I have received 3 text  - different text senders (5010@vtext.com; 5161st@vtext.com; and 1118280003@vtext.com).  Mine all say something about Generation FCU.  The most recent text said "my [Generations FCU] account was restricted"  Now I'm kind of upset I didn't know I had an account with Generations FCU.  What if I had a lot of money in my imaginary accout?  Not its gone forever!  I figure they are phishing for people to text back for more info.  I just ignore them although they are irritating as hell.

i don't know how to stop them  they have also called on another number trying the same scam.  say they are banking services.

I've gotten several texts from this number and similar numbers.  Tells me to contact Generations FCU.  The numbers to call are always different - 3 so far.

i would like verizon to do a better job stopping things like this..

It has nothing to do with apps on your phone.  I've had the same phone for years and they're sending texts to me.  It's just texting spam, which happens all the time regardless of what apps you have installed.

two texts from this number already. I replied "STOP" not sure if it will do anything but usually for these type of things they say reply "stop"...hoping it helps!

I too was getting teh 101@sprint texts so I decided I was going to call teh # from a land line and see if any one answered. i just tried it twice and get teh thiss # is no longer in service Recording.

I keep getting texts from 101@messaging.sprintpcs.com telling me to call 855 444 00 67.  They can go eff themselves!!  They better stop soon or I'm gonna be pissed!!

Total fraud. Recording said my atm card needed to be activated by pressing one then asked for my card number. Once I heard that it was over. Now they are peppering me with notices on my phone. Do not respond to this thief. He is trying to steal your money.

You're not exactly correct. Some Merchant Banks sometimes authorize charges with wrong Expiration dates, or it may easily be guessed. They just need to retry it a few until the correct one is guessed.

I recommend you call into your bank & get the card number changed.

SCAM:  txt message from 5010@vtext.com to call this number...

called to tell me my debit card has been suspended and wanted me to enter the 16 digit number to reinstate.  . no particular bank was named.  obviously trying to get my number so they could drain my account.

I too just received a message in which they put the fist 6 numbers of my card on the message.
Now it's clear they somehow have our card numbers, but to see what else they wanted, I played along. After entering my card number they then wanted the expiration at which point I hung up. So somehow they have been able to get card numbers but need expiration date and security code numbers because without that info the card number is useless. So as long as you didn't pass that info along you should be alright.

Started getting text messages as soon as I upgraded to a smart phone with verizonwireless. Its possibly adware from apps on your phone

I just got the same text, Supposedly from Berkshire Bank

IT's a SCAM!!!

They managed to Hijack someone's Toll Free and are trying to extract your Credit Card & SSN so they could steal your Money & Identity.

In the other case, the Phone company acted quick & uploaded a nice Message telling callers to be aware of the FRAUD.

DO NOT RELEASE ANY OF YOUR PRIVATE INFORMATION WHEN RESPONDING TO A TEXT FROM AN UNKNOWN SENDER.

As a Verizon user I will call my provider and ask them to block this vtext user. I've done that before.
These people go to vtext.com add 10 random numbers and hope that someone will call them and provide them personal account numbers. Beware, these are scammers.

i think the caller is a person using Google and making them think this is the bank calling this is the 3 rd one i already got.. this person really needs a life..

This is a phishing call that says they are GROW Financial and want you to call them. They will ask you to enter your account number to proceed. It's a scam!
