They have been calling my friends and family past two weeks so I called back and now they call me all the time with threats. They call blocked but leave message to call back to 877-682-0770. Someone named Alanna West called today. SMH... Initially received a call from a Jane Gordon saying she would be coming by my home or job to bring me some affidavit or subpoena unless I called the number above to settle this matter... Glad I came across this webpage. Total scam as I suspected...

As anyone been contacted by this number 855-672-4618 related to Cohen, Kaplan and Tulowipz?  Can you tell me if they are legit?  The man gave me his name Frank Crosby.

I have also recieved a call from a darren knight from cohen kaplan tulowitz the number that shows up on caller id is 7165684125 but in his message he leaves 8556724681 as the number to call.

Some guy has been calling my work being very rude and hateful to my supervisor. He told my supervisor she had to be a witness when he served me papers at work. The number the man left was 855-672-4681 when I called the number I got a recorded message stating it was the office of Cohen Kaplan and tulowitz.

these people are scum....for those of us who have experienced bad times in our lives they are the scum of the scum, preying on people who are trying to rebuild their lives in a time of unrest,

I RECIEVED a simular call with threats that I would be arrested.  Also my friend who lost her house a couple years ago, was getting the same calls and what happen yesterday was at around 5:30 pm or so my house phone rings, I let the answer machine  pick it up because number said "BLOCKED".  At the same exact time my friends cell phone rings and at the same time we both hear the same bogus collection company threatening that if we did not act at once that a local police dept. Would be delivering us papers.  THESE PEOPLE ARE SCUM WHO SOMEHOW BUY UP OR  STEAL OLD OUTDATED COLLECTIONS INFO AND THEN SEND OUT AT ONCE THE SAME RECOEDING IN HOPES TO GET SOME POOR SOLES MONEY.

These people said they were giving me a final call 6 times now haha! It is such a generic message but there's just enough legal jargin used that if I wasn't educated I would fall for it!

Report them to the Federal Trade Commission, BBB and State's Attorney. (New York)
That is what I did because the same thing happened to me. If enough people call and report it, there will be an investigation and they might shut down their business.

I have been receiving a number of calls from, daily, for the past month. The numbers I get are 716-568-4256 & 716-568-4125 both recordings. The first few messages said they were looking for name (but it sounded like an Asian woman gargling something.) They started saying I have a case and need to call them back or have my attorney, if I have retained one, call them back. Then the messages said that they left me with no choice but to file a suit against me. Then they went back to saying they have a case and to have me or my attorney call them back. Now they are telling me it's getting filed and the account number with no number to call back. Please.

If you really are a debt collector, at least get my name right when it is on my voice mail. Secondly, have a human call, not a computerized voice that's probably calling 300 other people per minute. Thirdly, have a believable reason to call. Seriously.

I just received a call from these people. I listened to the voicemail they left and they claimed I wa a person to question regarding case number 597256 and to either call or have my legal council call as this is a time sensitive matter. As with calls that others have mentioned they did not ask for a specific person in the voicemail. The number thye called from was 716-568-4256 and the number to call is 866-789-4520 and the claimed to be from the firm  of Collin, Kaplin & Tulowitz. Haven't called them and after reading some of the other posts I probably won't unless I am feeling ornery and want to screw with them. If they are trying to do debt collections then they are barking up the wrong tree as I keep pretty close tabs on my credit. If they call again then I will contact my local police department and file a report.

I just started getting calls from this place stating they have been attptung to reach me and I'm ignoring them. Duh !  I could tell from the tone it wasn't legit. I don't want them calling my office however. How to I stop them in their tracks. I'm in Washinton. I'm going to file a complaint with out Drpartment of Financial institutions which also governs collection agencies. They gave an attorney on staff I'm hoping can direct me on what to do. These scammers can as so much stress to people's lives.

I too am getting calls from Tyler Jeffries and he's very RUDE when I finally told him I talked to my attorney he blew up at me and told me I could explain to my kids for the next 10 years I was under poverty and could not pay my bills...yea he was a nice guy! Ugh so I'm not sure what I should do...they keep calling my job saying they're going to serve me papers today and apparently the courier is calling also?? What the heck

It's funny that you put on here that Tyler Jefferies got fired from this company. He has been calling and harassing me for the last couple weeks. Hopefully you have gotten it taken care of.

After my first post above in oct. I received a call from the "owner" of the company stating I was bashing his company on this sight. It's funny how you state a tyler jeffries called because when I mentioned of that person in particular he stated he fired him and a lot of other employers for threatening people ect. I also asked him if he had the number to the place that gave my "debt" to him and he stated he didn't know the number?? Shouldn't they have that information. From this point forward every conversation will be recorded on my phone and given to my lawyer.

Go to the police.I've already made a report on this company. I told them to send me documentation on what I really owe and all I get is a flimsy one peice of paper that I could've typed myself. I get calls on my cell with vm stating they wish me luck, I moved to a new office at work at they are still harrassing my old coworkers. I contacted BBB and they have no info on this "so called" debt collection agency. I have already spoken with my lawyer and he is filing a harrassment suit because these ppl r doing everything illegal its illegal to threaten,and give false info stating they will put you in jail, not to mention give other people information on you.

I receiced a call from this # and they state thare are the office collin, caplin and toolit and spoke to some one and told him this is a scam and they better remove my phone # or I am sending them to my lawyer. He was very rude and said why dont we call your lawyer right now. I gave him my lawyers name and phone # and he said he will call them and call me back. This is a SCAM and they are trying to scare people.

Got a phone call from a Mr Rodriguez. Stating that they've Been trying to serve legal documents regarding a la suit but if I could pay upfront it would resolve the matter. Don't call back it's a scam

Colen Kaplan & Toolwitz want a be collection agency violating all the rules of collections with threats, blowing up phone lines, providing information to people who are not involved in the debt and harassing people that have nothing to do with the debt. Talk to Tyler Jeffries and he gives you some weird twilight explanation about drawing bees to honey by ***ing the world off. FREAK!!! If you have Verizon go in and enter 716.568.4256 and 855.515.3517 into your blocked numbers online. You can block up to four for free.

Yes I cancelled my card immediatly. Thank you all for advice. I have notified my supervisor she called him stating the proper way he would need to serve me and he flipped out on her.

Rule one. Never give a person claiming to be a bill collector money over the phone. No matter how hard they push you or threaten you. Tell them you want a letter Mailed  to you before you agree to pay. If they threaten to serve you papers or to arrest you hang up the phone and call your atty.
Any REAL debt collector will follow the law. Those that are not real will do what they did to you.

Contact the police immediately. Get in touch with your bank, too. This is a widespread scam: They get information on people (from a variety of legal and illegal sources) and use it to scam/extort money out of their victims. The threat that they will serve "papers" is a dead giveaway. No one notifies you in advance if you are going to be served with a summons!

(There is no black/white dividing line between having your identity stolen and not having your identity stolen. There's a huge gray area in between where the criminals have varying amounts of private, personal information. You're probably in that gray area somewhere but you should protect yourself as best you can.)

Bottom feeder debt collectors, while the debt may be valid the collector may not have a legal right to collect it.
Also, because they claim you will be arrested, they are violating federal laws covering debt collection, there for they have zero claim.
Lastly, you may want to cancel and close the account of the card info you gave them, in case they try to clean out that account.

They called my job a couple weeks ago stating i owed a loan of 300$ from yrs ago that sounded about right so i gave my card info after being threatened by a woman that sherriffs will come to my job and serve me papers. About a week later she called me saying the money couldnt come out of my account and she wanted me to western union the money after that was said i did not western union anything it sounded like a scam from right there and she would not send me any info regarding what i owed once i asked to send me proof she said oh its ok ill go ahead and file the paper work and we will serve you.Today they called again and somehow a man from the same company contacted my supervisor and gave her all my info and stated that they will be serving me papers and i was looking up to 20 yrs in jail for fraud. Has anyone actually ever been served by this company? I googled it and this company says it has only been on the map since august of 2013. Seems fishy to me. I will be filing a police report today for harrassment.

I received a call for someone else this morning. They called my cell phone stating that a certain person was a defendant in a case. I asked questions because first of all they are calling my phone at 8am. The lady asked how I was affiliated with that person? I stated I'm not but you keep calling my number. She then said your too damn nosey. What??? Needless to say she hung up after stating that. I called the number back and spoke to a man and he had the audacity to say to me " Well from the county records this is his number." I said, " I just recently got this number." He then proceeded to announce that I should let him finish talking if I wanted to proceed in a professional manner.. WHAT??? These idiots are fools to think anyone will be on a logical level when they come at someone wrong! They are rude scam calls and I believe from my internet search are collection agencies hiding behind a false attorney name, or flake attorneys. I agree with everyone one else's comments...FRAUD!
