I received a call from an "unknown" number three times and I finally answered. A man with a thick Indian accent answered and was not only rude but he was running through his speech very fast. Something about someone trying to break into my windows system and take information. He was asking about my computer ID. I started to ask questions about why he was calling from an unknown number and he gave me 855-539-4923 so I could call back and talk to someone. Definitely a scam. Avoid.

I received so far 3 separate calls over the past couple of months , as soon as I saw 0000000 caller id I know something was up. I pretended to play stupid, asking him more and more questions, he kept saying "someone hacking your computer" when I refused to listen he got mad and hung up, then got another call today from 8555394923 says he's in california , same BS story. Heavy accent,,fast talker ,,says he wants to show me what files to delete to protect myself. Says his name is Stevens ! haha . Ok Osama !!!! Go jump in the sand. Surely there's enough people in your own country to scam...

Same thing here, he wanted for me to access my clsid, then at that point I asked him how he could match my computer with my wife telephone number and he could not explained, just keep saying that it is an automatic signal that my computer was sending to their server, but no answer as to how he match computer with phone number. Then I realized it was a scam.

i just received a call at 8:30 this morning from a man with a thick Indian accent claiming that he was an independent contractor from Microsoft Windows. He said that Microsoft has been tracking abnormal activity and that he was given my computer ID. He had me look at the Administrative Events and told me that I had an extremely high number of errors and warnings. He stated that this indicated that someone was trying to hack into my computer. He repeatedly asked  for my computer's ID # for verification. I told him that my phone was about to die and I would call him back. When I asked for his name and extension number, he told me his name was "Peter Williams" #1005. He stated the phone # was 855-539-4923, though on my phone it came up as all 0s. He called back from a different number, this time coming up as 005. My phone has already blocked his incoming calls 3 times this morning. Total Scam

Thank you all for taking the time to post your personal experiences with this scam.  I too received a call yesterday early morning and pretty much my story is the same as all of yours, except that he claimed to be Jack.  Same script, heavy Indian accent, "Oh my God" comments, demanding personality, and sounds of frustration in his voice after not being able to accomplish his mission.  I pretended to be stupid and not understanding his commands.  I asked for his number and told him I would have someone with more technical experience call him back.  So, here I am....I searched the number on the web and I came across these post.  Hope others do the same and I know eventually these criminals will get caught.

This same guy just called me asking me to turn on my pc because someone is trying to hack it.He said he was a Microsoft Windows tech. and wanted to help me. His thick accent made me ask to speak to an English speaking person. Since he resisted, I then asked for a return phone number. He gave me 1-855-539-4923. The ironic part was I had just gotten of my pc prior to him calling. My first thought was why is he calling my cell phone because I give my home phone number out to businesses. My second thought was, It's a scam. Before calling I goggled and here I am.

Got a call from Mike claiming he was from Microsoft and my computer was sending some type of critical messages to their servers. I could tell this was not a Microsoft operation but went ahead and let him go through his whole script - I had time. As with the previous comments, he made me go through event viewer, tried to make me delete Error warnings (which cannot be deleted since it is just a log of an event). He made it sound bad saying "Oh my God". Then he had me check msconfig and confirm status on a few things -with another "oh my God". He also had me confirm the clsid number (as if it were unique), then wanted me to go the www.fastsupport.com  from my "run" window. I played along and he kept asking me what was popping up and I told him nothing. He said let's wait another minute. We waited.... then he asked me if I was connected to the internet. I told him I didn't have internet from home (I lied)... I was able to get a name, number, extension and told him I'd call him back on Monday when I was at work with internet. Be careful!

The Info he provided: Mike from the Windows Technology Division of Microsoft. 1-855-539-4923 extension 1005

Hi guys, I really appreciate people like you, that take the time to post stuff like this. These people called me yesterday and today saying the same thing, I didn't believe them but played along because I wasn't sure, but soon I realized I was correct. His name was Edward and same thing very heavy accent and pretty much demanding me to go and seat on front of my computer to guide me thru it (he did ask for my ID #) anyway, I didn't go that far with him, told him to give me a call back number and gave me this one, so I went and googled the number this came up and also comes up as the actual number for McAfee antivirus, I thought I am not going to take a chance because I think its a scam and if I'm wrong and its McAfee they will try to sale me something I don't need.

This same guy literally just called me at 10:00 am this morning. He wanted to "verify" my computer ID on behalf of Microsoft. Said they had gotten a lot of flags of error from my error report. I played along long enough for him to think I was a sucker and said my phone was dying. He gave me 888-539-4923 to call back. His name is "Marty". His accent was so thick I absolutely knew better. After hanging up with him (to get a diff. phone) I searched the number and came up with this. Sad thing is,....it doesn't even matter because there isn't an internet/computer police. No one will be able to stop this crap. Scary thing is that I was only 1 out of over 20 other phone calls going on at the same moment. Poor people. I hope they caught on too before it was too late.

this is still going on.  this happened to me over three years  ago and the guy had all of our info.  fell for it for about 10 minutes and it (money went thru pay pal, made me get an account) but thank goodness I got the money back. took about a week but they all had indian (east) accents and even there "supervisors'   Micosoft was notified and they would never do that.  last phone call I made to them I told them they were being recorded via the FBI and they hung up.

I got a call from this number today.  The person with a thick Indian accent supposedly named Max Jones wanted me to check my Windows Event Viewer for errors.  Of course, there are plenty of them which is a normal situation, but this guy insisted that I had serious computer problems that he could fix if I accessed a web site and gave him access to my computer.  When I kept asking about his association with Microsoft, all he would say was that he worked for the "Windows Support Department" and he got my phone number from the "Windows Server"?I assume that's like the Great Pumpkin or something.  He finally got tired of my questions, and asked me:  "Are you full of s***?".  That's when I hung up.

It felt very suspicions to me. The phone number appeared as +44 20 0000 0000 which was my first red flag. The individual had an Indian accent and was wanted to gain access to my computer. I asked him for his phone number and he gave me (855) 539-4923. I Googled it and came upon this site, I read some comments while he was trying to gain access to my computer. When I told him I believed this was a scam he hung up the phone.

Called Microsoft and they said they would never make such a call.  They only call in response to a customers question.  Gave them the number and they are going to investigate.
