Yup.... just happened to me also. Its definitely a scam.

received a text message
From: 3002@vtext.com
Message: Call 8555327123.Direct Express

When I called I got an automated message telling me that my debit card had been limited due to a security issue and asked me to provide verification.

It called...no message. The phone said it was an 800 service.

called but left no message. Tried to call it back, and got a recording that said "you can not call this number from your area".

Called on a Sunday evening I answered and no one was there.

When I answered the male voice said, "the front door's open" and hung up.

Similar to above. Caller ID says "800 Service". Nobody there when I picked up.

Received a call yesterday from this number and was curious about the "855" prefix in particular.
Please be aware:
10/02/2010 - Area code 855 was put into service for toll-free calls in which the calling party is not charged. Instead, the telephone carrier charges the cost of the call to the called party. Toll-free numbers, such as 855 numbers, have applications such as technical support, customer service, and personal use [i.e., anybody].

Calls every day - Hangs up - No message

Got two calls.  Both callers said they were with Verizon and wanted me to sign up with Verizon for cable, phone and internet.  ( I had within the past couple months requested information from Verizon so this sounded legitimate.).  They asked some questions, gave me a quote and said they would send me details for review and a commitment to sign.  Sounded good to me until they asked for my social security number.  Then I bailed out.
