and then asked how much this would cost me.  The man (sounded like he was from India) told me that he was calling to offer me assistance so that I will know how to fix issues.  I told him thank you and hung up.

Today a foreign guy calls me from that  1855 384 9273, email support@asktech.asktechelpline.com.  He says are you the one having trouble with your comp, "I replied "Yes" Put the computer in front of you, those dudes were controlling my computer like they were on it.
He walks me through stuff for one hour and then proceeds to tell me that it will be $179,00, I said for what, I spent half the time deciphering your English. I don't have that kind of money, I am divorced and disabled. So he says oh to bad, very sorry, 99 dollars a year for your protection blah blah Believe me I am a street mother and they were smooth, and like a jerk gave them my credit card. Called Mastercharge and put a halt, they never got to it yet, After reading this site, canceling my credit card tom. Like what the heck al I do is play on the comp. no serious stuff, thank God/

http://www.microsoft.com/security/online-privacy/avoid-phone-scams.aspx

Cybercriminals don't just send fraudulent email messages and set up fake websites. They might also call you on the telephone and claim to be from Microsoft. They might offer to help solve your computer problems or sell you a software license. Once they have access to your computer, they can do the following:

Trick you into installing malicious software that could capture sensitive data, such as online banking user names and passwords. They might also then charge you to remove this software.

Take control of your computer remotely and adjust settings to leave your computer vulnerable.

Request credit card information so they can bill you for phony services.

Direct you to fraudulent websites and ask you to enter credit card and other personal or financial information there.

Neither Microsoft nor our partners make unsolicited phone calls (also known as cold calls) to charge you for computer security or software fixes.

Telephone tech support scams: What you need to know
Cybercriminals often use publicly available phone directories so they might know your name and other personal information when they call you. They might even guess what operating system you're using.

Once they've gained your trust, they might ask for your user name and password or ask you to go to a website to install software that will let them access your computer to fix it. Once you do this, your computer and your personal information is vulnerable.

Do not trust unsolicited calls. Do not provide any personal information.

Here are some of the organizations that cybercriminals claim to be from:

Windows Helpdesk

Windows Service Center

Microsoft Tech Support

Microsoft Support

Windows Technical Department Support Group

Microsoft Research and Development Team (Microsoft R & D Team)

How to protect yourself from telephone tech support scams
If someone claiming to be from Microsoft tech support calls you:

Do not purchase any software or services.

Ask if there is a fee or subscription associated with the "service." If there is, hang up.

Never give control of your computer to a third party unless you can confirm that it is a legitimate representative of a computer support team with whom you are already a customer.

Take the caller's information down and immediately report it to your local authorities.

Never provide your credit card or financial information to someone claiming to be from Microsoft tech support.

What to do if you already gave information to a tech support person
If you think that you might have downloaded malware from a phone tech support scam website or allowed a cybercriminal to access your computer, take these steps:

Change your computer's password, change the password on your main email account, and change the password for any financial accounts, especially your bank and credit card.

Scan your computer with the Microsoft Safety Scanner to find out if you have malware installed on your computer.

Install Microsoft Security Essentials. (Microsoft Security Essentials is a free program. If someone calls you to install this product and then charge you for it, this is also a scam.)

Note: In Windows 8, Windows Defender replaces Microsoft Security Essentials. Windows Defender runs in the background and notifies you when you need to take specific action. However, you can use it anytime to scan for malware if your computer isn?t working properly or you clicked a suspicious link online or in an email message.

Will Microsoft ever call me?
There are some cases where Microsoft will work with your Internet service provider and call you to fix a malware-infected computer?such as during the recent cleanup effort begun in our botnet takedown actions. These calls will be made by someone with whom you can verify you already are a customer. You will never receive a legitimate call from Microsoft or our partners to charge you for computer fixes.

A friend just called and he had received a call from 855-384-9273 from a man who identified himself as Paul Lockhart.  He also told my friend that his computer was generating error messages.  My friend allowed this man access to his computer, and a repair program was started, with instructions to not interupt this.  Lockhart said he'd call back at 11:00 A.M. Monday morning
I advised my friend to turn off his computer and unplug it from the internet connection.  Unknown yet if any personal security information has been compromised.
