This guy who identified himself as Mike Riley, probably not his real name, called my work stating that he work. told my co worker that I was in legal trouble and was calling to inform me that I would be served at work a summons for either a possible legal suit. He threatened to send a sheriff. When I got on the phone and spoke to him he gave this number 855-405-7943 and a reference number. At that point I advised him I would be calling my lawyer to handle it and he abruptly hung up. This is a scam and somehow they got my work info an was able to call my work.

I had someone tell they were a lawyer and my case came across their desk. I asked for their name and asked for some kind of verification and they hung up on me.

Just got a call from some rude individual speaking something about the sheriff's department and documents. This seems to be the second company calling me and sprouting the same old bullcrap! I called in and spoke with some claims litigation department.
So to those that didn't call in, it is a debt collection law office. :(
On the bright side, Luckily paying them off has stopped the calls and I now have a "release of liability" to prove I payed it off. (I only put that in quotations because the guy told me to write that down)
I will say one thing, as rude as the first guy was, the person I called into was actually pretty understanding. (I've totally had the a***oles in regards to collecting on this account) All in all, feels good to finally be done with that debt.

Received a call from a woman stated that I need to call and speak with the litigator in regard to a debt that I owe. She did not leave the name of the company, only a telephone number with a threating message. She stated my first and last name and told me that a file had just come across her desk and need to act fast, so call this 855 number to verifly my address so that the processer server can give me my paper at my work or home. She went on to say (my name) you have been noticed and Good Luck to me.
I"m guessing she wanted me to get scared and call them right back to see what this was all about. Well common sense told me that I you knew my telephone #, than you should know my address. Usually lawsuit come in letter instead of phone calls.
I am an advocate researcher and for some reason I could not find this number on the internet and of course since she didn't leave a company name, I am unable to look it up that way.
What do I do?
