Have gotten this call 2-3 times a day.Picked up once and they said they where in Ohio. Wanted     me to mail out post cards.

Tired of all these 800 calls & message left!

Started getting calls from this number last week. I have not answered but based on here it sounds like it's the LLS yet again. At one time I had 11 different numbers calling from their "hired help" to ask for donations. I filled out the form to be removed and they still called. I wrote their CEO and he responded with a "so sorry" but the calls still go on. This is a charity that I will never give to since they never listen to me!

This is what caller ID was designed for....one look at this number and I go back to whatever I was doing.  Four rings and they are gone.  Don't know what put me on their "to do" list but they are on my "never, ever, EVER,, gonna answer your call" list!  Thanks for this site btw!

Called 7/13/2013 @ 1:39 P.M.; didn't pick up my phone, and they left no message.

I am so SICK of the LLS calling my home through these stupid 855 phone numbers. If I wanted to donate, I'd have done so DIRECTLY. When are they EVER going to realize that?

They called at 9:08 AM today (Saturday).  I am fighting back.  I have a new T Lock Call Blocker that can block up to 1200 numbers.  My Panasonic phone can block 20 numbers but that is a joke considering the number of calls we receive every week.  They will not be bothering me again.

Got a call from 855-424-7029 at 8:19 am on a free Saturday.

Just got an 8:15 call from this number!!!!!! I get to sleep on Saturday mornings, but not any more!!! I called the number back to give someone hell and got a rapid busy signal. Can't even contact anyone to tell them they are ruining my life!!! What, if any, course of action can a person take?

We really have to knock off all the "stop calling me" demands in this thread. Your callers DO NOT READ here, cannot tell who you are, and cannot respond they way you would like.

The reported charity is a longtime client of commercial fundraiser InfoCision. My records show that in the first two quarters of 2010 they'd called here three dozen times from ten rotating numbers on behalf of "Leukemia Society". They paused to hammer us for Saint Jude for a couple weeks, then resumed working the Leuk-Lymph account. They are NEVER going to stop until you *make them*.

Such call centers are also covered to a point by other regulations for telepests, so you can report abandoned calls, bot calls to mobile phones, and so on.

In a comment from Nov 2012 linked below, find the simple steps I took to rid myself of this major pain boiler room by politely rubbing its face in federal laws. You will note that I never rely on verbal cease-communication demands.

Your callers do not maintain this site or this web page. You will not get compliance with your orders until, if possible, you deliver them *directly* to your caller. It is unwise to publish a phone number you meant to protect in an open forum where any data harvester and scammer can find it. I've reported your comment so that Admin can redact it.

Stop Calls from coming from this number

I need to clarify a sentence in last post:

Ruby,  you really need to call the telephone company and get the straight scoop on that.  This issue has come up on this board many times since the 855 number came into existence almost 3 years ago.  For those who  frequent this board,  it has become a plague that won't go away.  That article that you are referencing is very misleading and has created a whirlwind of misunderstanding.  Members of this board have called the Telephone company to get a verification of it and have found that  the misunderstanding in in reference to who is the caller and who is the called party.  The owner of the 855 number is referred to as the "called party"  in this case.  When people respond to their calls by calling them,  they are charged a toll on each incoming call and referred to as the called party..
You will never be charged a Toll for receiving a call from the 855 number.   Only the owner of that number will bear the burden of toll charges...      Call you phone company and verify this for yourself.

No Ruby.  This old horse has been whipped to death on this site many times before over the past couple of years.  It took a call to MaBell to clarify it.  MaBell says that "The called party will never be charged a fee for any incoming call unless they first agreed with the Carrier to accept the charges (collect calls)     In the case of the 855 number,  they are referring to the caller, not as the ones who own the number,  but "Us"  the ones calling back in to the 855 number.  Only the owner of the 855 number will ever be charged.    You can call MaBell yourself and verify this if you like,  just like members of this board had to do to clarify it.
Who ever wrote that for the internet should be made to re-write it with the supervision of a 6 year old.  
As many calls as are made and received by people reporting on this board,  not a single one has ever reported being charged for answering the phone. If they had,  you can be that you'd heard screraming and yelling on this board as well as other places.   I get several of these each week, and have for 2 years now,  and have never had a charge tacked onto my bill.  So,  Let's once again put that dead horse back into its grave,  until next time it pops up again.

855 numbers are not just another toll free number; they are toll free for the caller only, but toll calls for the recipient.  You can verify this at http://areacode.org/855.

This in all likelihood a spoofed number.  Why would LLS intentionally set out to annoy people,  While ths may truly be LLS' number, the actual recipient may be someone else.  855 numbers are toll free for the caller but are $$$ toll calls for the recipient.

Per AreaCode.org, "...Area code 855 is a future area code reserved for toll-free calls in which the calling party is not charged. Instead, the telephone carrier charges the cost of the call to the called party. Toll-free numbers, such as 855 numbers, have applications such as technical support, customer service, and personal use."

In other words, while it certainly would feel like you're getting even, you would be hurting yourself.  Think of it, they call and call and call until someone picks up, then the meter is ticking, yours, not theirs.  It doesn't matter whether you talk, say nothing or curse at them - while you are venting your frustration, they are making money off of you.

Best thing to do is block the call.  Invest in a phone that does precisely that.  They do not cost all that much.  I have an older Uniden DECT 6.0 which does a nice job of that, but there are so many gadgets on the market that do this.  Just type "call blocker" in Home Telephones into Ebay's search page.  Definitely worth it for your peace of mind.

It's a robo call. It's dialing 1000's of people at once. There's a warehouse full of telemarketers, picking up active lines, to see if a HUMAN is on the other end, they do this quickly, and often miss you, even if you're on, because they quickly pick up and listen to see if you're saying "Hello?, hello?" If you're not saying that right when they cut in, they hang up and go to the next line, that why you hear it picking up but nobody talks and it just hangs up again. It's low paying "piecemeal" work, but if you do donate to these assclowns, you should know about 99.99% of your donation went to them, instead of the leukemia society.

You have to call the LL Society to remove your number from their call list.  There is a form that you can fill out on their website if you want to provide them with all kinds of ways to continue to bother you (NOT).   If they do not honor the request, my next stop is the FCC.

Just got a call from this number, silence on the other end since I didn't say anything. It is a common characteristic of an auto dialer; once voice is detected the call is routed to a telemarketer.

855 is just another toll free number.
Like 800, 866, 877 and 888, this prefix of 855 won't cost you anything.

We never answer numbers we don't recognize or we pick up and hang up right away. Like many I believe in contributing to various organizations but its getting out of hand. I get calls from all of them! These guys won't stop either. Everyday. You would think they would get the hint when, after calling all,the time, they never reach us.
