As many others have stated, this is a legitimate company. It's AllClearID which is a credit/identity monitoring company. If you're getting a call from them and you never signed up for it, then perhaps somebody gave the wrong phone number to them. But I just got a call from them, and they were informing me of a credit inquiry that I (legitimately) had, and just wanted to confirm. This is not a scam!

The calls are automated and require a confirmation password from the registered subscriber to continue. The 'LATER'? -- maybe a tail end of a automated 'goodbye'.

Thanks Curtis. I get so many bad calls that even the good ones are mistaken for bad. People need to know which are legitimate, but caller ID doesn't have a feature that a user can visually recognize a good call (one from some place they know -- or should know) usually it just shows up with a generic ID. The specific caller ID are sometimes truncated in the display so they are not recognized as from some place that they know. Why these people don't recognize that the call is coming from a place that should be familiar is a mystery. They or someone in their household had to have made contact with ALLClearID somehow and give them their phone number.

They are not a scam. If people are getting these calls, they had to subscribe to the service or made a request for information.

That's because the call needs to be answered by a human that will follow up with the appropriate password to access the account. this is a valid service that had to be initially signed up, subscribed and registered to your phone number.

This is a legitimate company similar to Lifelock. The only way that you can receive a call from them is if you requested it as a subscriber to the service. Family members can also be included. I would check with other members in your family. Your phone number may have been registered by them if you didn't do it. Again the only way that you would be getting the call is if are an active subscriber for the service. They call only to alert you about some problems or some type of event regarding your account(s).

This is legit from AllClear ID.  I was enrolled by my employer because of a data breach.  I have gotten calls whenever there are hits to my credit (like when I recently got an auto loan) to verify that the account activity is actually mine.  Not sure why people are saying it is a scam - it is a helpful service.

I agree, this is All-ClearID confirming activity on your credit report.  Very legit service and works well if you set it up correctly.   You will enter your PIN and hear a recording of your own voice that you set up.  They will then ask you to confirm if you know the recent activity (i.e a certain bank or lender).  You confirm and they will stop calling.  If you don't answer, they try any other numbers you have set up. I was set up with a subscription due to a potential compromise of data records and a former employer.

We received a call from thelis number. And my mothers voice came over the line stating her name and all clear ID. I believe these are scammers. Never ever give any info over the phone to anyone. I'm so sick of scammers trying to rip off hard working people.

If this is a legit company, why do they not identify the company responsible for losing my info? I won't be giving them any of my info, until they tell me which company lost my info and hired them. Why hand over my social sec number on any other terms? This reeks of something fishy.

This is NOT a scam.  When my personal data had been compromised by a theft at the insurance company Healthnet, they provided me with a free subscription to Debix (now AllClear ID) to be on the lookout for any potentially fraudulent activity using my credit cards.  When I got the alert, I assumed from the comments on this forum that it was a scam, until another alert came to my home phone number with my own prerecorded voice message telling myself that "this is legit, you idiot".  That's when I remembered i was signed up for these alerts.  Fortunately, it was a false alarm: I had signed up for a Macy's credit card (for the 20% discount) and charged $900 in one day (never shop with your wife).  In a nutshell: call them back; they are legit.

This is a legitimate call from All Clear ID, which used to be Debix. It is an identity theft protection company; they call when there are changes to your credit. I was enrolled for a free year by my university when they had a computer stolen, and then I continued my subscription indefinitely after that.

I subscribe to All Clear ID for identity and credit protection.  When they call me it's because there has been some action within my credit area which they are trying to confirm was initiated by me.   I like this company and the care they take with their clients.

This is legitimate, it is AllClearID and is a service organization that a person or business signs up for either free or a small fee to help protect their credit.

If someone tries to open up a new credit account in your name if you are a subscriber they call you to verify that it really is you trying to get the credit.

Their website is: allclearid.com and by going to their site it explains how their service works.

It does show up on CID as "Unown name".

It was recommended on the Clark Howard (finance expert) radio show this past week.

If you did NOT request this protective service, I would suggest you let them know at: allclearid.com

I thought it was just another scam BUT remembered that I signed up for identity protection through Debix . .  which was later bought by AllClear ID.  This is a legitimate company calling the number you gave them to notify you of activity on your credit bureau account.  It could be a problem for you if you ignore it.  When I called I ultimately found that the credit bureau had mixed someone else's files (with the same name) with mine. It appeared that I was scammed but after months of digging we ultimately found that the credit bureau just plain screwed up.

CALL THE NUMBER - IT MAY SAVE YOUR CREDIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
