There are several types of companies/organizations that are allowed to call you, even if you are registered on the Do Not Call list. One of them is a company you have an existing relationship with, such as your bank, phone or cable provider. And, I think even if you have recently ended your relationship with that company, they can call you up to 18 months later. So, unless you have never had anything to do with the Bank of Montreal, they are within their rights to call you. If you have never done business with them, you should report the calls to the CRTC, or if that has changed, go to the Do Not Call registry site and find out how to report these calls.

I just got a call from 855-420-3240.  I google calls like this as the phone is ringing.  We have family members who are currently travelling in another continent.  So if I see that the incoming number shows up on this or another "annoying call" website, I do not answer.

This company calls everyday.  I don't answer unknown  names but gave in and picked up the phone.  The company is Equinox calling on behalf of BMO.  We are on a do not call list. What a waste of time.we still get this type of calls.

Just called back this number and got BMO to find out they called about an insurance. I requested that they remove my # from their list, which they will do but it takes 30 days

I have never, nor anyone in my home, have ever done business with CIBC nor BMO so if the have my # it didn't come from these companies. No banking, no insurance, no credit cards. Zilch. So if they have my # they did not come by it from these banks and must not be legit. Whether they are contracted by a bank or fraud, it is a spam call and not worth answering---ever.

The following call was received from -- can't remember the company, but they said they were but said they were calling on behalf of CIBC to sell identity theft insurance.  I declined.

Strange number. I got a call on Jan 27, 2014. No message left, but like most I have added their number to my reject list. If it is BMO, and I am not convinced they are, BMO should pull their contract, because these guys are not nice.

I received a phone call from 855-420-3240.  My phone is listed on the DO NOT CALL listing..   I should mention it is on ALL the do not call lists.  I take great offence that anyone would call me regarding Equinox BMO..    

Wants to verify my BMO card number's security PIN and my birthday, but can't tell me what my address is "because they don't know if I am the real-actual customer that I represented I am".  Funny that how they can turn the table on you worrying I am the fraud. I hang him up..

Got numerous calls from this number at home over the past month when I was at work. Leave no message and is a toll free number from the USA. I work for BMO and after further investigation I confirmed that they are a third party telemarketer called Equinox located in Dorval QC that have been given a mandate to sell insurance on behalf of BMO. Now how brilliant is that? They are trying to sell me life insurance when I already have life insurance with another company as part of my benefits program with BMO. Brilliant, very brilliant. Shish, give me a break from this nonsense. Seems like it will now take 30 days to remove me from their call list further to my request. Brilliant very brilliant Dohh!

I have been getting calls from this number 2-3- times a day for the past month. I don't answer calls when I don't know who is calling as the number shows up as UNKNOWN. Finally gave in and called the number which confirmed that they are a third party telemarketing firm called Equinox located in Dorval QC. They pick up the phone saying that they are BMO and after further questioning they confirmed that they have been given a contract to sell insurance products on behalf of BMO. This being the time of the year when my phone is constantly ringing with telemarketers of all types, some legit and some not. I called BMO life insurance marketing department which confirmed that they have given this 3rd party telemarketer a mandate to sell insurance on their behalf. Now this company was given my personal information without my consent and they are not following the CRTC rules as far displaying their name and being clear as to who they are and the reason for the call. All calls just hang up if I don't pick it up. Therefore I am quite upset with BMO to have provided these people with my personal information and God knows what else they have on file for me. Anyway, if they call you 1- You should be a BMO group of company's client for them to call 2- If not they are breaching further CRTC rules 3- If they don't display their name they are in further breach. I asked to be placed on their no call list and was told that it will take 30 days???
Takes 2 minutes to close all my accounts with this Bank. Go figure???

This is a scam, don't answer and report the number to the authorities. The number that calls is just to confirm your number is active and sends it on to other numbers that will call you indefinately.

This is not Master card or whatever they pretend to be. They are Pishing for info. Hang up and report them to the authorities.
The more reports they get the better you will be. These people are unfortunately a Cancer on the phones and Internet to try and get your MONEY!

this number calls my  brand new cell # 2 or 3 times a day---no msg ever left.

they called my house several times over the past few days, the last time they called I picked it up, and they were asking for my husband, who's been dead nearly a year and a half...in the most hostile voice I could muster (without crying) I told them he was dead and hung up the phone

Don't answer this number they are pishing for your credit card# etc. They may represent themselves as BMO master card. Got way too many calls from these fraud artists. Unknown from master card and filed many complaints with CRTC no call list, local police, and Bmo Master card

The number is a scam as far as I am concerned. They ask for a person by name, but don't say who they are. I asked and they said Bank of Montreal. I called my bank to advise of the call. Will talk to bank tomorrow, but this has happened in the past  and it is not legitimate. DO NOT speak with them..report the call to the bank if that is who they claim to be.

same here - BMO trying to peddle Equinox Insurance! (At 715 pm already!)- call not solicited by me - why do we have to put up with these whackos?  Maybe the phone co. is making hay off them - but we should not have to suffer their unwanted calls  at any point in time!

I was asked to fax a money gram receipt for purchase. Thank God I did my research because it's a scam for a Laura Britton.

Telephone rang three times.  I did not answer because it was a toll free number.  They did not leave a message.

I would suggest calling your local authorities. They can verify whether there is a warrant out for you or not.

I got a message on my voicemail from this number from a guy the other day who said he was investigating me and I was verified through my SSN and there was a petition out against me and that i would be in violation ofstate and federal law when I havent done anything wrong. I noticed I've been getting a lot of calls like this since the shutdown who can I call to verify if this is real or a scam
